A Piece of paradise

This lake guesthouse was more than we expected. the views from all the windows were spectacular, the water, birds and trees. very relaxing! It was very comfortable, so charming and beautifully decorated! Laura had excellent communications with us and was very accommodating. We will be coming back.

Perfect week

Property is even better than the pictures online. My husband and I have stayed at this Lake Gaston cottage several times, and we have loved it every time. Hosts are terrific-they give you your privacy, but are always available, if you need them. NEVER had a problem, though as everything is in perfect working order. We will definitely be back again.

Perfect Stay at Lake Gaston

This property looks as beautiful as the photos online depict. Right on the lake and the sunsets were amazing! Property was very clean and well cared for. Lots of little extra touches - like a few bottles of cold water in the fridge, night light in the bathroom, shower cap, toothpaste, razor, etc. We loved the included toys - kayaks & canoes. The hosts, Laura & Butch, were friendly and willing to assist in any way. We will definitely be back again, and will stay at this property! In fact, we tried to buy it but, unfortunately, it is not for sale.

Nice, super clean, perfect lakeside spot. House is compact but very open and never felt cramped. Great views - 280 deg view of the lake in a nice lakeside neignborhood. The main house is close but you don't really see it from the cottage. Big full size dock and for boating or lounging. Plus a little strip of sand to launch kayaks. Loved it! All very fresh and new-ish inside and a very functional little kitchn space with a full size fridge.

Perfect lake front cottage

This lake cottage is the most amazing and thoughtfully well done VRBO/ Air B&B we’ve ever stayed in. Tucked away, down a private lane shared by only two other lakefront homes, the cottage is situated lake front on the property of the owners home such that you have nearly complete privacy. Inside was spotlessly clean and cozy with gorgeous water views from every window. My husband and I agreed that staying there in any weather would be wonderful because if you had a rainy or cold day you could snuggle up in the cottage with a good book, puzzle or game - all while looking out onto the beautiful lake. So now let me take you outside. We had complete access to the boathouse and all of their non-motorized lake toys. The boathouse was like a cozy living room out over the water with both shade areas and sun deck. The furniture was so comfortable - the futon bed/couch swing, built by Butch, was awesome. It was the perfect reading/watching the lake/napping spot. There were people out enjoying water sports on the lake but we had our own practically private oasis. Swimming off of the dock and just floating around with pool noodles or the wonderful floating lounge chairs was so relaxing. Kayaking along the coves was fun. I’m a walker and each morning I walked through the neighborhood down to the main road and back which was just about 1 1/2 mile each way - keep a lookout - I saw a bald eagle a few times on my walks. We’re already planning a cooler weather trip to enjoy the cottages stone patio with the outdoor fireplace and fire pit table. And Laura and Butch were absolutely wonderful. The thought and love that they have put into everything went above and beyond in every way.

Two very relaxing weeks

My husband and I enjoyed two vert relaxing weeks at the guest house. Even though we had record heat for one of the weeks, we still got up early and fished off the boat dock and caught fish each day and even enjoyed some canoeing. Our host were wonderful, even offering there fridge and two long extension cords from their home to the guest house so we could charge our devises due to power outage from a strong storm that blew through.We will be definitely be back next year!

Wonderful escape!

There's a reason this property and these hosts are exceptional - so many details are provided to make this a very special place to find some peace and quiet. We have lived at Lake Gaston for nearly 5 years now, having lived in Richmond, while raising our kids. Once they had their wings, we had our wings and fulfilled our dream of living at this beautiful lake. Laura grew up on a lake in the Adirondacks and couldn't wait to get back to lake life. We love boating, skiing, floating on the lake with a cocktail in hand, going out to dinner by boat and sailing on our sunfish when there's a nice breeze.
Prior to being a guesthouse, it was an over-sized two-car garage. Because we have 6 children who are now beginning to marry and start families, and lack of room for all at the main house, we decided to change the garage into a guesthouse to accommodate them. Being that the garage was lakefront with better views than the main house, it was an easy decision. When the kids and now grandkids, aren't here, we make it available to you.

Why they chose this property

Beautiful water views in every direction. Located on wide main lake cove. See the main lake but sheltered from boats and their waves. Long, narrow beach, 14 feet of water at end of the boathouse. Ladder up to top dock to jump off! Kayaks and a canoe for guest use as well as water loungers. Fire tables on private patio and at the dock in front of the large swing. Wood burning stone fireplace just added Sept 2021 on your patio. Sun and shade areas on dock. Be a bartender at the NautiBar! Rent a boat and keep it at the dock. Boat rental and fishing tour information available. Guesthouse manual with lists of things to do as well as restaurants in the area.

What makes this property unique

For couples staying a week or more, included is a one hour ride tour our 24 foot pontoon boat at a mutually agreeable time.
