James, thank you for choosing the world class Modern Castle for your reservation. The Modern Castle is located in one of the safest and most prestigious neighborhoods of Fort Lauderdale and only 1 block from one of the top elementary schools in Fort Lauderdale. As is common in many areas, cars that are left unlocked by the street overnight tend to attract unwanted attention. Either way, Latitude Key sympathizes with your concerns and is always here to assist.

Ryan, thank you for the few kind words about The Modern Castle. The remainder of your review is quite troubling and must be addressed in full detail. I want to first apologize for the delay in reply. I wanted to be sure any real issues mentioned were fully addressed and that it was clear to others by the immediate prior and following full 5-star reviews that many of these issues were completely fabricated in an attempt to extort us into giving you a massive refund for what turned out to be some very minor, unforeseen and uncontrollable issues. Latitude Key / The Modern Castle staff is available 24/7 to assist all guests with any possible issues. We ask than any issue is reported immediately so that our staff has the ability to rectify the issue immediately. The Modern Castle is a 10,200 square foot mansion maintained to impeccable standards. Although minor wear and tear are common on any property of this popularity, we have monthly, quarterly and major annual maintenance overhauls to keep the property as nice as possible for every guest. Since it is a very large estate, minor issues do arise from time to time, but our 24/7 maintenance and concierge service can normally tackle anything in a few hours or less. The design and layout of the home has been enjoyed by hundreds of guests and made clear in their 5-star reviews. This is a unique property designed for large group vacations, events and entertaining. The listing provides detailed pictures, videos and even a 3D Digital Floorplan to ensure the property is accurately represented. Unforeseen and uncontrollable issues- During your stay, we had a massive rainstorm. The roof did develop a small leak which we were not informed of until after you checked out. During the checkout inspection, it was noted the door to the rooftop terrace was left open allowing water to pour in. Even so, immediately upon your departure, we had a crew fully refurbish the various roof surfaces to ensure the roof would have no further issues. We ask that guests do not leave doors and windows open during rainstorms. The toilet in bathroom 7 stopped working day 3 of your 4-night stay. It was determined to need a special-order part in order to be repaired that would arrive the next day. You mentioned you had 9 other toilets that could be used and preferred us to wait to repair it after departure. Unfortunate attempts- All Latitude Key pools are heated to 88 all year and spas/ hot tubs to 104 all year, as was the case for your stay. When you reported the hot tub not hot the day before checkout, maintenance was dispatched immediately and it was determined the water level of the hot tub had dropped in half, not allowing water to circulate through the heating system and therefore not being heated. You explained the water level drop was caused by you overloading it with people and therefore overflowing it. We immediately added water and it began heating again. It has had no issues prior to this or since. The banisters were inspected during the checkout inspection and none were found to be dangerous or loose at all. Almost immediately after making your reservation in December 2021 you reached out about finding the property for sale online. It was made clear that the owners had listed temporarily to test the market and the listing would be removed shortly. It was also made clear that in the very unlikely event that it was to be sold, all reservations would have to be fully honored. The for-sale listing was deactivated January 6th 2022, 35 days prior to your arrival, and this was also communicated to you at this time. Bringing this up in a review and not being truthful only shows malice. Latitude Key stands out to all guests for the most efficient and consistent communication practices and the industry. Our history shows no less than 12 pre arrival property discussion emails at your request, 8 prearrival instructional emails and 19 immediate response text messages during your stay. As is clearly evident by our continued 5-star reviews, we fully intend to continue operating this property at a 5-star level. The Modern Castle just won several awards in the Best of Fort Lauderdale 2022 series and there are no plans to change course anytime soon. Ryan, it is truly unfortunate that you decided to take this route in your attempts. We work very hard to make sure every guest departs with wonderful, life long memories. We even purchased almost $1000 in yard games for the property at your request (at no expense to you), prior to your arrival, because we wanted you to have the experience you expected. Latitude Key and The Modern Castle will continue to be here to serve all of our guests’ requests and needs and offer a true 5-star experience for years to come.
