About this property
Pet-Friendly Lakeside Chalet with Sauna!
Welcome to Cattail Chalet, your cozy retreat nestled on the shores of Lower Holly Lake, in Stone Lake, Wisconsin. This open-concept cabin, built in 2019, boasts a perfect blend of modern comfort and rustic charm.
First, some quick notes:
Parking -- We kindly ask for a 4 vehicle limit. The driveway is the only place to park and it is not very big :-).
Dock Install/removal -- We usually take the dock out of the water late October (we wait as long as we can) and we usually put it back in around mid/late April (we try to get it in as soon as we can). If you are looking at dates during either of these times of the year, don't hesitate to reach out to confirm status before booking.
If you are thinking of bringing your own boat, ATV's, snowmobiles, etc, get a hold of me so we can talk logistics. The road coming into the cabin is tight, and so is the driveway.
Cabin Highlights:
• Spacious Living: With 4 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, and a finished walk-out basement, this 2,000 sq ft haven comfortably sleeps 10 guests. The beauty of the lake is right at your doorstep. • Entertainment Galore: The fully finished walk-out basement is a game-lover's paradise, featuring a ping pong table. For those seeking relaxation, the gas fireplaces on the main floor and in the basement provide warmth and charm during the winter months. • Full Kitchen: The complete kitchen, with a spacious center island, is a chef's dream. The dining table, seating 10, is perfect for shared meals and memorable conversations.

We had a great family weekend at the Cattail Chalet! We enjoyed time spent with our kids, grandkids and grand dogs. We spent the weekend ice fishing, fired up the sauna and had a bonfire outside with s’mores. We played games and did a couple puzzles too. We were close enough to both Hayward and Stone Lake! The cabin was extremely clean and had everything we needed! Would highly recommend!!
Great cabin with a nice sauna! Very well equipped and spacious. The only drawback is that the amenities on the website include "grill" but the "grill" is actually an outdoor griddle. We brought items to grill that would have been much better on a real gas or charcoal grill and were surprised to find a griddle.
We had a great week at the Cattail Chalet with family. The cabin was comfortable and had everything we needed, with nice touches like the sauna and fire pit. We spent a lot of time outside; kayaking, fishing right off the dock, and just relaxing by the lake. The kids were thrilled to catch fish, and we all enjoyed hearing the loons in the evenings. It was the perfect spot for a mix of fun and downtime together as a family.
Great cabin for a family gathering, wished we could be there in the future to enjoy all the possible outdoor activities on the lake and property. Great place to visit, great hosts!

Very clean, very beautiful area. Was told the night prior to our arrival that a lawn care person would be coming midweek weather permitting,no specific day/time .Since our trip was mon-fri, we had to anticipate a time they would arrive, we didn't care for the "staying on our toes" feeling it left us with.
We had a great time staying at the cabin, we were able to enjoy the lake and the area. It was clean and comfortable and everyone loved the amenities! Beautiful setting, nice a peaceful!
A very nice property that is nicely furnished with a gorgeous view of the lake. The amenities were excellent. I would stay here again and again and again. The host was awesome from check-in, answering random questions, and at check-out.
Lovely getaway for our families! While I was concerned about the amount of kitchen items available, it really wasn't a big deal to pack a few extra spices. Cooking on the blackstone (first for me) was exciting as well! The lake was warm, and the kids enjoyed swimming and the boat toys. Unfortunately there was an abundance of lily pads near the dock so fishing and swimming was most successful out on the water. We loved the sauna after swimming and on the cool days rainy days. Close enough to Hayward for conveniences and tucked away on a gravel road for seclusion. Don't hesitate to book this one!
Had a wonderful girls weekend with my friends. We even enjoyed canoeing on the lake after a break in the rain. Would definitely come out to stay again.
We had 10 people in our party stay at the cabin for the weekend. The cabin is beautiful and had everything we needed to make meals. It was a very cold weekend, but the cabin stayed nice and warm. Brad was very responsive with all our questions. We look forward to renting again!
Beautiful property and home! We did lots of fishing, kayaking, nightly fires and memories made ♡ looking forward to coming back again next year hopefully!
Awesome place, five year olds loved it all the way up to the grand parents. Communication was great with the host. Place was in great condition. Caught tons of fish off the dock and some larger bass in the canoe.
Staying at this location was exactly what we were needing for a snowmobiling weekend away. Brad did a great job communicating and the property was all ready when we arrived. Very clear instructions and plenty of fun times had by all.
When my family arrived, we could tell before we even went into the cottage it was a very well maintained. There was enough yard to play the cornhole game we brought along. The fire pit area was nice, however because of the rain we didnt get to sit by it until the last night we were there. The inside of the house was exceptionally clean! Even though the weather was cold and rainy we still had enough to do with the games and puzzles provided. Some of us had fun with the ping pong table! On the one nice day we did have we were able to use the petal boat and kayaks provided! This cottage by far was one of cleanest and nicest VRBOs my family has stayed at! A great vacation place for sure!!

About the host
Hosted by Brad O'Connell
My wife Sarah and I are from Eau Claire (about an hour and a half south of the chalet) which is where we live too. We have 2 teenage kids at home, so like a lot of families, we are busy keeping up with sports, school activities, and everything in between. We identify with everyone out there who feels the need to get away every once in a while.
Why they chose this property
We love the northwoods! We chose to buy this home because we stayed at a handful of cabin rentals nearby in years past and fell in love with this area. It didn’t take long before we dreamed of owning our own cabin someday.
What makes this property unique
When you're inside the chalet, you still feel connected to the outdoors. Even though the building is brand-new, the chalet interior has that classic rustic feel. It's cozy yet at the same time, provides all the space you and your family need to spread out and enjoy yourselves. We absolutely love this chalet and our hope is that you will love it too.
