Michael and I are long time residents of Johnson City, Texas, which is a small community in the Texas Hill Country about an hour west of Austin or north of San Antonio, on the way to either the Highland Lakes or Fredericksburg. We have a small farm on the west edge of town with lots of chickens and guineas (and one peacock), two precious donkeys, and a couple of cute dogs and cats who love company, and a gorgeous back yard with huge old live oak trees. We love any excuse to sit in the swing and visit for a while. We enjoy meeting new people and have hosted many friends and our large extended family for many years in our comfortable farmhouse. In addition to the Writer's Cabin, we have two beautiful guest rooms in the Farmhouse that we love to share with travelers to our area, providing a welcome respite from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Michael is originally from Lousiana and loves to cook and keep our yard beautiful. I run an insurance business from my home office, and I also love to tend my flowers and enjoy hosting our BnB and cooking. We are low key and love kids, animals and nature in just about any form. We believe we live in the very BEST part of Texas and we would to get to know YOU!

Why they chose this property

I have always lived in the country, and when I was looking for a new home in 1993, the live oak trees on this property made me fall in love with it. The added bonus was the big house with lots of room for my four kids to grow up in, with a little barn and farm space for animals that are a standard requirement in our world. When Michael joined our family in 1996, he brought our passion for growing things and tending animals to a whole new level, along with three more growing kids. Our place was Grand Central for kids for many years, and we missed that when the kids all grew up, so now we fill our space with guests from all over the world, many who have become treasured friends that return regularly to enjoy the peace and quiet here on the Farm and our numerous local attractions, wineries and restaurants.

What makes this property unique

Our favorite place to relax and visit with guests is in the backyard under the trees (our Outdoor Living Room) or on our front porch swing. The most fun we have is preparing a big country style breakfast for our guests, and allowing them the opportunity to get to know us and our other guests in a relaxed family setting, drink lots of good coffee and eat good home-cooked food.
