Catskills Ski Cabin near Belleayre and Hunter Mountains
Ever travel without getting a sense of place? At our cabin, nestled on a hushed road in a stunning valley, the stream, forest, and mountains assert themselves. Every room embraces wildlife and echoes the sound of the stream tumbling over boulders. Nature resets your internal clock to downtime. A spacious kitchen, sweeping great room, and wildflower-bordered patio encourage conversation. 2 levels, 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, 2 living rooms invite contemplation. Doze, fish, shop, hike..repeat.
Welcome to our little corner of heaven. We love to know people are filling up the rooms, spilling out onto the deck and patio, and splashing in the boulder-strewn, rainwater-fed stream.
We use this house every chance we get, so it has a more lived-in feel than some rentals. Expect to see family photos. Feel free to watch our dvds, read our books, and use (within reason) our condiments. Check the top shelf of the fridge and the freezer - we always try to leave you some of the yummy products that our company produces, as well as coffee, tea and hot chocolate. The upside of an owner-loved house is that the kitchen is stocked with all the usual equipment, and more. (You can go several meals without washing up, if that's what vacation means to you!) You can usually count on having paper towel, trash bag, dish cleaning stuff, firewood, and other household items handy (we don't always get to shop in between guests, so come prepared just in case). Always: shampoos, lotions, liquid soaps, toilet paper. There's an active compost, which may reduce the amount of waste you cart home. Due to aggressive - and destructive wildlife, we cannot dispose of trash for you. It must be taken with you. There's a waste station 20 minutes away. We don’t recommend dropping trash in dumpsters, since the local gas stations etc. are very hip to the weekend community’s Sunday night shenanigans !
Driveway fits two cars, street parking accommodates 3 more. Please don't park on the lawn, the weight of a car can break the septic tank underneath.
There are two full bathrooms. One has a tub with European style shower attachment. The other has a stand-up shower.
Note that there are beds (some are convertibles) for 10. If you don't want to get cozy, or your bedmate snores, you can spread out on the couches. Linens, including fluffy duvets, are provided for the two queen beds and two singles. Towels provided for 6 guests. There are plenty of extra pillows and blankets available for your use.
Wifi info is included, and if you want to hook into the stereo, there is a cable to plug your device into. The grill is a two-tier affair, with grates to hold the charcoal, and to place the food. Grill baskets are provided for loose items.
Our prices include all fees. No hidden fees.

About the host
Hosted by Amy Farges
We grew our family here, from learning to climb stairs to springing fish from their sparkling streams. We are happy to be a part of a wonderful, tight knit community in our little Town of Shandaken.
Why they chose this property
It is on a stream. The stream makes the magic. The few yards between the cabin and stream are left in their wild state. The street is very quiet (in summer it gets busier), winding, with homes scattered along the forest edge.
What makes this property unique
Skinny dipping! Loud guitar playing! Amazing star canopy!
