About this property

The Glasshouse at Taiharuru

Designed for a couple only, the Glasshouse offers that peace and tranquility we all need from time to time. Lot’s of “wow” factor here with this very special location. Set among ancient Pohutukawa trees at the end of a peninsula, this is as close as one can get to being on an island, while still on the mainland. Imagine yourself in the hammock, the Pacific Ocean at your feet as Gannets patrol the headland, and the muffled sound of breaking waves filters up through the trees. Fish, swim or dive - its all accessible from the Glasshouse.
We can provide a private Chef decadent dinner at the Glasshouse. Please enquire when booking.

Your hosts – Introducing Paul and Susanne
Kia Ora. Welcome to this beautiful corner of the world.

In a previous life, Paul and Susanne spent 11 years working in the private yacht industry. They travelled the world and catered to all the requirements of the yacht owners and guests. These travels took them to many far-flung corners of the globe, but the lifestyle and beauty of NZ eventually had them heading for land. First of all came the next phase of making a home and raising a family. Although Paul is a New Zealander, Susanne is from Denmark in addition adding a touch of Scandinavian influence.

The providing of stylish accommodation was a natural progression from working in the super yacht industry, hence, Ara Roa began with Te Huia and grew from there. For 17 years now they have shared this amazing piece of NZ with visitors from all over the world, many who return again and again.

Paul and Susanne invite you to come and see for yourself.
