About this property

hot tub, ocean views and wood burning fireplace

Spacious mid-century with ocean views, wood-burning fireplace and large private deck perched above Short Beach at the edge of protected forest land. The Surfside is on a quiet street, an easy walk to Short Beach and just 5 minutes to Oceanside Village & beach, and Cape Meares State Park.

The Space: This roomy and light filled home has been selectively renovated with many of the original mid-century features preserved. Enjoy ocean views from the large deck, and peek views from the livingroom, dining room and 2 of the bedrooms, and forest views from the other rooms.

The Neighborhood:
The neighborhood has the uniquely Oregon beauty of the ocean and the forest, with birds, deer, rabbits and elk wandering through. Short Beach, known as "Agate Beach" to the locals, is one of the best kept secrets. It is accessed by a short trail of wooden steps and board walks, known as "100 steps trail". At low tide, you can walk north along the beach to experience 2 waterfalls and sandy beaches (rocky beach only at high tide) along with haystack-like rock formations.

Oceanside Village is less than 1 mile away, featuring a large sandy beach, 2 good restaurants & a coffee shop, plus post office and fire station - that's about the extents of sleepy Oceanside and why it makes a great place to recharge! Nearby Cape Meares, Cape Lookout and Cape Kiwanda state parks offer hiking and nature exploration, or try your hand at crabbing or clam digging in nearby Netarts or Tillamook Bay. For the adventurous set, there is decent surfing, or even a parasailing launch site. Or just curl and and read (or write) a book while taking in the view.

Rules and things to note:
+ No pets, no smoking
+ Limit of 2 cars per group
+ Please bring your own fire wood & kindling if you'd like to use the wood burning fireplace.
+ Temperatures at the coast rarely rise above the 70's, but on the rare warm days you'll need to manage the operable windows and doors, fans and window shades to stay comfortable, and let the cool night air in while you sleep. 60's style :)

About the host

Hosted by Wanderlust Properties NW

Host profile image
I'm a designer based in Portland Oregon, climber and distance runner. I host to travelers in my favorite places in the state - the Oregon Coast and Central Oregon.
I love to explore the pacific northwest and more distant places, sometimes with my 2 amazing kids and sometimes without.

Why they chose this property

The Surfside is my personal coastal retreat. I often stay here with family or friends, and host other travelers at times I'm away. As an aficionado of mid-century architecture, I love the feeling of being in the living room under the wood ceiling with a roaring fire in the hearth, I especially during winter storms :)

What makes this property unique

The Surfside is just 1 mile to Oceanside Village and 1 mile to Cape Meares State Park. Short Beach is a unique and rather wild beach, perfect for hunting agates!
