As it was the height of a heatwave we were very glad for the garden area. We only stayed 3 nights but had a lovely time. Comfortable beds. Safe place for our dog, in a secure garden. Unfortunately we did not do any sight seeing due to the extremely hot weather. We would definitely come back for another visit at a cooler time. Lovely hostess. Thank you Josette!!

Host and property were completely delightful. Josette greeted us with home-made flan, as well as brioche and a gallette; she bent over backwards to ensure our stay was lovely. SO happy to have stayed there!

Josette was very welcoming and warmed the house before our arrival. The addition French cake and breakfast food was a lovely touch. The home is quirky, which is the only reason for not giving 5 stars. It was perfect location for a one night stop on our travels with our dog.

Lovely gardens

We enjoyed our stay but the weather unfortunately meant we couldn’t enjoy the garden as much as we would have liked. As detailed the property is quirky and quite small, so wouldn’t recommend for a longer stay

First time visit to the area

A little surprised by the quaintness of the oroperty at first but it was thouroughly charming and homely. Wonderful garden and patio areas with lots of interesting features. Very clean and very well equipped. We loved it, was always a joy to return after a busy day out and about. Lovely beach 6 mins away by car with good parking and nice restaurants. Opposite a really beautiful chateau. Host, Was very welcoming and helpful. Would definitely stay again

Dirty old stinky gardenshed.

It was really dirty the house was full of mold, mold in the refrigerator, also on the outside of the refrigerator door, damp spots everywhere. Everything was stuck together with duck tape. It looked much better on the photo

Thank you very much for your comments It's true after weeks of rain and storm and in autumn The garden cannot be as it was in spring time!! Also as I had in following several people with big dogs who made lot of problems all round the house and the garden, even yours!!! who roll in the water outside and I suppose dry himself on my carpet??? I have been obliged to threw it away and buy another one (cause the smell)!! and find hairs everywhere after your go out!! (In the house there are brush, vacuum cleaner and products to clean) And as in France as elsewhere I suppose to obtain quickly people to repair it is not easy,I have try to make my maximum!! So I am not sure I will go on to accept pets!!

Not your ordinary gite!

A difficult review to write! There is some truth in the more negative reviews, and the shower (over a typical French hip bath) does require a degree of athleticism not always granted to us older types - and is not the greatest shower anyway. On the other hand, the history of the site is fascinating, and the now decaying outbuildings were in their time a genuine wonderland complete with beach and pool fed by the mill race!! What remains we found comfortable and the shaded evenings in the warm garden were beautiful and will always be a fond memory. So my advice to future visitors is to read a good selection of the reviews on line and then decide whether you could be happy here. We were, we loved it, and we might well return. I do not know how much longer Josette can maintain the property in a rentable condition - but she is a wonderful host and in a short time we felt we had made a new friend. We recommend the host and the property!

Oh, well.?

Well, to compare with other properties in the area the price was tempting as welll as location and discription of the rental. Josette was very welcoming, made some baked custard dessert for us and left us some basics for breakfast. Also not everyone would take a dog, but... it was a stange place, a summer house or a shed in a neglected garden/allotement with other derelict buildings around, what one would keep for personal use only and definitly not for letting out to paying lodgers. Everything feels like a half-finished DIY project, furnishings were cast or worren out (something left over from 60-70s what owners didn't bother to take to a skip?). Bedrooms: one room with a bouncy bed with an old mattress (for two people? - no way!); second -a walk-in cupboard; bedding was so old - we went to by our own as well as scented candles to mask that old shed smell. There was no owen, washing machine or a dishwasher, not even a toaster, just an old hob stove, kettle and a cheap microwave. Very noisy D-road, but it gives very good access to commercial zones at both ends of it. The weather was good though so we spent most of the time out.

Happy you enjoyed my custard dessert.... It's true that the cottage is not made for IKEA furniture lovers!!! It's true also that is not announced on the site that you will find a washing machine (sheets,towels and linens... are provided!!), a dishwasher (the cottage is for 2/3) or an owen (the microwave can grill).The Bed in the Bedroom N°1 is not also for people who are used to king size bed, as it is a normal bed for 2 (140x200) and in Bedroom N°2 a bed for one person (usually in France for one person the size is 90x200 but here the size is 120x200!!). The Cottage is on a land of 2000m2 but only 500m2 round the cottage have been restored and are part of the rental and you are not supposed to trepass the panels "Limites d'accès"!!!. As it is said also on the site, I have inherited this cottage 2 years ago at the death of my mother. The place (build by my father) was just like disneyland..but he died 14 years ago... My goal is just to make it as it was...unfortunately last year I had an accident and staid 6 months immobilized!! The nature grows very quickly.and as we say in french ; "Paris ne s'est pas fait en un jour"!!!

maison insalubre . Dans la cuisine arriver d'eau des robinets pas visser .Dans la chambre au niveau de la porte de sortie le plancher se trou et se pourrie il y a une planche sur l'enfoncement et aussi un tapis .Pour prendre une douche il ni y a pas de pression d'eau et l'éponge pour la vaisselle était noir et usager . Le jardin n'est pas entretenue il y a des petite bestioles et moustique le petit courent d'eau pas entretenue .La maison aussi est très humide .Je trouve que 100 euros la journée c'est très cher pour ce que ça vaux . Je passerais plus par Abritel mauvaise expérience . Cordialement Mr Valery Eric
