Clean and accommodating! The host was quick to respond and went out of her way to make sure our stay was perfect. We actually rented both homes on the hill and it worked out perfectly for our large group of fisherman. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you
Our granddaughter attends SIU and marches with the band. Our family of six stayed at Hilltop Retreat and it was very nice and convenient to the campus. We also went to several wineries on the Wine Trail and to the Little Grand Canyon. Very comfortable stay.
Great location, very quiet and end of road. Loved seeing the stars so bright. Close to food and in the middle of the wine trail. Three couples each had their own bedroom and the living room " Love Pit " LOL, had plenty of space to fellowship and talk about our time together on this trip. Will try to stay again if in area.
This house had. Large bedrooms, well stocked kitchen, plenty of outdoor seating, 2 rooms for entertainment and a great firepit outside. It was very nice to come home after an outing and relax by the fire pit. Convenient to wine trail and other amenities.
Ashley was always quick to respond with questions that I had! We had everything we needed and the house was ready for us! The kitchen was an open concept with the living room, which was very nice! The house situated on a dead end and it was very quiet and peaceful! Nice to set on the front porch where you could see the lake and watch the deer!
Would definitely recommend this nice home!
We came into town for our annual birding competition. We did not use much of what was available to us as we were out birding all day. Plenty of room for 5 adults. We had all the dishes, towels, and bedding we needed. Everything looked clean. No hassle check-in and the host communicated all we needed to know in a timely manner. Eastern Whip-poor-will heard outside at night which was a reat bonus for us. We might make staying here an annual thing.
House was nice and secluded location .. few things were broken .. ceiling fan in bedroom and they had a standing fan in that room that legs were broken.. drains in both bathroom sinks hardly worked at all. 2nd night (we only stayed 2 nights) the AC stopped working and only blew warm air .. let owner know .. she refunded me $50.. but felt like I should have received more .. overall we had fun just uncomfortable 2nd night and morning
All three bedrooms were very large. The kitchen was roomy and well stocked with necessities. It was very quiet outside while we were there. One small thing, the TV in the main living room didn't work properly. Dish satellite was available in the back sitting room, but we could never get it to work in main living room. Overall, great place to stay.
It was a nice house. If you plan on fishing, the lake is not actually in your yard like it appears in photos, just know that you have to walk down a steep incline into the neighbors back yard. It was ok, but not actually as it appears in the photos. The chairs around the fire pit were janky and not like the comfy chairs that are in the pictures. That bothered us because we would have brought lawn chairs had we known. Otherwise, the house is very nice and clean, and very nicely furnished and the kitchen was very well stocked with everything we needed.
Relaxing and fun weekend getaway with wife and friends. We enjoyed the many wineries in the area. The house was low key, secluded and relaxing. We plan on returning next year.
This was our 2nd time staying at the Hilltop retreat. The firepit is wonderful and the house is cozy and comfy and big. We love staying here when it's time to take our daughter back to college at SIU for the fall semester.
Perfect house for our group. We had 4 adults and 5 kids and the open floor plan and large bedrooms worked so well. We enjoyed the deck front and back and the fire pit. Very nice house for family or friends gathering.
We got a group of friends together for an adult weekend get away and this place was perfect for our get away! It was able to accommodate all of us comfortably and gave us all our own personal space!
The home was very nice and bigger than it looked in the pictures. The accommodations were excellent. Great location, close to Giant City, the Spillway, and a nice little winery. Everyone in the party had a great time and would come back any time!
We came down to bring our daughter down for her freshman year at SIU. 15 min ride to the campus. The house was perfect. We had a ball roasting marshmallows and making s’mores. We were able to fire up the grill and BBQ and made ourselves fresh breakfast in the well stocked kitchen each morning. Bring from Chicago it was a nice relaxing country getaway. We went to the farmers market nearby on our way home and picked up vegetables and the best peaches I’ve ever had in my life! Had a great time and plan to visit again !
