Private and serene one-acre lakefront property with 156-feet of white-sand beach with large deck and spectacular sunsets. Swim-worthy clear "ridge" lake. Moss-covered oak trees. BBQ grills and fire pit. Two-story house circa 1919 with old Florida charm. Located in Highlands County, Florida in the town of Avon Park; 10 minutes to the town of Sebring and 30 minutes to the towns of Lake Placid and Lake Wales.
ON MAIN FLOOR: Master bedroom (king) with bathroom. Den with two twin beds serves as a 4th bedroom and game room. Sitting room with extra table for overflow dining. Living room and separate dining room.
UPSTAIRS: Two bedrooms, one with a queen bed and the other with four twin beds. One shared full bath with tub.
House has city water, comfortable beds with mattress toppers, laundry room, three smart TVs (Netflix, HBO, Amazon Prime and YouTube TV), internet, dishwasher, a/c and heat, board games, Xbox 360, Ps3, Wii, and blue ray player with variety of dvd movies.
Outside amenities include 2 kayaks, deck chairs. Public boat ramp nearby to launch your pwc, small fishing or ski boat.
Approximately 1.25 hours to Disney and other theme parks; 30 mins to Legoland and to Lake Placid; 20 minutes to Sebring Raceway and to Highlands Hammock State Park; 25 minutes to Bok Tower; and 90 minutes to the sand beaches of the east and west coasts of Florida. Convenient to grocery stores, Walmart, good local restaurants and multiple great golf courses. Experience the "real" Florida in the state's beautiful lake and citrus region!
Restaurant suggestions: 18 East, Sandhill Grill, Market 27, Taqueria Merlo, Dee's Diner, Faded Bistro. Visit Maxwell Groves Country Store for orange ice cream and orange juice.
Please note that for rentals of greater than two weeks, or for bookings made two months or more in advance, a non-refundable deposit of 50% is required within two weeks of booking notwithstanding any posted policy to the contrary.

Avon Park Country Home

Peaceful, secluded and energizing. This country home offers everything you need for a weekend recharge or a serene week by the lake. This is our second time at this property and we were sad to leave. We will be back again.

Beautiful Lake House

The rental was terrific, and the owner was very easy to communicate with. Beautiful sunsets on the beach and deck, and a great fire pit on the beach. The house was roomy and cozy, and the beds were comfortable. Overall I think it was great for a quick getaway or a longer stay. Highly recommended!

Another Great Stay!

We stayed here in late 2021. When we needed to come back into the area, I specifically looked for this place again and luckily it was available. Large beach, giant deck, and spacious home make for a very enjoyable experience for larger groups. We will miss it!

Great Lake House stay

Very relaxing and quiet property. You have your own private beach with lots of floats and kayaks to play with. They have thought of everything! They supplied so many all the extras that you could need.

Perfect Central Florida getaway

An awesome place! Yes, an older house, but super clean and stocked up with everything you need! We spent most of the time kayaking and swimming in a beautiful, almost private-like lake. Fire on a beach, grilling, just enjoying the outdoors - what else is needed for a perfect vacation?! Will definitely be back soon!

A lovely lakeside location

A lovely lakeside location in a spacious characterful home with all modern conveniences. The deck is a great place to relax and watch the sunset/ sunrise but remember to pack some bug repellent/ citronella candles! Shops and restaurants are within a short drive. Nice experience - thank you!

Relaxing getaway

My family and I had a wonderful time at this lakehouse. We enjoyed swimming in the lake, relaxing on the beach, and playing a few of the many games in the den. This house had everything we needed and more, and the close proximity to the lake was perfect. The gorgeous sunset on our first night was just as pictured in the listing - if not better. We hope to book again soon.

Beautiful

Such a beautiful house. Love the old Florida feel with the furniture in home. So cozy and comfortable. Amazing views on the lake and amole seating to enjoy it. Love the beach for our 1.5 year old to test the waters and play in the sand. Great proximity to stores and things to do. We had an amazing time and highly recommend this home!

We are a family of Florida natives who reside in South Florida but live to escape to "The Lake House". I spent my youth bouncing between Miami-Dade County (the location of my parents' jobs and my school) and Highlands County, where we spent weekends and summers (when my public-school-teacher parent was off-duty). When I had kids, I yearned for them to be raised in the same care-free, rural, nature-filled environment that I was privileged to have experienced. In the year of my 40th birthday, my husband and I were lucky enough to find this unique property, and the rest is history. We have spent birthdays, holidays, and countless other "lake escapes" with family and friends here. This is where my kids played hide-and-seek, climbed trees, built sand castles, and learned to fish and water ski. It is our "happy place", where we come to feed our souls. We hope you enjoy our lake house as much as we have and still do.
