Total Bummer
We would like to share our dissatisfaction with the property we stayed on over the past weekend. I
booked this home for a birthday celebration as a romantic getaway for the weekend.
Upon arrival, I went in to use the restroom. When I flushed the toilet, it began to overflow
and it was disgusting and unsanitary situation. We contacted the owners and they asked if we had
plunged it…not the way we would like to start are visit. We declined to handle and asked that someone
come to clean up the mess. They came in a timely manner and unclogged the toilet and removed all
contaminated towels. We were still concerned with how cleanliness of the bathroom, so we decided to
avoid that restroom. Apologies for the details, but that is what happened.
There were many other issues with the home:
There was a dingy smell like someone previously smoked in the home and the smell is
permanently in the walls.
There was no hot water when we arrived. We reached out to the owners and a few hours later
they let us know that the breaker may have been flipped. We did eventually have hot water.
The hot tub was not hot when we arrived, which was fine, but it took a long time to heat up. In
turn, we had to “plan” around using it. Also, there was a message on the hot tub screen letting
us know that the water changing was past due by 128 days. We did get in, but when we did, there were only 2 jets working in the entire tub.
The biggest kicker was that we were lead to believe by the listing that the home was on a lake.
When we arrived, it was clear we were on a small pond with green algae, which we would not
get in.
We made the most of the time away and laughed about the situation. But it was truly
unsatisfactory, and we would like to be refunded for the trip. Also, these home should not be rented or
have more of a disclosure on the listing. The listing also says “newly renovated” which is inaccurate.
