About this property
Under the plane trees
You can live in taste, character and relaxed comfort in one of the greenest squares of central Budapest. Bringing together iconic design from both Scandinavia and Central Europe, we have strived to make this two- bedroom apartment an oasis of peace and well-being.
The living room - with its 11 feet to the ceiling - is cool in summer, yet bright enough for comfort all the year round due to its open surroundings. A splendid view to the newly renovated St. Francis Church behind the plane trees – and not much else - offers you full privacy and a particular sense of space. Windows are double-glazed and isolated, but even with the balcony doors open, the noise from this residential area is quite modest.
A Sony Bravia 50-inch flatscreen offers you 25 international channels and full access to the Internet for your favourite streaming. You can connect your music to a portable, wireless loudspeaker, also by Sony.
Furniture by Freistil, Team7, Poul Henningsen, Verner Panton, Plydesign and Tylko.
The balcony has room for two comfortable armchairs and a table made in durable materials that tolerate all weather. The moderate traffic in the street and the surrounding big plane trees make the balcony an enjoyable retreat in the long Hungarian summer stretching from April until October. Direct sunshine arrives only in the mid-afternoon, but in our experience you will appreciate the shady hours during summer. An assortment of small trees and flowers – apart from looking lovely - provide windshield and protect against mosquitos.
The bedroom also faces the church square, the sound-proof windows and a blind offers you silence and darkness if needed. A special feature is the free standing bath by Marmorin resting on mosaic tiles in a traditional Hungarian pattern. Bed and boudoir by Team7.
From the bedroom you walk into a spacious closet that also stores a vacuum cleaner, ironing board and a small ladder for the highest shelves. Here you will also find the gas heating system by rock-solid Viesmann, which you can remote control from anywhere in the flat.
The main bathroom is conceived around a wall of antique Hungarian mosaic tiles with furniture and mirror in brass and with a Dekton mineral plate by our own design. Waterfall shower niche by Hansgrohe, sanitation by Geberit. Towel dryer and ventilation for your comfort.
The corridor connecting the kitchen area to the living room is a rather large room, which we have deliberately kept open and spacious featuring only a wardrobe with shoe storage from Bylassen. The big window against the Lichthof - or light shaft - is a typical Budapest feature, which adds a lot of character to the whole apartment.
The kitchen is state-of-the-art and a little beyond. A big peninsula with a Decton mineral plate offers you plenty of working space and absolute hygiene, even if you work with foodstuff directly on the table. All other elements by Nobilia, a premium German manufacturer. Induction hob by Elica with downward aspiration that frees your headroom. Fridge and freezer, dishwasher and oven by Bosch, a Nespresso coffee machine with milk foamer by DeLonghi, tools, ironware and pottery by Tefal and Le Creuset. A microwave oven can be made available on request.
Furniture by Poul Volther, Plydesign and Basic Berlin. Antique mosaic tiles from the Hungarian countryside decorate the floor.
The guest room is simple, but comfortably sleeps two adults with plenty of wardrobe space. Furniture by Plydesign and IKEA. A working desk of our own design with a wireless printer offers you a quiet retreat for office work.
The extra bathroom behind the guest room is small, but offers you an additional toilet, wash basin, a mirror and plenty of storage space.
Two doors away from the flat, you will find our private utility room with a Bosch HomeProfessional washing machine and tumbler, drying racks and an ironing board to give you friendly and comfortable washing conditions away from the living space.
