About this property

Cozy Vintage Cabin on Lake Pokegama & MTB Trails

This cozy cabin is a tribute to days gone by when the cabin was just a place to keep your duffle and the real fun was on the dock, around the fire pit, and cooling off in the lake. We've added some modern comforts (even a TV!), but you still get that rustic experience of getting back to the basics that has captured the hearts of travelers for generations.

CABIN
The large windows have exceptional lake views and let in natural light all day long. The kitchen is outfitted with all of the essentials and there is dining inside and on the screen porch. One bedroom has a king bed the other bedroom has a built-in queen bed. Note that the bedrooms and and bathroom are quite small, this is an original Jack-and-Jill layout that was popular in 1950s cabins. There is a large heater the keeps the cabin toasty all winter (the floor stays cool, so slippers are recommended). The boathouse is usable through May-October, it's not heated.

We do our absolute best to keep pests outside, but this is located adjacent to many acres of forested land and is not bug-tight.

PROPERTY
The property is very quiet and tucked away on a dead-end road across from the Tioga Rec Area (home to world class MTB trails, hiking, mine-pit swimming, snowshoeing, and fat-biking). The nearest trail access is just a minute ride from your doorstep. South facing views from the elevated property look out onto Pokegama's largest bay and you can catch sunrises and sunsets from the cabin. Other outdoor amenities include a firepit, free firewood for bonfires and sauna, gas grill, and screen porch. There are seasonal neighbors on both sides, but most guests say that it feels very private.

LAKEFRONT
There are stairs down to the lake. We have a dock with space to park your boat. The lake is clear and great for swimming with a sandy bottom, pebble shoreline, and views that stretch for miles.

SAUNA
The 4 person cedar barrel sauna is wood fired. It's a short walk down the stairs to the lake for post-sauna dips.

Our family enjoys time together outdoors and places that embrace simplicity. We share our little cabin with the hope that it can be a place for others seeking these experiences as well.

Why they chose this property

Sugar Bay is the most peaceful spot on the lake, you truly feel tucked away when you are here. The skies are dark, you can hear the loons and the breezes through the trees, and the views are lovely from sun up to sun down.

What makes this property unique

Lake Pokegama is one of the premier lakes in Northern Minnesota. It's known for it's clear water, sandy shores, and wooded islands. As avid mountain bikers, this is a special spot for us with the world-class Tioga Recreation Area MTB trails right in the backyard.
