About this property

Spectacular waterfront villa/private beach GREAT SNORKELING, sunrise/sunset view

PEBBLE BEACH is a spacious 3 bedroom, 3 1/2 bath, stone and masonry home located in a spectacular, natural setting with 370 feet of waterfront on East End overlooking the waters of Coral Bay. Stunning wraparound views of distant mountains and turquoise seas greet you as you enter the house. Pathways and terraces surround the house and wind through colorful flowering plants, wild orchids, and tropical landscaping.

A stairway leads from the house to your own snorkeling beach. A second pocket pebble beach is accessible by swimming, a secret private hideaway perfect for honeymooners or lovers. Both beaches consist of pebbles over sand. Excellent snorkeling, swimming sunbathing in protected and calm waters. Follow turtles or schools of blue tang between the sea fans and over coral heads.

Elk and brain coral, colorful queen angelfish, parrotfish, puffers, sergeant majors, and schools of other tropical fish provide a natural aquarium around the house. Another beach and more excellent snorkeling are a 5-minute walk away at Haulover Bay.

Large screened sliding glass doors provide stunning 270-degree views of sparkling bays and green mountains and allow the constant tradewinds to keep the house cool. The house is fully air-conditioned, including the three bedrooms.

Relax in the living room, on the deck, or in the hammock and watch the pelicans dive, the fish jump, or the turtles surface in the brilliantly clear, 80 degree waters below you. Watch the wind play on the water, yachts sail by, and spectacular sunsets as you relax on the deck after a full day of snorkeling or exploring. The kitchen is a cook's dream with a pantry and water views on three sides and a full pantry.

The spacious master bedroom with a king and a daybed opens to its own deck for sunrise viewing and water views. Stairs off the deck lead to down the Kitchen/LR level, the lower BR and the beach. A spacious tiled 2 sink bathroom with shower joins the master bedroom.

The second master bedroom with a king has a private entrance, a private deck with sunset and water views overlooking Haulover Bay the National Park land, and water. It has a large 2 sink bathroom with an enclosed garden shower.

The third bedroom and fresh air bath with a shower is down one flight of stairs from the main floor, with a large deck/sitting area, also with water views. The bed can be prepared as two twins or a king. All three bedrooms afford excellent visual and sound privacy from the others. Enjoy your dream vacation at Pebble Cove and you'll return again and again. This is the place for people who love nature, beauty, and snorkeling.

You can rent kayaks locally and keep them on the beach, making it easy to explore the protected surrounding waters.

With great swimming in the year-round calm waters of the bay, you have a spectacular nature-made pool just steps away!

A Stunning and Quiet Location on the East End!!
The photos in this listing really do not do this place justice! If you’ve ever been to Saint John, this location is even more beautiful and secluded than the beaches and parts of the island near Cruz Bay. While the roads are a bit windy to get there from the ferry, it’s worth it to have an entire house and private beach all to yourself! Our deck overlooking the ocean was the perfect spot for morning coffee and evening sunsets. We snorkeled every day in Haulover Bay and around our private beach and it was some of the best sea life on the entire island! A very unique house that is worth the stay! Not to mention Linda’s communication was outstanding throughout the entire process. We will definitely be back. 10/10!

Great house - perfect location
This was our 2nd time staying at Pebble Cove. Communication was great with Linda before and during our stay. Our family loves the quiet East End location and we spent most of our time at the house, the beaches down the road, and Coral Bay for dining and groceries. The best snorkeling is right in front and along the reef - we enjoyed the convenience and diversity of sea life. Hope to visit again!

Amazing snorkling location
Our family of 5 (40, 40, 6, 11, 81) had a great time. The villa looks even better than pictures. The rooms have separate entrances which required some getting used to, but we settled fine. Mom (81) managed stairs down to the beach very well (good rails!). We saw almost all types fish listed in the guide kindly provided by the host, as well as octopus, squid and turtles! Later in the evening I saw small reef sharks and a huge nurse shark which was so majestic! We went to a few other beaches but the reef in front of this house was the best by far. You could also swim really far along the shore both ways to a neighboring reef. Kids also enjoyed watching various wild life outside: iguanas, gekkos, frogs, hermit crabs. The views from the balconies were stunning. Would love to return.

Breathtaking
We have been coming to St. John for over 30 years and our stay at Pebble Cove was by far the most relaxing and the location...absolutely breathtaking...just the best! Almost 180 degree view of the ocean was like nothing we've ever seen, and never failed to awe no matter how many times we entered that space. Enjoyed our week kayaking and snorkeling right from the beach and hiked the Brown Bay trail. Hosts were amazing and the villa was absolutely spotless.

Gorgeous and peaceful
Our visit to Pebble Cove checked all our boxes and then some! Remote and private, yet just a 10 min drive to Coral Bay. The house was clean, and had everything we needed. We loved that it is eco friendly with water conservation/ repurposing system. Linda was easy to communicate with and we knew we could call her anytime. She gave us several great recommendations to help us enjoy our visit. The snorkeling from the beach was fabulous. If you are looking for a retreat with full amenities, yet fully immersed in nature and beauty, this is it.

Peace and Quiet with an Awesome View
We, 2 adults, 2 kids (11, 12) stayed the week before Christmas. The house met our needs completely. The rooms are spacious and the beds are comfortable. The kitchen has lots of room and plenty of cook/prep space. The view of Round Bay, Turner's Point and Ram's Head were amazing. The East End of the Island is quiet and you can hear the crashing waves below. Pebble Cove below the house is a pebbly beach with awesome coral and fish, great for snorkeling. Very few sailboats and yachts anchored in the bay and very few people reside in the area, making it a relaxing peaceful area. You are within walking distance of both Haulover Beaches and Hansen Beach. Salty Mongoose has awesome crispy pizza. Homemade To Go makes decadent ice cream and really good Key Lime Pie. In Coral Bay, Dolphin Market and Love City Market have most of your food needs. However Starfish Market and Dolphin Market in Cruz Bay seems to have better produce and meat. For adventure, Flyaway Charters based in Coral Bay and Sail Tipitina in Cruz Bay were hard to beat fun. Trunk Bay was great and calm in the mornings, by noon it starts getting busy. Little Cinnamon Bay is a good alternative. The hikes are enjoyable and give a good workout. Snorkeling is everywhere! Definitely will come back!!

Stunning House, Stunning Location
Walking into the house, through the living room onto the deck overlooking your own pebble beach below, Coral Bay in front, and the mountains beyond took our breath away. Perched about 70 feet above the turquoise waters on the east end of the island (driving takes 30-40 minutes from Cruz Bay) the location couldn’t be better. The house has character, some mid century touches and is well maintained. Lots of room to spread out with 3 bedrooms, each with their own bathroom, and several decks. It was just the two of us but this is a great layout for a larger group since each party can retreat to their own section of the house. The grounds are beautifully landscaped and the pebble beach below is accessed via approximately 75 wooden stairs. The snorkeling is very nice right in front of the house with a nice variety of fish and coral and turtles. We went in September so the air conditioning was definitely appreciated. We rented a jeep from Courtesy Car Rental in Cruz bay, they were very nice. There are several well stocked grocery stores 5-10 minutes from the house in the village. Unfortunately, our visit was cut short by Hurricane Irma but we look forward to returning to this special place on this special island.

Get away from it all on St John
My family of 5 stayed for a week at Pebble Cove in July. We found everything to be as advertised and so much more. The home was very clean and well stocked with everything we needed for cooking and we cooked often at the villa. We enjoyed the hot tub in the mornings and snorkeling in the afternoons right next to the pebble beach. The beach was good for finding shells, too. Also, if you like tropical flora, the property has many different kinds of flowers and interesting plants. The owners were very responsive to questions and oriented us to the home and the surrounding area. The drive to the East End of the island can best be described as a roller coaster so we rented a Jeep to get us around but we mostly stayed in the Coral Bay area. We saw donkeys along the way all the time. The kids loved that! The rooms/beds were all very comfortable. All but the master bedroom have external entrances only, which was a bit of an adjustment with the kids but we figured it out. For those who like Virgin Island history, we found many local area writers and books available to read in the villa, including guidebooks to the area, which definitely enriched our trip and our knowledge. The views every morning from the deck can not be described in words or photos. You will just have to see it for yourself. We highly recommend this villa.

Perfect waterfront house overlooking beautiful snorkeling bay
Well maintained comfortable cottage perched on the edge of the bay about 30-40' above the coral filled bay below. Perfect location for privacy lovers and water lovers. So beautiful to sit on the terrace looking down into the crystal clear water, or lounging down below on the chaises on private pebble beach. Lots of restaurants with live music nightly in the nearby community of Coral Bay. There is no pool, but there is a hot tub, and we did not miss a pool since the ocean is so inviting below. Highly recommended, owners are a very attractive couple who gave us fantastic info about what we were interested in, for us that was restaurants and snorkeling spots.

Rejuvenation close to nature with the comforts of home. It doesn’t get any better than this!
This year we stayed at Pebble Cove and were so happy to discover this incredible location! The house provided the ideal home for the four of us: spacious, comfortable, great views, amazing sunsets and the sense of living so close to the rhythms of nature. It was easy to forget what day or time it was. All I needed to know was: time for a swim, time to eat or maybe time for a soak in the hot tub. I loved sitting on the deck under the gazebo and looking across the bright blues of Haulover Bay to the land that is all National Park, knowing that it will remain virgin, unspoiled forest. We were able to buy fresh fish from the fisherman in Coral Bay. We also found local honey, papaya, mangos, star fruit and plantains at a small fruit stand in Coral Bay. We also bought fresh greens from Josephine, whose garden center is just down the road from the Love City Market. It was great to see her gardens, a flat area nestled between the hills. This is my fourth trip to St. John and the first time I have seen where she grows her produce. The arugula and mixed greens are great! We walked half mile down the road from Pebble Cove to Vie’s for some West Indian food and then rented her kayak to explore Coral Bay waters. It was fun to get out further and snorkel new areas of the vast bay that East End surrounds. I do wish I had taken my hat! Since we have explored St. John before on our other trips, we didn’t feel compelled to do it all again and mostly stayed on East End and at Pebble Cove. Everything we needed was right there...the lounge chairs on the beach, a hammock, good food, our favorite music, good company, great sunsets, even a few rain showers at night to cool things off. We did eat out at Aqua Bistro in Coral Bay a few times (good!) and had lunch at Sundog when we went to Cruz Bay, but otherwise we were quite content at Pebble Cove. I am carrying home memories of blissfully rocking in that hammock in the shade, listening to the lapping of the water on the shore. We will be back! Thanks, Linda and Allen, for sharing your special place with us.

We love Pebble Cove and East End! Didn’t know a beachfront location like this existed on St. John
We had no idea how superb this East End location would be even though we poured over the photos before we booked. The house sits right above the water with wraparound views from Haulover Bay to Hanson Bay. When we walked in the house and saw the view it took our breath away! Much more dramatic than we expected. The photos just can’t capture the feeling. We enjoyed all of our meals on the deck overlooking the water. The roof over the outdoor dining area gave us shade which was very welcome, as we certainly got plenty of sun the rest of the day. From the table we watched the movement of the wind on the water, the fish jump and even a pelican fly by below the deck level. Cool! We loved snorkeling from the beach just below the house. I saw the usual corals and fish plus turtles, rays, and my first octopus! The water was warm enough that we could snorkel for hours and that is just what we did. This year I wore a rash guard and tights as sun protection....I was engrossed in snorkeling for so long I would have been burned to a crisp. It was great to collapse into the hammock in the shade after a long swim and just watch the play of the leaves against the sky and hear the waves quietly lapping the shore. In the past we always vacationed just the two of us. But this time we invited good friends, not sure how it would work out. But the house has two master bedrooms and they are separate enough that each couple had plenty of sound and visual privacy. We used the AC a few times, but mostly it wasn’t necessary with the trade wind breezes. We each had own own deck off the bedroom, great for stargazing before bed. No loom from a city....amazing night sky! If we brought another couple there is a third bedroom on another level (also very private) that has a cool outdoor shower and lounging area. That bedroom is smaller but still has room for the king size bed, a dresser and night tables. We are already thinking about who to invite for the next trip now that we know the house is so spacious. We had our privacy and time with good friends! Thanks Linda and Allen, for letting us use your house and build such awesome memories. We appreciated your helpful pointers at check in and responding so quickly when we had questions. Hope to be back soon again!

If you're coming to St. John, Pebble Cove is the place to stay - such an incredible home!
As is likely true with others on their first trip to St. John, we found Pebble Cove online and decided it looked like a nice place to stay. We found Pebble Cove to be one of those truly special places; comfortable, incredible view, great amenities, private beach (the best on the island for snorkeling!). This was a trip of a lifetime... Some of our favorite things about Pebble Cove were: 1. Sitting on the deck in the evenings listening to the water, admiring the twinkling lights across the way and reminiscing about our day. Karen was particularly fond of the pearly eyed thrasher who chatted with us in the evenings! 2. Snorkeling off the private beach down below. We found amazing coral and fish. Our favorite sightings were the Nurse Shark, Stink Rays, and Hawksbill Turtles. Though we did snorkel at other places, including Maho Bay which had turtles and stingrays, the very best snorkeling was from the private beach at Pebble Cove! Our very last snorkel, a young turtle found us in the crystal clear, deep water of your bay. He came to see us and then swam and played as we watched. Wow! 3. Sloop Jones down the street. We ended up buying some one-of-a-kind clothing to remind of us of our great trip. 4. Vie's conch fritters, garlic chicken and Johnny Cakes down the road were a big hit. Loved the food and the young lady (Vie's daughter) who helped us. The Johnny Cakes were phenomenal! 5. It was great to have the ice box and chairs and towels for outings to other beaches. Linda and Allen thought of everything! 6. The bananaquits were wonderful. We also enjoyed seeing an American Kestrel fledge. Not sure exactly where their nest was located, but the fledgling was nestled in a crook of the roof line of the upper story of the house. Beautiful birds all! 7. Having the outdoor shower downstairs was perfect for rinsing after snorkeling. Hanging suits and clothes to dry on this lower deck worked great as well. 8. That shower in the second master was amazing. What a great place to get clean and enjoy the views at the same time. 9. The outdoor grill was a big hit. We grilled chicken one night and rib-eye steaks on another and they were perfect and tasty. 10. Having Internet access was a real plus. It is the only technology we used in the home - no need for the television with the incredible beauty with which we were surrounded. Thank you so much, Linda and Allen, for sharing your beautiful home; giving us the chance to enjoy a perfect stay. We ha

Peaceful, Great time for All...
This is our second stay at Pebble Cove. We truly love the house and the location. One of the BEST places on the Island,- A location that you can chill, swim, or hang out in the hammock, on your own little beach area. The landscape, the beach, the peaceful scene, lovely house. The owners are great to work with . Thanks to them, and their lovely home. (hope to return in August.2013) - Linda and Denny Reisinger

Stay at Pebble Cove 12/18/2011 -- 12/23/2011
I am writing in response to the reviewer who wrote: "Pebble Cover is a Disaster" (visit start: 12/23/2010) because my stays at Pebble Cove have been totally opposite – completely relaxing and enjoyable – and while not bug free, certainly nothing out of the ordinary for the islands. I was staying in Pebble Cove up until the day this reviewer arrived (12/23) – and I certainly did not find the mosquito or insect levels to be any different/worse than any of the other villas my friends and I have rented on St. John for the past 13 years. In fact, we have had far less biting insect problems at Pebble Cove than other villas we have rented – and that fact, plus its gorgeous view, and private beach for sunning and snorkeling – are some of the reasons why we have rented Pebble Cover twice a year for the past three years. Also, I believe the Guest Book that Linda and Allen provide at Pebble Cove recommend that you keep the screens closed in the early morning and evening when the mosquitoes are the worst – then you can keep the screens open the rest of the day – which we do to fully enjoy the trade winds. In addition, Linda and Allen provide numerous, money-saving amenities that other villas do not, including a well-equipped kitchen, new washer/dryer (with detergent!), and the house is fully stocked with essentials that are very expensive to buy on the island such as paper towels, toilet paper, bath soap, dishwashing detergent, plus several coolers and beach chairs that are not rusting and/or falling apart. We have rented other villas from Linda and Allen over the years, as well as from several other rental companies that definitely do not provide their personal touch to ensure a truly memorable experience – especially during the Christmas holiday period. I do not know what the "Disaster" reviewer was imagining their St. John vacation to be, but from my perspective, they had one of the best villas to stay in, and if they chose not to use the insect repellent and bug spray so thoughtfully provided in the villa, then, in my opinion that was their mistake, and ultimately led to their "disastrous" stay at Pebble Cove. A vacation in the Caribbean is an adventure, and St. John is the best of the best, and Pebble Cove is my villa choice. However, you have to remember that you are on a tropical island and the sun is hotter and bugs are part of the experience. By the way, everything you see on the website, including photos, is completely accurate -- no surprises.

After sailing yachts for years we chose to settle on St. John to raise a family. We were looking for a home that would keep us close to the sea and the joys of the underwater world. Pebble Cove seemed to fit the bill perfectly. It is as close to living on a boat as we could find while living on land. We have enjoyed Pebble Cove as our special place for many years and enjoy sharing the house with our many repeat guests who return year after year.

Why they chose this property

We found Pebble Cove for sale as we drove in the beautiful community of East End and it looked like a small property from the road. We were blown away when we walked through the front door into foyer of native stone and a panorama of ocean views and mountains through the archway. In our wildest dreams we had never imagined owning such a piece of paradise but we knew immediately that we must work out a way. And we did! We later got married under that same archway.

What makes this property unique

In our way of thinking a pebble beach is preferable to a sand beach because, as snorkelers and divers, we look for the teeming colorful tropical sea life that is found on and near coral reefs. Sand beaches in contrast have less visible life as the sand continually moves and keeps the coral from growing. At Pebble Cove we found the endless aquarium that we love and in a protective bay that allows comfortable swimming all year round, unlike the North Shore where winter swells stir up the water and surf. We also love the proximity to nature and the sea that this East End home offers, where we can fall asleep to the sound of the water lapping on the shore of our own beach. Our many repeat guests share these same joys and fill our guest books with stories of beautiful days enjoying the water and house.
