The Comfort Schoolhouse, Est 1872

The Comfort Schoolhouse is a unique and special place. Built in Raisin Charter Township near Tecumseh Michigan on land donated by the Comfort Family in 1872, it served as District 10 School until 1938. Henry Ford and his wife Clara made frequent visits to Comfort School on their way to stops at mills on the River Raisin and other points owned by Ford, and was considered one of the Ford Schools as part of the Edison Institute. The schoolhouse is now converted to a residence, with a private bedroom up and second bed in the finished basement, The property is surrounded by 750 acres of Nature Conservancy Land, and a horse pasture on the south side. Historic downtown Tecumseh, a kayak livery & Kapnick Orchards are all within 2 minutes. Hobby pilots: Merillat Airport(34G) is a well maintained grass strip within walking distance.

Highly recommend this fantastic property! It was clean and cozy, the tin tile ceiling and the original details of the schoolhouse made it so interesting! The host communicated well with us and checking in and out was easy. We would definitely stay here again

The property was very cute and comfy. The home really felt like a home. And the surrounding landscape was beautiful...and very green. We will highly rate this and encourage a party of 4 or less to stay here. We loved reading about the history of this former "one room schoolhouse".

The Comfort School House is a great place to disconnect from the city life, and reconnect with the important things in life. Great piece of history. The owner was quick to respond and communicate on a personal level on things to do in town. Looking forward to a visit again in the future.
