RELAX and ENJOY! This newly renovated home is a vacation and fisherman's paradise!
Enjoy one of the most spectacular waterfront views in Florida, directly on the St. Johns River, within the Ocala National Forest! Watch the sun rise from your dock. See owls, hummingbirds, deer and manatee in your own back yard. Pristine natural beauty abounds in all directions while you have every amenity in your own private home.

With 270 feet of waterfront, this three-bedroom two bath house is lovely, bright, clean, and ready for the perfect getaway experience. We’re right in the center of an untouched boating, fishing, & swimming paradise.

Just south of Astor, FL, we’re located 30 minutes from Ormond/Daytona Beaches, 60 minutes from Disney/Universal Studios or historic St. Augustine. The house is nicely furnished with a full kitchen and washer/dryer. There is a complete A/V system including satellite TV, DVR, High-speed Wi-fi and computer . You can sleep 6-8 people very comfortably.

Nature at it's best

The accommodation was fantastic, the location was just right. I could have stopped there looking and listening to nature for long, long time. Communication was good and there was plenty to do.

Couldn't have wished for a better place.

If you enjoy nature then I don't think you could rent anywhere better than this property. The garden is like a wildlife park with the number of different birds / animals that visit or swim past. The house itself is comfortable with an inbuilt air conditioning system which kept the house at a pleasant temperature but without the noise associated with individual units. The kitchen is well equipped with a large fridge/freezer with an inbuilt temperature control storage box for meats / fruit / vegetables. The lanai area is great for the evenings as we found that sitting outside in the open we were food for a number of insects. If we did not live over 4200 miles away in the UK we'd be renting this property at every opportunity. Many thanks for letting us stay at this little piece of heaven.

Serenity

This is a great house to stay in, especially if you like to be in nature. Nicely stocked. Most places dont stock as well as they do for this one. They even put together a book of info on hiking and trails and more. You can fish right off the dock. And they have a canoe. You will see gators for sure. And manatees as well. Great place to kick back and relax!

Perfect Escape

A friend and I met for a relaxing weekend. The back porch and lounge chairs are perfect for mornings enjoying coffee and the river. The quality of the linens, pillows, and bedding were appreciated. The kitchen was week-equipped and the water pressure was great.

Spotless and beautiful home away from home

The home was spotless and very inviting. The kitchen was very user friendly. We cooked outside one night and due to rain, we cooked and ate inside one night. Water views of the river, especially at sunrise were spectacular! The home included satellite tv but no cable stations. We would absolutely stay here again!

Only disappointment was the water was not fishable due to vegetation which was not shown in online photos. Otherwise an enjoyable place, pleasant surroundings and very responsive hosts.

Just right river home.

This is a sweet little home on an even sweeter piece of the St Johns River for couples to reconnect or bring their family. The sunrise on the dock with coffee and pastry starts every morning off just right! We love this place!

Wonderful Riverfront House for Nature Lovers

We recently had the pleasure of staying at this fantastic house perfectly situated by the river. The location is a true paradise for nature enthusiasts. Right at the house, we observed alligator gar, manatees, alligators, ospreys, and owls. Just a two-minute walk from the house, we even spotted a black bear and a wild boar. The house itself is spacious and equipped with everything one might need for a comfortable stay. Gina and Frank were easily reachable and extremely kind and helpful throughout our stay. Highly recommended for anyone looking to immerse themselves in nature while enjoying all the comforts of home.

Frank and Gina Walker live in DeLand, FL, which is about thirty minutes away. We met at Stetson University, had to move away for work for twenty years but returned to this beautiful area about ten years ago. We have four grown children.
We clean our rental home ourselves and try to ensure that every family enjoys their stay as much as we have enjoyed it with our own family!

Why they chose this property

Astor is precious, a secluded bit of untouched Florida, which is difficult to find these days! The air is fresh from the river. A few days in the sunshine can calm the spirit!

What makes this property unique

The River House is south of downtown, far from the noise of the bridge traffic. To the north and south, on the river, are small islands that create privacy and calm the boat traffic. The river in our area is wide, and a state refuge runs on the opposite bank, so the view offers natural Florida at its best!
