We loved Peter and Deb's home. The property is peaceful and the home has everything you could want.It is a well loved home; not a generic rental. The bed were incredibly comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped. Communication was amazing too. I could live here! I'd highly recommend staying here. You can't go wrong!

Hi Michael-- I'm only now realizing...almost a year later...that I'm supposed to respond to the VRBO reviews we get. More than that, I want to thank you again for your excellent review, and hope you might even come back sometime. Thanks again...hope all's well. Peter
Very quiet beautiful zen-like location. Very gracious to extend our check in time to help us.

Hi Theresa--I'm only realizing now, more than a month later, that I'm supposed to respond to the VRBO reviews we get. So...thanks very much for staying at our house. I appreciated your feedback, too, though have to say I was a little surprised about your comments on cleanliness -- we've been renting on VRBO for four years, every single time a five star review, and cleanliness, which we work very hard to achieve and maintain, has never once come up. Ah well, we'll soldier on the best we can! Hope all's well. Peter
We loved the location. Their land was beautiful and so peaceful. We loved spending the mornings outside. The house was old in the best way! It was the perfect vibe for what we were looking for. It had that old house smell but you get used to it quickly. We also loved the town of Kent, so charming! Overall, so happy with our stay and would do it all over again,!
This property was nothing short of everything it promised. Great location. Close enough to town but secluded so you felt like it was very private. The home was beautiful and the pool was a huge bonus. The owners were excellent to communicate with. They answered promptly to questions, gave great information and added to the ease of our trip!

House was just as described! Comfy beds, welcome package filled with goodies, appliances galore, pretty kitchen and Livingroom. Quiet and peaceful plus pretty yard and view. Wish weather has been better so we could indulge in pool. Had a great time.

Hi Amy-- I'm only just realizing now that I'm supposed to respond to reviews, even if I'm four months late. Thank you again for your excellent review. Come back sometime but, mainly, hope all's with you. Peter
Though not far from the charming village of Kent, the property is secluded in a lovely forest setting. The house is nicely furnished and fully and generously equipped. The hosts, Peter and Deb, are supremely gracious and responsive. Adds up to a wonderful getaway.

Hi Claude--I've been looking through past renters and reviews and realize I never thanked you for your nice review. Thank you. Come back! And...Happy Holidays.
Peter
The house and grounds are well-described by the listing and the hosts, Peter and Deb are kind, considerate and businesslike. The place is large and rambling, at least for one couple. The kitchen is expansive, well designed, and well stocked. Despite being 7 minues from downtown Kent, the location is also very quiet (with an undertone of from an adjacent burbling brook). The living room also contains a nicely-stocked and curated library of fiction, biographies and politics books published over the last 25 years. Bottom line - this is very much one family's well-executed home away from home - and any VRBO guests wise enough respectfully to accept it on those terms will greatly enjoy it!

Hi Jed-- Just catching up now, but, again, thank you for your review. Hope all's well. You were an excellent renter and hope you'll come back again (and/or buy your own place in wonderful NW Connecticut.
An absolutely magnificent rental (property and hosts)!
This was one of the most wonderful rentals my husband and I have ever experienced. We had a newborn and were looking for a long-term rental that could accommodate my husband working remotely, a new baby and parents who came to help out and was not only the perfect property but Deb and Peter were amazing hosts. From the beginning they were in touch with all the details, ensuring us that the house was stocked with the necessities (which it was and more). The house is located on a beautiful road, with incredibly friendly neighbors (who we met on our frequent walks). It's quiet with a gorgeous back yard where we had happy hour and grilled out almost every night. The kitchen is fantastic, with everything you could need including a huge window, which was lovely to sit by for morning coffee. There is also a TV with all the apps you could need (amazon, netflix, etc.) for movie nights and a pool! (It was a little too cold for us to really take advantage of the pool, but in a few weeks it will be perfect!). The location close enough to Kent for easy grocery shopping (really love the Davis IGA!) and take out for the nights we didn't want to cook (highly recommend The Villager and JP Giffords). It was also close to several walks and some serious hikes, all of which are laid out in the guide to the house that was left for us. We enjoyed our time so much here and are so sad to be leaving - We periodically sent Deb and Peter pictures of our son as he spent the first couple weeks of his life here and we can't wait to come back when he's older and can remember the experience.

Hi Nina--I've just been looking back, on VRBO, Hi through past renters and reviews, and remembering all over again what great renters you were. I hope all is well with you and your great family and, to state the obvious, you are welcome back ANY TIME!
Quiet place, nested in beautiful nature.
Lots of outdoor space, beautiful kitchen and big living room. The pool wasn’t open yet but seems great too, would definitely recommend staying there.

Hi Omri-- I hope you're well. I'm just realizing that I'm supposed to respond to your review, even if I'm almost a year and a half late. Thank you again for your excellent review; it was a pleasure having you stay in our NW Connecticut house. --Peter
The property was a beautiful well kept cozy house tucked away from main roads. It was the perfect winter escape from the city with a fireplace and nature at your footsteps. The house had a great board game collection, interesting books, and wonderful wildlife watching (deer, turkey, and great bird watching). Kent contained nice shops, numerous hiking trails, and good restarants. The hosts were extremely helpful and made sure everything was ready for our arrival and were always very kind and ready to answer any questions. It was our favorite stay on VRBO.

John--Once again, thank you for your wonderful review. Hope all's well. Peter
My daughter and I had an absolutely lovely time at Deb and Peter’s house in Kent. It’s set in a quiet little nook in the woods that is at once secluded and beautiful — we loved watching the wildlife outside the big kitchen window—but nevertheless an easy drive to Kent and other towns/hiking areas/nature preserves etc. The kitchen is well-appointed and sunny, the living room cozy and comfortable with a terrific library, board games and a great fireplace, and the beds super comfortable. Our hosts left us a thoughtful gift basket and were extremely accessible, friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Easily one of the top trips we’ve taken—we can’t wait to go back!

Hi Jennifer--I've just been looking through past reviews and saw yours, all of which reminded me what wonderful renters you and your daughter were. Hope you'll come back, but more than that, hope all's well. Peter
This lovely home is tucked away in the woods at the end of a quiet street, with beautiful views of a pond and brook. It's private and cozy (can’t see your neighbors from the backyard) and outfitted with a spacious kitchen that was perfect for our thanksgiving feast. We felt nestled in nature but only five or so minutes from the charming town of Kent. Peter and Deborah were extremely thoughtful and communicative hosts. All in all, we had a fantastic week-long stay here, and would love to return.

The house had everything we were looking for, but principally comfort and quiet. Stove, dishwasher and other appliances are high end and worked as you'd expect. We used the living room with its excellent library and working fireplace every evening. There is a wonderful view from the kitchen including forest, pond and, in the distance, Skiff Mountain. Occasionally, a family of about 6 turkeys wander in and out of the scene. We had the house for only a week and wish we'd planned for a longer stay. The owners are personable and responsive. We plan to stay again..and again...
We spent a wonderful month renting this lovely little cottage in Kent. Pete and Deb are gracious hosts - the house was completely stocked, no detail was overlooked. The property is magnificent, so green with woods all around, and the pool was a terrific bonus. We grilled and enjoyed the deck as well. The home is close to the town of Kent which has a nice variety of places to eat; we took advantage of outdoor dining since the weather was great while we were there. We absolutely loved our time in Kent and look forward to spending time there again soon!

This property was exactly what we were looking for. Small, close to town and yet you feel like you are out in the country. It was quiet, serene and the perfect spot for us. Will definitely stay here again if our travels require a stay in Kent!
