A comfortable and quiet gîte with private pool, wellness massages 🌺

A charming cottage, tranquil double bedroom, gite with heated 4x9 swimming pool and terrace. Located in the heart of south-west France, near the Charente/Dordogne border, this gîte offers a lounge/kitchen, a double bedroom with 180x200 bed (on request, at booking, can be prepared in 2 beds of 90x200).

The linen kit is available for €10 per stay (1 week max.) It includes:
1 bath towel + 1 hand towel/person
Bath mats

1 Fitted sheet 180X200
1 Duvet cover 260x240
4 pillowcases
2 bolster pillowcases

The shower room has been renovated for comfort. There is a separate utility room with washing machine and space to store golf clubs, riding equipment etc. TV and wifi with French, English and international channels. Sorry but this is a child and pet free area.

The living room opens onto a private terrace and garden to enjoy BBQ and alfresco dining.
Parking for cars and campervans and space in our barn for motorbikes and bicycles.
The heated swimming pool is a few steps from the terrace. Sun loungers are available. However, please note that depending on the weather, nights that are too cool for example, it will not be possible for us to heat the pool. Swimming pool closed from October to April inclusive.

Lou's cottage has also opened its massage area, a 20% discount is granted to guests on one-hour massages, take advantage of your holidays to pamper yourself!

Le Mas is a friendly hamlet located close to (10 minutes) the beautiful town of La Rochefoucauld with its castle built in the 11th and 17th century. In the town you will find all amenities including restaurants, cafes, shops (including 2 large supermarkets), weekly markets and throughout July and August live concerts in the cloister of the twelfth century convent. Everything from jazz, blues, rock, folk and classical is usually offered free of charge.

Situated in one of the most renowned gastronomic areas in France, it is not surprising to find a number of fine dining restaurants in beautiful rural locations in the area whilst being within easy reach of the gîte, but for those who want something simple and convenient, pizzas and burgers etc. are also available.

Angouleme, the capital of the Charente is only 30 minutes away and has a wealth of restaurants, shops, museums, sports facilities including ice skating (refreshing during the summer)... There are many festivals in and around Angouleme throughout the summer and a visit to the old town and its cartoon murals is a must.

By car, the Dune du Pilat and Arcachon are 2 hours 15 minutes, Bordeaux is 2 hours, Bergerac about 2 hours, Limoges about 1 hour and to reach us by car from one of the UK ferry ports or the tunnel it takes about 7 hours.

You can go horseback riding at the Mas, at the Calédo equestrian centre (a few minutes walk from the cottage...)

12 minutes from the Mas via country roads, there is the international golf course of La Preze. 2 courses are available: the international championship course and the 18-hole pitch and putt.

If you prefer to have a picnic on the water you can go down the Touvre by kayak, it's magnificent and you leave for a few hours of tranquility along the water. It is also possible on the lakes of Haute Charente, at the nautical base of the Lacs de Haute Charente.
If golf and horse riding aren't your thing, then cycling and walking in a superb setting may be right for you!

Many hikes, of different difficulty and distance are at your disposal.
