About this property
Stunning White Water Ocean Views From This Peaks Island Home
Escaping to Valhalla by the Sea is like escaping to a simpler time, an experience not marked by time, but by your spiritual awakening on Peaks Island. From the moment you land on the island, you become a different person, the island has the power to transform and heal.
Welcome to Valhalla by the Sea on Peaks Island. Sip lemonade on the spacious front porch during those beautiful summer days, or hot chocolate as you enjoy the fall colors snuggled under a blanket enjoying the crisp fall air. Enjoy the ocean breezes that naturally cool the house, or the warm fireplace when the weather starts to turn. Whether you are looking for a place to have a family gathering with children or a romantic stay with your significant other, this house is perfect for your stay.
Valhalla has been described as "perfectly imperfect". It is a house with over 100 years of history that has been updated and remodeled multiple times during its existence. This three bedroom 2 bath year-round house has remarkable white water ocean views and all of the amenities you could want for a comfortable and memorable stay. The local decor creates a warm and inviting atmosphere for your stay. The house is not designed to be stuffy, but relaxing. Walk around barefoot, enjoy your coffee on the porch, grill that perfect dinner and let us sweep away the sand that your kids bring in.
**Upon booking, you will receive a welcome message with a pdf version of our Welcome Guide. Please make sure to read in order to learn how to check-in and enjoy your overall experience.**
We want your stay to be enjoyable and for your family and guests to long to return. We create many friendships with our repeat customers, and our guests have always been very respectful in return. We welcome you to Valhalla and hope that you will look to change yourself... if even for a short while. Take time to breathe the fresh ocean air, reminisce, laugh, hold hands, walk around and explore, but most importantly... smile.
Your stay at Valhalla will sleep up to 8 comfortably and will include all of your towels and linens. No need to drag those along from your destination. Cookware, dinner sets, spices, dressings, paper towels, trash bags, cleaning supplies, extra toiletries, basic medicine and many countless items that are not listed. There is a propane grill in the yard and grill set for cooking. Numerous board games, throws through-out the house for chilly nights, lobster eating utensils, wine glasses and opener, and an array of tools in the basement just in case. There is a full-size washer and dryer, dishwasher, microwave, Keurig maker and pods as well as a traditional coffee maker.
**Please be aware that we have a no smoking policy. If you must smoke, please smoke outside and be tidy with your remains.**
If you need any special accommodations, please let us know. We will make every effort possible.
Sleeping accommodations are as follows: "Captains Quarters" has a queen bed, "Mermaid" room has 2 twins size beds (trundle) and a sofa sleeper, "Boys" room has two twin beds and a tv counsel to connect to any video game system that you bring. Downstairs is the "Reading" room that has a pull-out queen size mattress. There is cable TV and Wifi included.
Please keep in mind that you are on an island, things are slower and take time. We take reasonable steps to make sure your stay is perfectly enjoyable. If there are ever any issues or breakdowns at the house, we will do everything within our power to get it fixed. We welcome you to Valhalla and look forward to your return.
Things to do and where to eat:
Ride bicycles around the island or rent a golf cart and explore. Visit the numerous beaches which all have their own unique features and personalities. Enjoy a drink at the beautiful Inn (ask for a blueberry beer), or on the patio with unobstructed views at the local restaurants. Visit the island store and get a sandwich (a must) and have a picnic with your family. Take the ferry to Portland and enjoy world-renowned dining (Duckfat), lobster at the Porthole (order the "twins") or relax in simple restaurants such as Gilberts (best chowder), Flatbread (pizza), Boda (Thai), the Highroller (lobster roll) and the best blueberry pie a la mode at Andys.
Go deep-sea fishing, fly fishing or fish in the bay. Go on a working lobster boat, ride bikes around Portland's many bike trails, hiking, kayak, shop, visit the fish market, cook, drink fine wine, explore other islands, start a bonfire on any Peaks Island beach, go to a sports bar and enjoy as the crazy New Englander's cheer on their teams. Enjoy a coffee shop and bookstore. Visit the street vendors. Visit a lighthouse, discover LL Bean 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Enjoy blueberry everything and lobster, lobster, lobster.
