A great property and a great location for us four over-70 siblings and our families for a long-delayed reunion. Centrally-located in the Hills, we woke each day and cooked breakfast for a large crew in the well-appointed kitchen, then did our tourist things the rest of the day. Also, a great property to come home to after driving around the Black Hills, to rest and recap our daily events. Highly recommended. Host manager Chuck was excellent as well - friendly and with good advice for local shopping/dining/etc.
An exceptionally clean and spacious home! The host was very kind and checked in with us to make sure everything was going well. The home had everything we needed from kitchenware to entertainment, would definitely recommend staying here!
Home was perfect for our family vacation. It was close enough to the monuments, trails and caves we wanted to visit, but also located in a beautiful and quiet subdivision so we could just be a family. The basement area was awesome with the game area. Hot tub was clean and warm and used every night! It was colder than we anticipated so we only used sidee by side for a short ride but it ran great. Chuck was great and checked in a couple of times to make sure everything was working and if we had any questions. We definitely will be back!
We had 3 generations for a long Easter weekend. The weather was a little too chilly to make use of the outdoor equipment & deck area, which was disappointing, but the hot tub was a big hit! The temperature was perfect and really held the heat. The house was the perfect place for our group -- very, clean, great kitchen for making meals, lots of activities provided, and lots of space so that everyone could spread out.Our hosts were very welcoming and checked in with us to see that everything was okay. Our hope is that we'll be staying here again!
Very relaxing and peaceful stay. Our favorite was the hot tub with the nice view. Kitchen had all the utensils needed for meals. Relaxing by the fireplace was nice. Our family enjoyed a bonfire outside, all the stars was incredible. Would absolutely stay again.
The house was great for our Black Hills vacation! After long days of sight seeing, the house provided just what we needed to relax, spend time with family, enjoy the game area & hot tub, get a great nights rest, and prepare for the next day. Chuck was a great host!
This property was the nicest VRBO I have ever stayed at. It was just as pictured. Very nicely setup and furnished with everything you could need. Beautiful view and very clean.
Perfect location for exploring all the areas around Custer State Park. The house is located in a very nice area with the bike trail right there. Would definitely stay here again.
The home was perfect for our stay! It was very clean and lined up with everything we had hoped for! The host Chuck was very friendly and answered any questions that came up! We would definitely stay here again and hope to when we come back next year!
Property is very nice...big families would find this property ideal. Favorite things...huge Kitchen and beautiful deck where I grilled and great view. Trails and downtown are close. Chuck is a great host who gave us great trail ideas and knows the BlackHills, we will come back.
The house is beautiful and has a perfect location for sightseeing in South Dakota. It’s the perfect house for a large family or two couples with children. Nice amenities and there is a great walking trail in the neighborhood. My family was in Hill City for a wedding and it was very close to the wedding venue.
Great stay! Property was beautiful and located conveniently in the heart of the Black Hills. We saw deer and elk each day, The hot tub, side by side, pool table were enjoyed by all! Thank you for a great experience.
We had a relaxing five days with our family staying in this home. It is close enough that our adult children could walk into Hill City every day to the coffee shop and our grandchildren loved just spending time at the house hanging out and watching for deer. Chuck is the perfect host, so much so that this was the third time we have booked his homes, and we have already booked for next year!
We are lifelong residents of Rapid City, SD and the Black Hill area. We know the area well and we absolutely love it! We have frequented the local wineries, hiked the trails, fished the streams/lakes and visited the many local attractions all around the Black Hills.
Why they chose this property
This home was built for us to share the beauty of the Black Hills with visitors to the area. The location is one of a kind! To the North the home is surrounded by National Forest Service Land so the view will always be protected and preserved. What makes this property unique
The home has a creek side view from the upper level and the valley below has a small creek winding though it. The deer are ever present and entertaining. I have personally grabbed a rod and landed a trout within minutes in Major Lake which you can see from the patio. The Mickelson Trail lies just beyond the creek which is easily accessible to bikers, joggers or someone looking for a nice easy stroll. The trail is 109 miles long and goes through Mt. Rushmore, Deadwood and much more! This home has all of the views and serenity of the Black Hills in its backyard. Despite it's close vicinity to Hill City you are out of site and have the feeling of being in the heart of the hills.
