Well Cottage was in a perfect location 3-minute walk to the village of Bourton on the Water. It was well maintained and had everything you needed. Would stay there again.

Thank you Michelle for taking the time to write this lovely review! We are so pleased you were happy with Well Cottage and all it has to offer as well as the perfect location and that you would book with us again! We would be very happy to host and welcome you both again!
Kind regards,
Dawn and Bette
We had a lovely stay in Well Cottage. The house is beautiful, very clean, has everything you would need in kitchen and bathroom. The location is great too!
A true gem. Bourton on the Water is a bustling tourist village. Hidden on a very quiet Lane a mere 200 yards from the action lies Well Cottage. It boasts a large yet cozy living and dining area, an efficient kitchen and two spacious comfortable bedrooms. The full bath sits downstairs. The steps are somewhat steep making nocturnal visits a bit challenging but fully manageable. The shower is over a deep tub needing a bit of a climb, but again manageable. A key to this property is the off street parking. Few have it and we considered it a must. It did not disappoint. This property is a ten all the way. Highly recommended. I’m
Beautiful cottage with fire place, true to as advertised. Perfectly located for walking in the village and close to restaurants and Pubs. We would totally recommend and stay again.
Our stay at Well Cottage was like living in a fairytale! The 15th century cottage has been updated with modern conveniences while maintaining its traditional charm. The location provides quiet privacy yet is only a two minute walk to the lovely River Windrush with clear water moving over stones and water fowl of various kinds. On either side of the river are shops and restaurants that look the same as they have for centuries and the pace of life is both restful and restorative. The real joy is with the people of Bourton-on-the-Water…and, their gentle dogs. You will feel a happiness and a welcome that is genuine and special in the English countryside! Back at the cottage after you excursions you can nestle in and cook in the well-furnished kitchen, read, watch tv, work on a puzzle or play games, all generously provided by the host! She is easy to access and quick to respond with any question or need. Check-in and check-out are clearly explained and once inside the cottage you find a binder with information explaining everything you need to know about the cottage in amazing detail. Tip: Plan your stay for as long as your holiday permits because you will not be ready to leave!

Mum and I are so pleased you had a memorable holiday and positive experience both in the cottage and visiting The Cotswolds. We look forward to you coming again in the not too distant future!

A cottage full of character with a homely feel in a fantastic location. Its an easy short stroll to the village & having off street parking was great. Bourton on the Water is a quaint village & a great base for exploring the whole Cotswolds area. Our hosts Dawn & Bette were very responsive & helpful especially when we had a door key issue over a weekend and the welcome gifts are a lovely touch. We're glad we chose Well Cottage for our stay.
Absolute GEM of property!! The perfect Cotswold cottage! Immaculately clean and beautifully and thoughtfully decorated. Quite a bit bigger and even nicer than the photos show and ceilings are much higher than expected. No stooping required at all. Beautiful linens and excellently appointed/organized kitchen. So much attention to detail! We were so comfortable in this delightful cottage for our week in Bourton. Oh, and the GARDEN! It was to die for: irises at their peak followed by a profusion of peonies, lavender, thyme and forget-me- nots abound. Dawn and Bette took great care of us. What an utter treat!

Thank you for your wonderful review! Mum and I are so pleased you enjoyed your stay and it exceeded your expectations! We look forward to hosting you again!

What a lovely, cosy cottage! Hosts were easy to communicate with and place was clean and a home away from home. My partner who's 6'3" struggled with the low ceilings but we assumed that would be the case so it was fine. Kitchen had salt and pepper and plenty of pots and pans. Street parking for second car was available. Highly recommended!
Thank you for taking the time to write your review. So pleased that Well Cottage and The Cotswolds met with your very positive approval!

Dawn and Bette

About the host
Hosted by Bette Roberts
Well Cottage is owned by my Mum, Bette. Both my Mum and I run Well Cottage as a business and enjoy sharing this property with others. We love the fact that Well Cottage is an unusual and unique property which has not 'not had its heart removed giving guests a truly authentic experience of modern meeting 16th Century. Once in the cottage you will feel its charm and feel its the peace of time in this detached cottage with an original Well in the Garden and having so much history and character attached to it. It was a "gem of a find" when my Mum and Dad originally bought it back in 1994 and we will never want to sell it!
Why they chose this property
Bourton on the water has so much in itself to offer with its river and beautiful bridges, many boutique style shops, antiques, perfumery and lovely cafe's and restaurants - all within a 2 min walk. Attractions are Birdland, Motor Museum, The Model Village, Hawkstone Brewery and the wonderful Greystones Farm Nature Reserve to walk through. There are many trails around the village to enjoy leading you to other villages nearby such as The Slaughters. The following are some of the headings taken from our reviews over the years: "perfect location within Bourton on the Water", "Lovely quiet cottage", "Beautiful cottage", "Absolutely enchanting", "worth every penny", "loved this cottage, sad to leave", "Well appointed cottage, quiet and peaceful in a picturesque setting"..................and many more.
What makes this property unique
This is a unique cottage because it is one of the oldest detached cottages in the village which has managed to retain its original features and even has a well in the garden which would have been used by local farm hands when Bourton on the Water was mostly farm land.
