About this property

Large comfortable log house with great lake swimming and kayaking

Large comfortable log house across a street from great swimming, kayaking, canoeing, and fishing. Only 5 minutes from Mt Abram ski area and 20 minutes from Sunday River. Connect into snowmobile trails without driving. This house was purchased decades ago as a year-round vacation place for our extended family. Therefore it has all the conveniences we like to have – clothes washer & dryer, hair dryer, gas grill, board games, wooden jigsaw puzzles, good kitchen cookware, bike pump, cornhole, etc., even backup hats and mittens for winter.

The top floor has a queen bedroom, a bedroom with two twin beds (that can be pushed together), and a large double-sink bathroom with tub shower, as well as an open loft area (on the same level -- not up a ladder) for sitting or additional sleeping. The main floor has a queen bedroom and full bathroom with a stall shower, and a large open-floor area with kitchen, dining room table, and living room with a wood fireplace. The kitchen is fully equipped and has a massive peninsula counter top that is great for leaving your munchies on while still having space to prepare meals and to eat them at the bar stools on the other side of the peninsula or at the dining room table or out on the deck. The walk-out basement is fully finished and has 5 twin beds -- great for the kids to have a slumber party while the parents are in the bedrooms upstairs. The huge deck with propane grill just outside the kitchen sliding door is great for eating and relaxing in summer and fall. Kids will have fun in the yard playing frisbee, croquet, cornhole, whiffleball, and other games that we store in the garage. We have a large aluminum canoe, 4 kayaks, and all the necessary paddles and life preservers. Just across the street is our swimming area, where you can walk in on sand or safely dive off the end of our dock. We have various noodles and personable inflatable rafts for playing with in the lake.

Great location
We had a great stay in Woodstock. No complaints, just be aware there is no air conditioning, so it can get very warm on hot summer nights. The house came with everything that was needed, and the lake was very relaxing. If you are looking for a place to get away for a quick vacation, this is your place.

Lake house vacation
Great vacation house with plenty of room for a family to spread out. Many amenities provided by the host to utilize including outdoor games for the kiddos as well as kayaks and a canoe. Lovely view off of the front deck of the lake. Parents of very young children need to be aware that the house is close to the road and while it is not a super busy road, vehicles do travel quite fast by the house. Not a problem with the kids in our party (ages 5 and 10) We all enjoyed the wooden puzzles which were made by the owner. A great vacation!

Host profile image
I live in Boston but spend lots of time at my extended family's year-round vacation house near Bethel Maine (about 3 hours from Boston). Over the past two years I've enjoyed making various improvements to the property to make it more appealing and more convenient to use as a guest. I started renting it out to short-term renters in the summer of 2020.
