Peaceful and private 'Birdhouse' country retreat nestled amongst the trees and garden, where you can listen out for the beautiful birdsong of our native Tūī, the cheeping of Fantails/Pīwakawaka as they flitter in the branches, the swooping sounds of the Kererū and the soft chanting of the Morepork/Ruru at night. Modern rustic tiny home, vacant now our daughter has left the nest - right in the heart of wine country and near wedding venues in and around Kumeū. Ready for your romantic weekend away, a base for attending a local wedding, retreat for visiting family or catching up with friends.
Close to Kumeu Showgrounds, Kumeu Village shops, Kumeu Market, great restaurants, local wineries, the beautiful black sand beach of Muriwai, strawberry picking, Parakai Hot Pools, forest walks and trails, local breweries and cafés.
Nearby Wedding venues include Markovina Vineyard Estate, Soljan's Winery, Kumeu River Winery, Kumeu Valley Estate, Whispering Waters, The Riverhead Tavern, Bridgewater Estate, The Barn Waimauku, The Hunting Lodge, Settlers Country Manor, Abel Estate, Allely Estate, Hallertau Brewery and Lone Pine Estate.
Our family home is across the driveway from the tiny home, yet still peaceful and private. We love our animals, with a very friendly pet dog Monty, pet goats and horses...and of course the birds in the trees! Please note driveway gate must be kept closed at all times to keep Monty safe!

We were having a driving holiday and this spot was quiet, spotless, well appointed and the hosts are lovely. It's not in town but the quiet semi rural location was perfect to retreat to after a day out visiting wineries, or Bethells and Piha.
What a beautiful little cabin in the country. But just 3 mins drive to town. Friendly hosts, and the cabin has everything we could have needed, I was very impressed. We hope to come back again.

Immaculately clean, modern cute cottage in rural setting but close to town. Little extras that made me feel welcome were: bathrobe supplied, multiple towels, variety of: bathroom supplies, cookies, chocolates, teas, coffees and comfy cushions on outside deck chairs positioned to catch morning sun. Owners were very welcoming.
Hi just fab, accomodation awesome. Blankets just right. Unfortunately for us the bed was terribly soft and uncomfortable, very squishy. We both have bad backs so no support for us. We didn’t sleep well as a result but loved everything else about it. Would definitely recommend it.

Thank you for your complimentary review and recommendation to other future guests. The bed is brand new and has not been an issue for any previous guests, however we are sorry it was too soft for you both.
