Really enjoyable getaway

My spouse and I really enjoyed our week-long September getaway to Steve and Darlene's cottage on Kennaway Lake. The cottage itself is nicely done without being overdone, with a very nice screened-in area, deck looking out to the lake, dock and two firepits. The lake was quiet and the sunsets beautiful. We spent some days hiking in Algonquin Park and Haliburton Highlands, other days relaxing at the cottage. We hope to return next year!

Great retreat to the nature in a comfortable home

We enjoyed our stay again in this beautiful place in a nice comfortable cottage on a small clean lake. Big Thank You to the hosts, everything was organized very well and provided to us, even more than we expected! The only thing to remember that you won’t have cell reception nor internet at the cottage, so plan your activities accordingly (was not a problem for us). Also, probably will not work for families with small children due relatively steep stairs from the cottage to the lake and deep water right at the dock.

Lovely owners with smooth checkin but real limits to inside and outside appeal

Owners were lovely; cottage was tiny and cluttered - biggest concerns were that due to north facing property and very big tree density including right over the cottage itself, there was no sunlight until mid afternoon and evening….very dark and many bugs otherwise on deck and 60 steps down to lake. Main bed was tiny and very uncomfortable; one of us slept in a narrow twin and the other on an older futon couch as a result. Dock was lovely with muskoka chairs and canoe, kayak and paddle board available. Please note that there is no beach; water is about 10 plus feet off the dock. Fair distance from cell and internet service as well. We actually left after four days. If there was more natural light getting through and more comfortable bed we would have stayed. We wish the owners the best; we felt it was only fair to people who are interested in booking in the future to have our comments In hand.

Great quiet 'wild' lake with all you need from civilization

Beautiful cottage on a quiet lake. We enjoyed our stay a lot - nice to relax on a dock, swim, canoe or kayak or just be on a top porch with great view of the small wild lake. Having a camp fire and just gazing at the stars was definitely adding to it. Would not work for families with small children or people needing accessibility due to the stairs from the cottage to the lake. But worked for us perfectly! Definitely would like to come here again!

Rustic cabin on a beautiful lake

This was a great find. It was great to have all the water toys including a paddle board which was amazing! Host provided almost everything we needed except for a fan as it got quite hot even with all the windows open. Great selection of games books and puzzles. Thank you for the bottle of wine which was a lovely touch.

Lovely peaceful getaway

My daughter and I had a very nice 4 day stay. The cottage is small but clean and well kept. It had everything we needed. Rustic charm with lots of wood which we like. My daughter was thrilled there was a paddle board as this was something she really wanted to try and it was not mentioned in the posting, only the canoe and kayak. The lake is fairly small, canoed around the whole thing in about an hour but nice and calm since very few motor boats. Neighbours were super pleasant and chatty. Only recommendation on the posting is to include that there is a very steep lengthy set of steps from the cottage down to the dock. Would not be suitable for those with knee, hip or back problems. Lovely time, would go back again 👍🙂

Great place to get away from the city grind

Quiet, peaceful and serene surroundings: nothing fancy, but then it doesn't need to be. A bit louder on weekends. No internet took some getting used to, but we adjusted. Overall, a great time away from our busy every day lives.

1st Vacation in 16 years

I loved this cottage as did my adult kids. completely met my expectations. The dock was perfect. Lots of boardgames. Big shout out to the vintage stove. I'd book at this location in a heartbeat.
