About this property
Los Muertos Beach:Paradise Awaits at Casa Tucan, Villa Blanca
Hola!
CASA TUCAN is one of eleven suites in the distinctive Villa Blanca condominium, renowned for its organic design by Mexican architect Diego Mendez De La Penas. Variously known as “the Piano Building” or “Vallarta’s Wedding Cake,” Villa Blanca remains one of the most architecturally distinctive buildings in Puerto Vallarta, and is widely recognized for its lush plantings and spectacular rooftop view.
Each unit in Villa Blanca is privately owned, and the building is serviced by a friendly and helpful manager fluent in English. Housekeeping service is included and available Monday - Saturday, and a security guard is present after dark.
CASA TUCAN is a LUXURIOUSLY spacious (MORE THAN 850 sq. ft.!) TRUE 1-BR, 2-Bath suite, perfect for short or long-term rentals! Quietly situated away from common areas.
The unit includes a full kitchen (sans oven), dining area, LR w/2 large sofas (each can sleep 1 adult), Private BR w/King-size bed, and 2 full Baths complete with large tiled showers. CASA TUCAN is a private retreat awash in light, and features its own PRIVATE TERRACE/LANAI, unique among 1-BR and studios in this building..
Additional amenities include the beautiful cooling pool at the building entrance patio, which offers a welcome respite from the glorious Vallartan sunshine. And the rooftop terrace is a haven for quiet sunsets or evening gatherings, offering a spectacular panoramic view of Banderas Bay from Los Arcos to downtown Puerto Vallarta. The rooftop terrace also features a traditional Mexican grill and outdoor bar/kitchen area.
For one of Vallarta’s most glorious beaches, cross the cobblestone Amapas Street, and you're less than 100 steps down to the beautiful Playa Los Muertos, with sand, surf, people-watching and an abundance of beach cafes, including the famous Blue Chairs Beach.
CASA TUCAN is centrally located in the Zona Romantica, and just a short walk to everything the Old Town and Olas Altas areas have to offer, from shopping to clubs and fine dining. Just minutes south of Casa Tucan lay numerous small, secluded beaches, and the area abounds in charming day-trip destinations rife with local color and culture. Whether you’re searching for a quiet romantic retreat, or an evening spent sipping martini’s in a luxurious cabaret lounge, Zona Romantica offers a quieter alternative to the bustle of Nuevo Vallarta and the Marina district.

Clean quaint Mexican villa! Close to the beach, to great food , and walking distance to all of PV! A bit of an uphill hike from the main beach area for two older ladies but good for getting steps in! Owners great and very responsive to water issue that was resolved quickly. Very friendly neighbours!
From beginning to end, everything was great. The villa was beautiful and conveniently located. The unit was very well maintained and clean the hosts were kind and helpful. Definitely recommend
We arrived and the unit had not been cleaned. The bed was not made, used towels were still in the restroom, and dirty and pans were still on the sink and stove. In response, the host was accommodating and understanding, and proceeded to refund the room to us while we looked for new housing for our trip.

I'm sorry to hear that you were dissatisfied with your stay, especially since you were upgraded to a much larger (2 BR) condo, with 2 terraces offering panoramic views of Banderas Bay. Also, per your requests prior to arrival, we allowed for early check-in and luggage storage, and provided you extensive information prior to arrival to enhance your visit.
Re. your “complaints:”
“To many stairs” and “no elevator:” If mobility is an issue for you, it would have been helpful to inform me or inquire about stairs prior to booking. I would’ve clearly told you (as I always respond when asked) that our condo may NOT be appropriate for the mobility-challenged.
-"fan controls didn't work": I was in the condo prior to your arrival, and all fan controls were in proper working order, and still are. If there was a problem, you should have contacted me, the mgr, or our maintenance man.
- “the hot water” is an on-demand tank, which takes a few minutes to heat up. Again, contacting me or staff would’ve addressed this concern.
- “the pool” has many hours of sun each day, and nowhere is it stated that it is private.
All your above concerns could’ve been addressed if you had inquired with me or staff, rather than give a poor review. Given these facts, and your satisfaction as told to our manager, I would contend that a 2-star rating/review is inappropriate.
Thank you again for your visit!
This was our third visit at Villa Blanca and it is just as lovely this time as it was the first time. What is fantastic is the green tropical foliage outside the balcony that attracts all sorts of birds and their songs as well as a cheeky squirrel that uses the power line as his personal highway!
Thanks Rob and Dan for yet another great visit.
The apartment was clean, bright, and pleasant. There are two bathrooms, which my wife liked. The kitchen is compact, but capable, and we saved quite a bit of money by eating in, then going out to nice restaurants with the savings. We particularly liked the balcony, which overlooked green space adjacent. There's a small table and two chairs, and we ate most of our meals outdoors. After a couple of days, we discovered the roof terrace, overlooking the Bay. After that we would often go up there to enjoy a drink as the sun set.We very much enjoyed the neighborhood, Zona Romantica. It is quirky and colorful, but we felt safe, and almost everybody we encountered was friendly. It was easy to walk down to the beach, then along the beach to the market area. Our hosts were great, providing both information and assistance when needed, not only as related to the condo, but also about the city and the area around the condo. They were particularly helpful with food shopping, and we were able to source almost everything we needed from the places they suggested. The support staff at the condo were all friendly and helpful! My wife particularly enjoyed having housekeeping make the beds and clean every day. It made it a real vacation for us both.We plan on returning to Casa Tucan next year, and would recommend it to others!
Stayed 10 days for a solo getaway at Casa Tucan. A small condo building with lots of character. Daniel's place was comfortable and fully stocked with everything needed to be self sufficient. AC was good when needed. The staff were super friendly and helpful whenever needed. Noise was a bit of an issue 9-5 weekdays due to a couple construction projects not far away. Nothing the owner can do and should resolve soon. The price reflects a good value for a good place to stay. 5 stars based on value, staff, and location!
Artsy Condo with Rural Feel in City....many steps!
Our little unit in Villa Blanca was very comfortable with easy access to activities in Zona Romantica....if you are healthy and fine with steps and hills. The beach is across the road and about 100 steps down between buildings. We loved being able to leave windows open or sit on out little deck, with the greenery providing privacy. ( PS We were not aware that the last week of January is a crazy festival for gay men. Not a concern for us but might be for some folks). Appreciated all the local info provided.

Thank you so much your recent visit, and we're delighted that you enjoyed your stay, and found our information files helpful.
As you mentioned, the last week of January is a major gay festival - "Beef Dip" - known around the world as one of the premier Gay Bear community events.
In reality, though, because Zona Romanatica is the "epicenter" of the Vallarta LGBTQI+ community, visitors to this special part of Puerto Vallarta should expect a significant Gay visibility factor, especially in high season. And New Years and Gay Pride week in May are also stand-out events, not to be missed!
Thank You! Rob & Dan
Very clean and functional. Staff very helpful and friendly. Great location even the stairs. Just 1 block from Los muertos beach. Beside blue chairs hotel.
It's a beautiful building and unit in a great location. The pictures can't do it justice. The staff is friendly and attentive. We'd stay there again anytime.
What a great place , who ever decorated it has great taste. The building is gorgeous I just could not put my finger on who designed it but very art deco. close enough to the beach and far enough away the noise from the festivities dont keep you awake. The only drawback was the air-conditioned did not work but I found out I did not really need it so I did not bother . I just left the windows open while I was there and enjoyed the breeze. The balcony a great place to sit and enjoy music and drink my coffee in the mornings. The people were so nice its definatly on my go back to visit list.
Perfect location (literally) steps from the beach!
This is a charming condo with two good-sized rooms: one a living/dining room with kitchen and the other is a large bedroom with a sitting area and a desk. It overlooks a jungle Greenbelt/pathway area outside of the opening woodframe windows. It has all the amenities: fully stocked kitchen, Air conditioning, a couple ceiling fans, plenty of towels, and comes with daily maid service. Check in was super easy and efficient. The owners were extremely communicative and helpful. The stairs are a one minute straight shot to the beach, but if you don’t want to walk up them you can walk a block to the north and just walk on the streets, with a slighter incline. Strongly recommend Casa Tucan!
I had a great experience renting casa Tucan the condo is in a great location and has everything you need to enjoy your stay. I would highly recommend anyone who is looking to stay in the romantics zone to stay at this location.
I very much enjoyed my stay and will return. The condo is exactly as advertised (except it may be better). If you can negotiate steps this condo is perfect - If steps are a problem this unit is not for you. (I'm 70 and had no problem.) Three flights of steps are required to get to the unit The unit is approximately 100 feet from the beach - but this requires 97 steps or you can walk 4 blocks and then arrive at the beach. In my opinion this is the area to stay, as it is quiet, a relatively easy walk to shops, restaurants the Mecado, Bus Stops etc.
Condo had everything we needed. Did not like that the curtains did not go all the way across in bedroom but we rigged something up. Also AC kept leaking told property several times for maintenance. Also bed is really really hard compared to other properties I have stayed at in old town. For the property price should have a better sleeping bed. Overall I love Vallarta and this property was perfect location one more thing when buying groceries be prepared to haul them up 45 steps. If Jose or Chuy around you can have them help and tip them. Again just suggestions for property I did love the building condo and location ..also the owners were quick to respond when I messaged them. I would stay here again.

Second Visit Just as Charming
We had another wonderful stay at Casa Tucan. The property manager, Jose Luis, and the house keeping staff were very friendly and welcoming.
This trip we ended up eating at home more. There is a great little store in town called Mikey’s that have a great selection of cooked foods and cold salads which made for a lovely meal in. We also were able to enjoy the Saturday Market where there is a woman who sells her home-made tamales. Amazing!!
With all the changes that are happening to Puerto Vallarta, it’s nice that there are still some familiar spots and we look forward to staying at Casa Tucan again next year.
Thank you Rob and Daniel!

Unique architectural charmer on Amapas
Comfortable 1 bedroom apartment with 2 full bathrooms, functional kitchen with all amenities and a small balcony suitable for dining. Staff are very kind and helpful. Like everywhere in PV, music and construction are prevalent; must be able to climb stairs. Views of lush greenery and ocean view from the roof deck. If you are a late sleeper, you may want to bring a mask. Enjoy.
