This home was lovely with a great view! The kitchen is well stocked with dishes, cooking necessities, etc. The beds were comfortable and the reclining sofas were really nice after a day of skiing. It was nice to be able to walk to the main road to catch the shuttle to Sugar Mountain.
The home was very clean and had excellent views from the living room. Location is great for a quick trip to the slopes at Sugar Mountain or a great meal in Banner Elk. We would definitely book this location again.
View was incredible. House was clean and well stocked. Bed was so good we checked the brand so we can upgrade. Outstanding experience. We intend to return.
The location was ideal for a weekend of skiing fun at Sugar! We loved the location and can't wait to return! Kitchen was well stocked and bedrooms were all comfy.

Cozy place with a great view

We really enjoyed our stay, the place was so cute and clean. We were close to the snow activities so made it easy to drive down to the slopes to ski and we were back home quickly after a long day. Vacasa was helpful and attentive and fixed a hot water problem immediately. We will definitely come back!

Beautiful Views
This condo was well kept and cozy. Loved the wood burning fireplace. There’s a spacious deck with incredible views of the mountain. East access to sugar mountain for skiing. Private master on the top floor. Very comfortable stay. Would highly recommend.
I came with my son, his wife, and my two of my grandchildren. It was a gift to my 7 year old grandson who wanted to learn how to snowboard, he did really well btw. The place was clean and the perfect distance from Sugar Mountain Resort. I don't ski so it was easy for me to drop them off and come back for a rest. We all really enjoyed the convenience and the view..
The condo was great. We had a few problems that were quickly addressed. The dishwasher did not work, but instead of having someone come out to look at it, we washed the dishes by hand. A dining room chair was missing but it was replaced with a folding card chair. The handle to the main door broke off, but it was replaced. Overall, it was a great little cozy cottage!

It was ok…
Condo needs some updates- location reported is not accurate. The condo is not 0.2 miles away from the entrance of sugar mountain ski resort. Location is up in the mountains which is ok, if you know that’s what to expect, and if you arrive during a snow storm with a 4-wheel vehicle.

The house itself are great but the cleaning was bad
In the first day, we found there are two fresh food stains on the bedsheet and one blood stain on the bed cover. I contacted the Vacasa representative right away. She put a ticket of my requirement of changing bedsheets but no local person answered that ticket. No one contacted me or came to change the bedsheets. Other than that, the house itself was great.

Overall, I loved the condo. It was a great size for 5 adults and the view was incredible. We spent most of our time out on the deck, partially because there was no AC, but mostly because of the lovely view.
I did give the cleanliness 3 stars because we found quite a few large pieces of food left on the carpet in the main dining area. Something else that I have already mentioned is the lack of AC. I completely understand that the condo doesn't need AC for a majority of the year and the place did cool down after opening all of the windows and doors each evening, but it's definitely something to be aware of.
Overall, the place was beautiful (bring your own salt and pepper), the price was reasonable, and the communication from the owners was fantastic.

This condo was so stripped down with no extra towels (not even enough for the number of heads listed to sleep there), no extra pillows or blankets in the freezing winter. The windows were drafty and the cleaning was subpar.
When I reached out to the listing team, they asked me to be patient with them - but never responded. Refund will be requested.

Amazing view but not much else
We had high expectations from this property. Unfortunately, we were let down. The view is amazing but everything else needs improvement. I have taken pictures of floor boards sticking out in the balcony (trip hazard), broken window handles, undisturbed spiderwebs over coffee mugs, used coffee filter still left in the coffee maker, dead bug in the closet, and many more issues that we spotted as we stayed at the property. After we checked in, the property manager called us to ask about everything. At that time, we had only spotted the broken window handles that prevented us from opening and closing the windows in the children’s room. When I mentioned that, they said that they knew about it and had ordered the parts. So, you are renting a property with three rooms and one of those rooms has no access to air. You know that. Still, instead of foregoing the profit for a few days’ rent and fixing up the property, you go ahead and rent it out anyway. I didn’t like that. As far as cleaning and accommodations, I think the view has been towards the bare minimum. Example: We had to buy some good toilet paper and that’s what we use during our stay. Oh and be aware that the toilet bowls are VERY small; so, Kim K cannot stay here. Sorry Kim. Overall, we enjoyed the view and the fresh air, when we could have it. Unfortunately, we would not come back to this property. My suggestion would be to take the place off the rental market for a period, fix it up, really deep clean, and get rid of all the old/smelly furniture that no one will use but bring the value of the place down (ex. that greenish chest of drawers in the downstairs queen bedroom that smells of stale urine and the cream closet upstairs with the dead bug inside). I hope that is helpful. I tried to be honest. I hope I wasn’t harsh.

Deceptive pricing, cheap amenities, and a bad washer
We don’t usually leave negative reviews because we expect some issues in vacation homes. However, I felt we needed to post this. The condo has a great view and is generally very nice; however, there were several important negatives:
1. Deceptive Pricing: We booked this condo for 8 nights based on the original quote that was posted. When we started booking, the price jumped to twice as much as the original price, and by the end, after fees and taxes, it jumped to 4x the original quoted price. Since we were desperate for a vacation, we decided to go ahead and book, but we expected a great condo after spending so much for the week. Besides the “bait and switch” pricing, the negatives were as follows:
2. Washer: The washer was full of black mold and could not be used. We called several times and the maintenance man tried to clean it, but he said it would probably need a replacement gasket because the mold was so bad. Vacasa/VRBO gave us a small rebate, but I had to spend Christmas day at the coin laundromat.
3. Amenities: The amenities were VERY cheap. The toilet paper and paper towels were terrible; we ended up buying our own. The pans and utensils were also very flimsy and hard to use (nonstick stuck, etc.) The sink stopper did not work (again, very cheap). We were supplied with one set of towels for each person (no extras) and there were not enough pillows for all the beds. We had to buy our own pillows. Also, the upstairs shower had very poor water pressure, so we all used the same shower on the lower floor.
4. Cleaning: One of the pillows in the closet had a large blood stain on it and the shower curtain had mold stains all over the bottom.
Overall, the issues seem to be with the Vacasa service – for the price, they should provide better quality amenities and assure a clean condo. I don’t think we will be booking a Vacasa home again.

After booking there are no price changes. We are also available to help guests find the perfect home within their desired budget. Our maintenance technician will review the washer and replace the ring if need be. The toilet paper and paper towels are regular, hotel grade issue, and of good quality. Each guest may have their own personal preference for such things. We checked and the sink stopper works perfectly. We wish you’d reached out about any concerns with the kitchenware. We have not noticed any issues but will review further. Housekeeping checked all pillows and found no bloodstains. The bedding is cleaned and freshened in between each reservation. No mold was found on the shower curtain. We hope to have the opportunity to host you again in the future.
