I’ve kept all the elements of a traditional, historic New Orleans home and furnished the space with this aesthetic in mind. These elements are combined with the modern convenience and comfort of custom furnishings, appliances, smart devices, electronics, and services. I offer extensive, high-quality amenities, family-oriented extras for children, safety and security features, and outdoor spaces for relaxation and fun.
My home was originally built in 1919 with many historic details kept intact since it's renovation. It is a type of two-address duplex with a layout called a "Shotgun" style home in New Orleans, also called a railroad or walk-through apartment in other regions. It is newly renovated and features 12 ft ceilings, crown molding, original hardwood floors, original brick fireplaces, mantels, original pocket doors, original transom windows, corbels, gas lanterns, stained glass, large windows, and plantation shutters. From the front porch you can see the tower of St. Mary's Assumption Church, and hear the bells chime on the hour in the distance.
Once inside, enjoy a parlor with multiple streaming entertainment platforms, full kitchen, office space, 2 bedrooms with queen size beds, a queen size pull-out sofa for different sleeping arrangements, 2 full bathrooms, shared front patio and backyard, Wi-Fi, hot tub, and central A/C and heat. I also have a pack n’ play, high chair, children’s dinnerware and bathroom amenities, safety latches and outlet covers. You can rest easy at night knowing that the property has 5 outdoor surveillance cameras, sensors on all doors and windows, indoor motion detector, and 24-hour monitoring service, as well as monthly pest control service. The home is also protected by a whole house, natural gas, generator in case of an electrical outage.
I welcome each reservation with fresh flowers, a welcome card, and a chilled bottle of champagne. I take pride in trying to include anything that a guest may need during their stay. I also constantly update what is available based on guest recommendations.
Other things to note, I offer discounts on nightly rates, depending on the length of stay. There are no cleaning or extra guest fees. Discounts are reflected in the nightly rate you see at time of booking, depending on the details of your reservation.

Please have your reservation accurately reflect the number of guests that will be staying.

We had a fantastic stay here! The neighborhood is quiet but a short walk away from great shops and restaurants. The host was so kind and welcoming, and the house was well appointed and very clean. Beds were comfy and the hot tub was an added bonus. Would definitely recommend!
We had such an amazing stay at this beautiful New Orleans shotgun house! The location was perfect—just a quick 5-minute walk to the Garden District, but tucked away in a quiet, peaceful neighborhood which we really appreciated after busy days exploring. The home itself was exactly what you picture when you think of a classic New Orleans shotgun house—charming, stylish, and full of character. It was also incredibly well stocked with everything we needed, which made our stay so comfortable. The host was absolutely incredible—super responsive, helpful, and made everything seamless from start to finish. We would 100% stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting New Orleans!
We had a fabulous experience staying in this home in the Garden District during Mardi Gras. The location was excellent, the host was welcoming and easy to get in touch with and the home was well appointed and comfortable.
The house is clean and well kept by the owners.
They thought of every detail for a pleasant stay.
Highly recommend and if I ever come back to NOLA would definitely stay here again.
This might be the best home I've ever rented for vacation. Some things others should know: 1. The house is much closer to the FQ than a map would reveal. That being said, its not within walking distance. 2. Walmart is a 3 minute drive (maps say otherwise). However, the only things you'd need would be food or something on a personal level, Iwona provides A LOT more than the bare necessities. I suggest don't bring anything extra (like toilet paper, tin foil, coffee, laundry supplies) until you inspect the home to see what she already has available for use. 3. The home has 'green cards' throughout. Each instructs the renter succinctly on how to operate her home (such as lights, locks, dishwasher, etc) or informs you of expectations and explains why. Example: theres a 'live moss' picture (its so cool!) hanging high enough that small children could never reach it. The green card on the picture explains you cannot touch it or it will die. The green cards are extremely efficient and make your stay much more enjoyable as you are never left to wonder 'what if I' or 'how'. 4. White noise machines are in each bedroom. 5. The back yard is a secure, private haven. You can be out there at any hour talking and laughing with no issue. She only expects renters not to be excessively loud (screaming, music at the highest volume, etc).If you're lucky, you'll meet Matilda, the cutest dog in New Orleans! If you want comfort and clean, this is the place.
Amazing property! The amenities are endless, definitely well appointed. Location is perfect, close to everything but tucked away on a quiet street. Street parking with zero issues. If you are considering this property, look no more - book it!! Thanks for a wonderful stay.
We had a great stay and would recommend to others! Great location as only a few blocks to Magazine St and the trolley on St Charles. Loved having the backyard and hot tub to unwind in the evening. The bottle of champagne was a special treat. Hosts were wonderful and house was well stocked and very clean. Thanks for having us!
Came down to New Orleans for a few days with some girlfriends. The property is beautifully appointed and very clean. Lots of amenities were a really nice and unexpected touch. Kirk walked us through everything and was very communicative and helpful throughout our stay. I've stayed at a lot of rental properties and this was by far my favorite! Thanks for a great vaca!
You simply could not ask for a nicer home or nicer property owners. They have went above and beyond to make this a wonderful home that is lacking absolutely nothing!! Great location as well. Either walking distance or a very short drive to anything you could want. Will definitely be coming back here in the future!
They did an amazing job accommodating their guests. They went above and beyond! Thank you!
They did an amazing job with the decor. The house was the best part of our NOLA experience. You spoiled us with a the little extras as well. Thank you .
Merry Christmas
Home was exactly as described. They have really thought of everything. Neighborhood is quite. Street parking was adequate and we left the car parked the whole time and walked or ubered our way. Very comfortable stay. Owners were friendly, they live next door but left us on our own. Would absolutely stay here again. Can’t go wrong!
Not only was their beautiful creole cottage house perfectly NOLA, street parking was super accessible and the location in the lower Garden District was just right, but the host went out of his way to help me out, even bringing me an ice pack, considering I was injured before our trip. So friendly and welcoming! All the house instructions were easily accessible, the alarm system easy to use, it was only 3 blocks to magazine st, and a couple more to the streetcar, so many restaurants to choose from within a 6 block radius, and the French Quarter is only a15 min drive away. We will 100% stay here again and we fully recommend you stay here too. Their little dog was just the cherry on top and you'll love rocking on the porch and watching everyone go by.
We stayed in New Orleans for the TN vs LSU game. The drive to Baton Rouge was very easy! Kirk and Iwona’s shotgun style house was so beautiful!! Everything was perfectly appointed! The decor was amazing! The neighborhood was ok, and we felt very safe. Those traveling from larger metro areas prob wouldn’t think twice about the area. There was ample street parking. Thank you Iwona and Kirk!
Just three blocks from fashionable Magazine Street, this rental is modern, tastefully furnished and equipped with just about everything you need. Owners Kurt & Iwona are charming and responsive hosts who are attentive to the "little touches" that make one's stay that more pleasurable. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend this rental.
Loved to explore New Orleans and then come home to continue to enjoy historic feel of the city in our clean, fully stocked comfortable "Shotgun" home. Owners were right next door, to make sure we had everthing we needed, but also respected our privacy. They even were there to greet us at the door when we checked in late at 2am from our west coast flight. Unit was stocked with everything to prepare for a wedding (iron, ironing board, steamer, laundry machines) also had amazing accomodations of 10 flavors of coffee Keurig cups, lots of hair and skin products, all appliances and utilities worked 100%. We enjoyed the cooler mornings on the front porch rocking chairs and the warm evenings on the deck in the back. Will definitely recommend to friends and family and hope to come back soon. Thank you Iwona and Kirk!
We had a wonderful stay at Kirk and Iwona's place. I appreciated all of the amenities and attention to detail throughout the home. Everything had been thought of and provided. :) Both were quick to respond with any questions. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again!

About the host
Hosted by Iwona Leonard
I am Polish and I have traveled extensively throughout Europe and the U.S., staying mostly in hostels and STRs, I love meeting new people and seeing new places. The only thing we need in life is the freedom to pursue our dreams. I think that every person before exploring the world should first explore the country they are living in. Someone once told us that when we get comfortable in life we stop living. Therefore I try to step out of our comfort zone and see whats out there.
Why they chose this property
My neighborhood has a very unique, eclectic flavor all its own. Centered around Coliseum Square, the area is one of graceful vistas and curving streets, replete with classical names like Dryades, Melpomene, and Terpsichore. Lee Circle, originally named Tivoli Circle, was envisioned as an anchor for the nine streets that extend from it, all named after the nine muses. The houses here actually predate those of the Garden District proper, since they were built in the early years of the 19th century during the city's upriver expansion from the French Quarter. Today, as in the past, the Lower Garden District is a neighborhood ripe for discovery, filled with architectural gems, magnificent old streets, interesting residents, and a rich cultural heritage that only gets better with time. Take a short walk to Magazine Street where there is something for everyone. Miles of retail therapy can be found all over. Shop rare antiques, luxurious artwork, and stylish boutiques. Choose restaurants, from classic to modern, upscale to casual, and brunch to late-night munchies. Enjoy drinks, from college and neighborhood dive bars to craft cocktails, there’s no shortage of lively spots. Take the St. Charles Avenue Streetcar to the zoo, parks, universities, and cemeteries. You can also walk to local breweries, unique coffee shops, restaurants, and the grocery store. I am about a 5 min walk from Magazine street and about 10 min walk from St. Charles (where you can hop on the oldest Street Car in the U.S.). Drive to the French Quarter is about 15 minutes, depending on traffic. You can also use Uber/ Lyft or rent a city bike. Local buses are available.
What makes this property unique
I welcome each guest with fresh flowers, a welcome card, and a chilled bottle of champagne. I have tried to include anything that a guest may need during their stay and are constantly updating this list based on guest recommendations. I live on the other side of the double and I am always available to help.
