Nice place near st Catarina

Compact simple house a few km from Santa Catarina on a nice and quiet place surrounded by nature. Hosts are sympathetic and welcoming. Thanks for the pleasant stay!

Great and very quiet holiday home

Neat and neatly furnished and very quietly located holiday home. Located on a 2 kilometer long country road outside the village of Santa Catarina del Fonte. Wifi is good and reception by Maria and her husband was fine.

Away from it all

Great property to escape the pace of life. Can slow down and connect with the environment and really rechargd the batteries here. Property is 2km from ghe nearest village and very quiet.Host was great and made sure our stay was all we could hope for.

Lovely quiet location

Excellent. A slightly challenging 2 kms drive up a dirt track but the benefit is a very tranquil location.

After unforseen difficulties getting to the villa causing a lot of stress, we finally arrived... thirsty, hungry and tired. We were very disappointed at no welcome package. We have not been abroad for year's, but when we have booked villas previously, we were always greeted with a few essentials such as water, milk, bread etc. After our traumatic first few hours in Portugal we were ready to fly home the next day.We felt the villa was a little tired requiring some updating and unfortunately, lots of waste and debris around outside that simply required clearance. To end though, the location is beautiful and quiet which we mostly enjoyed.

A great place to escape after a day exploring

We very much enjoyed our stay, the house was clean and comfortable. Maria was great meeting us in town so we could follow her to the house and had a bottle of wine for us. At first we thought it was quite remote but after a few trips to town it was really not that far and there are many other homes in the area. Santa Catarina was wonderful, great restaurants and a wonderful bakery. Only 15 minutes to Alvira, it fit our needs perfectly to explore the eastern part of the Algarve. The weather was still quite hot in late September so the pool was a nice relief at the end of the day.

Peaceful Countryside Retreat

Our hosts Maria and Paul were very friendly and accommodating. Meeting them in Santa Catarina made finding the villa easy. The villa overall was good and the fireplace extremely useful in the evenings. The kitchen oven not working made it slightly harder for our Christmas meals but didn’t spoil our stay. The new kitchen was installed as we left. The location is brilliant for peace and quiet. We would not hesitate to recommend this lovely house.

Return to Paradise for Christmas and New Year

This is our third time to this little gem in the countryside and as always it was superb. We spent the whole of Christmas and New Year, a total of 4 weeks. Maria ordered us enough firewood for our holiday, so the cottage was nice and cosy, she even put flannelette sheets and pillow cases on the bed for extra comfort and warmth, I would strongly recommend this lovely place to anyone who wants it quiet at night but close enough to all amenities and beaches if that is your thing.... we will be back again and again

A gem in the countryside

This lovely little house is set in a valley with mother nature as your host, it is a bit of a bumpy ride up the 2km track, but that wasn't a problem and soon became part of the fun. You wake up every morning to sound of song birds singing and got to bed with the song of the Nightingale. The house has everything you require, no matter if you cook or eat out at the little cafés in Santa Caterina and the biggest BBQ you have ever seen. The owners Maria and Paulo are the nicest people you ever wished to meet and welcome you on arrival. The property was spotlessly clean and well maintained, we will definitely be going again, loved it... Tony & Margaret Bason

Wonderful do-lots, do-nothing getaway.

The cottage nestles in a beautiful valley a mile north of the town along a dusty track, and is therefore very quiet and secluded. You can laze about in the sun all day or walk the tracks that meander over the surrounding hills (Google maps shows them all in grey). The scenery is stunning. Or you can use the cottage as a base from which you can explore further west along the Algarve coast (in our case, as far as Lagos) or further east into Spain (we got to Sevilla, spent a day and a night there, then went down to Gibralta and Tarifa) or further north into the glorious hills. Just down the road are the ferries to all the barrier islands enclosing the Formosa delta. The beaches are stunning and so is the wildlife. Something for everyone. Oh, and Maria and Paulo were delightful and did everything we asked of them. Hosts with enthusiasm!

Wij verbleven uiteindelijk 3 weken in januari in het landhuis. De ontvangst was voortreffelijk. Maria en Paolo zijn een geweldig koppel. Het huis is precies zoals op de foto's op de website. Het hout voor de houtkachel is absoluut noodzakelijk, want er is verder geen verwarming in het huis. Wel is er een elektrisch kacheltje, dat wij gebruikten om de badkamer te verwarmen. Wij hadden alle 3 de weken hevige regen. Zodanig, dat het toegangspad onbegaanbaar werd. In overleg met Maria zijn we toen verhuisd naar een van hun apartementen in Tavira. Fijn, dat ze ons daarmee zo goed hebben geholpen. Daar hebben we nog 5 weken verbleven. Jammer van de vele regen, want het landhuis is een heerlijk plek om te verblijven als de zon schijnt. Mooie natuur met fluitende vogeltjes in de ochtend. Het zwembad was in januari en februari te koud om te gebruiken, maar wel fijn in de zomer. Maria en Paolo, bedankt voor alle goede zorgen!

Sehr erholsamer Urlaub

Wir haben uns in dem Haus sehr wohlgefĂŒhlt. Maria und Ihr Mann waren sehr freundlich, immer erreichbar und haben uns tolle Ausflugstipps gegeben.Der Bungalow liegt abgelegen, im hĂŒgeligen GelĂ€nde NĂ€he Santa Catarina. Wer es ruhig mag, ohne Trubel (so wie wir) der ist hier genau richtig.Man kann am und im Haus gut entspannen, der Pool wurde tĂ€glich von der ganzen Familie benutzt und WLAN ist auch vorhanden.Im nahegelegenen Dorf kann man gut Lebensmittel einkaufen, sonntags findet hier auch immer ein Markt statt. Oder man fĂ€hrt zum Einkaufen in die nĂ€chste Stadt (Tavira), wo man auch einen schönen Strand vorfindet.Bei der Wahl des Mietwagens sollte darauf geachtet werden, dass der Weg zum Haus ein langer Schotterweg ist, der beim Fahrzeug einer entsprechenden Bodenfreiheit bedarf.Der Urlaub hat uns sehr gefallen, wir wĂŒrden jeder Zeit wieder kommen.

Unser Aufenthalt war super. Maria und ihr Mann waren super nett und stehts bemĂŒht. Die lage des hauses war einfach ein traum. Man hat zwar fast keinem empfang fĂŒrs handy aber bei der umgebung ist das absolut perfekt so. Wir werden aufjedenfall wieder kommen.

Beautiful private place

Super schönes Haus mit allem ausgestattet was nötig ist um einen schönen Urlaub zu verbringen! Mitten im nichts und dennoch innerhalb von 10min Fußweg in der nĂ€chsten Stadt. die Gastgeber wohnen selber 15min weiter weg und sind sehr zuvorkommen und hilfsbereit. Gerne wieder!

Natur und Ruhe

Wir haben unseren Aufenthalt sehr genossen und waren glĂŒcklich ĂŒber diesen schönen, ruhigen Ort im Hinterland. Die Algarve ist lebendig genug und alles gut zu erreichen. An die Fahrt gewöhnt man sich, wir hatten einen Kleinwagen und konnten die Straße gut meistern. Vor Ort hat es uns an nichts gefehlt und der Kontakt mit Maria und ihrem Mann war sehr verbindlich und unkompliziert. Dass der Handyempfang so schlecht ist, war eher erholsam und hat uns nicht gestört.

Quinta Rouxinol

Wir hatten eine wunderschöne Woche in der Quinta. Mitten in der Natur. Man hört nichts außer den GerĂ€uschen der Zikaden. Das Haus war wie beschrieben. Alles was man benötigt war vorhanden. Auch die Sauberkeit war nicht zu bemĂ€ngeln. Man sollte evtl im vorraus wissen, dass man um an das Haus zu gelangen eine ca. 2-3 km lange unbefestigte enge Straße entlang fahren muss und dies bei der Auswahl des Mietwagens evtl. berĂŒcksichtigen sollte. Ein gelĂ€ndefĂ€higes Auto ist von Vorteil. Auch der Telefonempfang bzw. Internetempfang ist stark eingeschrĂ€nkt und nur an wenigen Stellen auf dem GelĂ€nde vorhanden. Dies hat uns allerdings gar nicht gestört. Ganz im Gegenteil. Dadurch konnte man sich noch mehr entspannen und die Umgebung genießen. Auch die Vermieter waren immer sehr hilfsbereit und freundlich und antworteten stets schnell bei Fragen. Wir wĂŒrden jederzeit wieder dort Urlaub machen und kommen sicher irgendwann wieder.

Sitio muito tranquilo

Foi Agradåvel deu para descansar. Só se houve as cigarras e os passarinhos. Pena não haver rede de telemóvel e net o que para os jovens e para quem precisa de trabalhar foi bastante aborrecido. O caminho é de estrada batida de 15 minutos até chegar à casa. Mas no geral foi bom para descansar e a cada e as comodidades são boas. Tem tudo o que se precisa para passar uma boa semana de férias.

Tranquilite absolue

Propriete tres agreable si vous aimez le calme. Si vous n'aimez pas le beton et la foule c'est la que vous devez aller...juste le chant des oiseaux. Maison typique portugaise renovee en partie superbe. Maria et son mari sont tres sympatiques. Nous avons passe une semaine au top.
