This is your peaceful and serene nature getaway with an off grid appeal. It is secluded and beautiful and borders the Shawnee National Forest boundary. It is right on the wine trail in southern Illinois, with plenty of orchards and famous hiking trails such as Little Grand Canyon and Pomona Natural Bridge. Hunting is legal on this 8.2 acre property, and there are plenty of places to hike on the property and into the connecting Shawnee National Forest. There are picnic areas in the woods and a spacious back deck to enjoy your morning coffee or evening glass of wine while enjoying the sunset. This place is very secluded and there is almost no traffic as it sits on a one lane farm road. The entire home has been renovated and remodeled, with a wood burning stove inside. For 2024, it is in the heart of total darkness for the eclipse! Rent this secluded place and have it all to yourself for the week! Your pets are more than welcome! The bedrooms sleep 5 people. Extra guests are welcome to bring air mattresses. The kitchen has coffee and a coffee maker, as well as ice and water. There is bathtub and a shower for guests. There is also a sheltered picnic area outside in case of rain, as well as a covered back deck. WI-FI has just been added to the home! .

Our trip was to attend my son's graduation from SIU. The cabin was in an accessible spot to Carbondale and was great for the 5 of us. We enjoyed our stay!
Owner was very communicative. House was very clean! A little off the beaten path, but worth the price. It rained the whole time, so we did not get to enjoy the outside but looked very scenic.
The property was just as advertised. Very secluded, quiet, and peaceful. My only suggestion for an improved stay is in regard to the mercury vapor light on the pole in the front of the house. It was so bright that it lit up the bedroom facing the front of the house. Had to place a towel over the blinds to dim it. That bedroom would greatly benefit from room darkening curtains.
We had a great time staying here. We sat outside on the porch for hours. When it got darker we had a fire and got the porch lights going. It was very relaxing and a beautiful stay. The only suggestion we have is to get curtains on the windows in the bedroom because the light out there is very bright and it was shining in our eyes but we hung something over the blinds. And maybe an option for blinds in the bathroom. We would definitely book again for a nice little getaway.
Amazing! Me and some friends stayed for 2 nights and had the best experience! The host messaged me to make sure we could get to the property, since it was so remote. Then, he kept in constant contact with me and was so timely with all of my questions! The house was so clean and beautiful! We didn’t have any problems with heat, air, or water temperature! For well water, the pressure was amazing and the water was so hot! I’m sure we will be coming back the next time we want to go to the Shawnee Wine Trails! 10/10 experience!
Stayed at this property to birdwatch in the Shawnee and Cache, the property was excellent. Had barred owls, yellow-throated warbler, hooded warbler, and other great birds right there at the house. The host was wonderful and answered any questions we had promptly, they were nothing but helpful. Thanks again for the great stay.
Absolutely beautiful property! We loved staying at the lodge so much and will definitely be coming back. Such a great location, beautiful views. We have nothing but great things to say about our stay. The host was very responsive and helpful. Such a great experience! Adult, kids and doggy approved of this awesome place!
If you're looking to visit Holy Boulders, this spot gets you within 5-10 minutes of either trailhead. It was clean, roomy, and has everything you need when you're not at the crag.
If you are looking for the perfect place to stay, look no further and just book now. This home has it all ! Peaceful, quiet, clean with all the amenities of home then some. Whenever I reached out to the host with questions about the area since it was our first time visiting, it was almost an immediate response. Love this place !
If you’re looking for a comfortable, relaxing place to stay, look no further! This cute home located right next to Shawnee National Forest was the perfect weekend getaway for us and our dogs. The house is back in the woods with over 8 acres to explore. And the stars at night were incredible! Everything was very clean and our host provided bottled water and had all the makings for coffee. Will definitely stay here again next time we visit!
This was a great house for us! We were able to bring our dog, she’s old, the house had only a few steps for her to get in and out. The property was flat with lots of space for her to roam. There’s lots of hiking trails near and the area is beautiful! The house isn’t fancy, but it was very homey and comfort. We really enjoyed our long weekend there!

This property is wonderful for BBQs and having family in town.
It's been remodeled, super nice! Very spacious, great for kids! We are from Colorado and we would go to a cabin to cut our Christmas tree, but we moved to Kentucky, so it was nice to keep our tradition of Christmas Tree cutting in the Shawnee National Forest. The host is very responsive to messages with questions or needs. We had an awesome time!
We enjoyed our visit! The lodge was very clean, spacious and had plenty of amenities! The kids loved exploring the property! The owner advised us of great places to eat and nearby hiking trails! We loved the area and were very satisfied with this lovely lodge!
We stayed here the night of our wedding and I just want to say that when we got into the house there was a card and a bottle of wine for us from the host. It was the sweetest gesture and we were touched. The back deck was also a great place to hang out, we enjoyed it very much. Thank you!!!
All I have to say is this was an amazing experience we have had as a family. Not only the host had EVERYTHING perfect and was absolutely a huge help with suggestions and ideas for the area but this was a perfect place to stay and not only enjoyed having time with one another but the huge lot gave us time to explore, play baseball and even our dog absolutely loved running wild! There is winery and brewery around the corner. There is enough places to hike and explorer. The home is in a perfect spot to do everything! If you’re looking to get away this is the place! We will be back next year or SOONER!!
Not only some of the best communication from the homeowner, probably one of the cleanest places I've stayed. Renovations to the home were beautiful. Quiet area. Toiletries and necessities such as coffee, cups, plates, cookware were provided. Soaps and towels. Stay here and you will know hospitality! Just 15 minutes from some incredible Shawnee sites and eateries! Very much appreciate being able to stay. Even the kids and dog loved it! :)
This place was so peaceful. Felt like a good break from the every day chaos. It is secluded and has acres of trees. It was fun to explore the property. The family made good use of the espresso, firepit, and the back deck. The nighttime ambience is relaxing. Nightsky in Pomona is pristine and free of light pollution. There was a lot of cool stuff to go see nearby. We checked out Pomona Natural bridge, Bald Knob Cross of Peace, a local orchard, Von Jakob Winery, and Giant City State Park. There are things we want to come back and check out (couple of the other wineries and the little grand canyon). The host was great! He took good care of us, communicated well, and even allowed us to meet his amazing four-legged friend. Apollo is a good boy. I'm excited about booking the next trip here!
