About this property

Charming Victorian Wool Cottage on the Cotswold Way in Winchcombe.

Charming Cotswold Stone Cottage, centrally located in Winchcombe yet only 200 metres from the gate house of the stunning Sudeley Castle and situated on the Cotswold Way. LAST MINUTE availability from 11th July for a week.

Nestled on picturesque Vineyard Street in the historic town of Winchcombe, this delightful two-bedroom Victorian wool cottage blends timeless character with all the modern comforts today's discerning traveller expects. With its honey-coloured stone, cosy interiors and enviable location, The Feathered Nest offers an idyllic base for exploring the Cotswolds.

Inside, the cottage beautifully balances its 19th‑century charm with the comforts of modern living. Stepping through the front door, you’re welcomed into a characterful sitting room with flagstone floors, a comfy sofa and armchair, and an impressive original hearth housing a log‑burning stove. An oak‑beamed ceiling enhances the warm, traditional feel, while a television and high‑speed Wi‑Fi ensure you stay connected and entertained.

Beyond the sitting room, the well‑equipped kitchen offers everything you need for a relaxed stay, including an oven, four‑ring induction hob, fridge‑freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, and a Nespresso coffee machine for that perfect morning brew.

Upstairs are two inviting bedrooms—one double and one twin—making the cottage ideal for couples, friends, or small families.
On the first floor the 'Feather and Black' King Size Bed welcomes guests with Egyptian Cotton White Company Bedlinen. A staircase leads off bedroom one to bedroom two on the second floor. This small bedroom has been cleverly laid out to fit two full size single beds, a small dresser and under bed storage is provided. Again The White Company Bedlinen and Towels are provided.

The bathroom is located on the ground floor, in keeping with the traditional layout of period cottages but includes a full size bath and separate enclosed shower cubicle as well as underfloor heating and a heated towel rail to warm your luxurious White Company Towels.

At the rear of the property is a pretty courtyard garden furnished with seating for four. New this year, we have a lovely outdoor sofa with solar string lighting to give a wonderful evening ambiance. The courtyard garden is a peaceful spot to enjoy a quiet morning coffee before setting off on your adventures, or an aperitif as you unwind after a day exploring the surrounding countryside.

Due to the age and character of the property, it is not suitable for guests requiring disability‑friendly access. There are also a number of steps within the property and please note bedroom two is accessed through bedroom one and there is no handrail between the first and second floor bedroom.

Positioned directly on the famous Cotswold Way, the cottage is a dream for walkers and nature lovers. Just a few hundred metres away stands the magnificent Sudeley Castle, final home and resting place of Queen Katherine Parr, the last wife of Henry VIII—an extraordinary piece of history right on your doorstep.

Winchcombe itself is full of charm, with independent shops, cafés, and traditional pubs to discover. From this perfectly placed cottage, you can easily explore the region’s most iconic Cotswold villages, including Broadway, Stow‑on‑the‑Wold, and Bourton‑on‑the‑Water.

The town has been awarded The Walkers are Welcome status and hosts an annual walking festival each May. The Cotswold Way, Gloucestershire Way and Wychavon Way all pass through Winchcombe. Nearby, Belas Knap is a Neolithic barrow in a spectacular location above Humblebee Woods. There is also an unspoilt Roman Villa to discover at Spoonley Wood.

With so many beautiful Cotswold villages on the doorstep also, you will find it hard to leave. Whether you’re seeking scenic rambles, rich heritage, or simply a cosy retreat in an enchanting setting, this Vineyard Street cottage offers a memorable stay in the heart of Gloucestershire.

Parking? No problem. Vineyard Street has unrestricted parking along both sides so you will have no problem finding a space close to the cottage, usually right outside.

Paul and I had been looking for an investment purchase for a couple of years following the success of our holiday cottage The Vine. Property: 8147381 This is our second holiday cottage in Winchcombe and we have been delighted with how popular the cottage has proved to be. Whether for tourists visiting The Cotswolds for the first time or regular visitors who join one of the many walking groups we are looking forward to providing a comfortable bolt hole for guests throughout 2025 and beyond.
Guests have been delighted with the high level of comfort they receive, how surprisingly light and airy the property is and in particular they comment on the pretty walled garden and the high quality fixtures and fittings we have sourced to give that 'boutique hotel' feel to the property.
Please email us or request to book for further information.
Why Winchcombe? Winchcombe has been our home now for eighteen years and we love living here. Winchcombe has a true village feel with a real heart and soul. While on the doorstep of Cheltenham and many of the popular Cotswold villages, you won't have the huge number of coaches and day visitors found in some other locations. During the Spring of 2021 Winchcombe hit the national headlines in regards to the Meteorite landing just a few doors away here in Winchcombe.

Why they chose this property

Vineyard Street is the most photographed street in Winchombe and even features on the We LOVE England website. It is a beautiful row of 18th Century cottages and when number 6 came to the market in 2015 we couldn't wait to invest in it. The property has been meticulously restored and renovated to live up the expectations of 21st Century guests.

What makes this property unique

At The Feathered Nest you are on the doorstep of some of the most beautiful Cotswold villages such as Bourton-on-the-Water, Broadway, Stratford-upon-Avon and Chipping Camden. The magnificent Sudeley Castle Estate is a short walk away. Within 500yards you are at the gates to the castle and a beautiful driveway leads to the castle itself.
The property benefits from a pretty walled garden from where you can enjoy a glass of pimms on your own private sunny terrace while listening to the church bells a short distance away.
The kitchen dining area works well and is lovely and light with four new velux ceiling lights.
The front room is warm and cosy with its large hearth and log burning stove. Logs are provided from November to April. A new flat screen television with free sat channels is provided and free wifi is provided throughout the property.
Upstairs the high standard of comfort continues with a John Lewis king size bed and White Company Bed Linen and fluffy towels to add to that hotel feel. A small wardrobe, recessed storage and deep pile carpet is welcome underfoot. On the second floor two full size single beds with under bed storage and a small dressing table unit provide a cosy room for two. The top floor window opens to views over the town and church. To the rear of the property is a beautiful raised terrace, perfect for an evening sundowner while listening to the birds sing or the church bells peel. To the front of the property there is unrestricted parking for a car, meaning you can leave your car all week if you choose while you enjoy walking the Winchcombe Way.
