It was in a nice area, nice yard for my dog, very clean and the kitchen was well stocked, didn’t need to bring a lot. The only downfall was the noise from the traffic that started at 3:30 AM. We would stay there again.

This house is exceptionally clean and well appointed. The small fenced area for pets is very much appreciated especially at night. Host is east to communicate with and very responsive. Location is a plus as it is easy to reach all parts of the island.

We had a great stay! Exactly as advertised with property size, location, amenities. The process was very smooth. We loved the deck and grill for a peaceful evening. House was very well stocked and in a conveniently central location. Great if you want more space on the quieter side of MDI. Would definitely stay here again.

We arrived when it was dark and actually drove past the property twice. It was confusing because the instructions referred to “ two driveways with a wooden fence in between “. The first driveway doesn’t really look like a driveway, especially at night. We were advised that GPS wouldn’t locate the residence but ours actually did so that would be our recommendation.The house is charming, well-stocked and homey. The decor relates to the local area. Great stay!

We absolutely loved our stay, it was not only a lovely home but it was in a great location for all of the hiking trails in Acadia or to go to bar harbor. It was also a wonderful home for our dog who got to enjoy the yard and the fenced in portion which was great for letting her out at night and not having to worry about any animals. Overall it was a wonder place to stay and we will definitely be booking again!

Wonderful home base on MDI

What a lovely house and such thoughtful touches! I wanted to stay around Somesville for ease of traveling the quiet side as well as main attractions of MDI. It’s a great location, private, with plenty of parking and the house was comfortable with lots of charm. A great place to stay!

Can't wait to come back.

This house was amazing! We had such a great stay. Everything was just like advertised. The location was perfect for visiting Bar Harbor and Acadia. The house was pristine. There were plenty of extra supplies when/if we ran out. We can't wait to stay there again.

We loved our time here. This house is the perfect distance from Acadia and Bar Harbor. We spent most evenings sitting on the deck and saw lots of wild life, including a family of foxes and a bald eagle in the back yard. Overall, this was a beautiful home with everything. we needed. to enjoy the week! We would stay here again!

Convenient Location

The house worked well for our family of four. The road is a little noises as some other reviews noted but we really like the location which was convenient to both South Harbor and Bar Harbor. The location also provided convenient access to hiking trails on MDI. I would definitely consider staying here again.

Great Property

Absolutely enjoyed our stay at this house. The property was very clean, and had many supplies to make it feel more like home. The information binder was very helpful for settling into the area. Great central location a short drive from shops, restaurants and Acadia. We would not hesitate to stay at this property again if we are in the area.

Charming Home in An Ideal Location

This house really goes out of its way to meet guest needs. I had a very minor hiccup which was addressed immediately and thoughtfully. I could not recommend this place enough!

Very convenient location, clean, and comfortable!

We loved staying here with friends, it’s a great location for easy access to the east & west sides of the park. It was super clean and comfortable as well. We appreciated the deck and the small fenced in area for our friends dog. We had a lovely stay and would definitely recommend to others! You can hear car traffic from the main road, but the location, comfort, and cleanliness of the home is worth it. Thank you for a great stay!

This is such a great house with a perfect location to all the points on Mount Desert Island! The home is comfortable, beautifully decorated, clean, and well-supplied - just as described in the listing. While on a main road, the property is private. There is even a little, fenced-in area where the dog could be let out alone. The backyard is spacious and allows for children and the dog to play. Perfect home; perfect vacation. Can't wait to return again!

Fall in Mount Dessert

Husband, myself and our dog stayed in this wonderfully appointed home. Super clean, our host thought of everything we could possibly need. Centrally located we could be in Bar Habor, ANP or Southwest Harbor within 15 minutes. Yes, there is some road noise in the front bedroom, but that subsided as the evening lengthened. We did not feel it was an issue and hope to return to this home again!

Mount Desert Island Getaway

We really enjoyed our stay at the Somes Harbor House. Great central location, very comfortable and charming house. Loved the back deck and our dog enjoyed it as well. There was an apple tree on the corner of the property and we saw a buck one morning enjoying the fallen apples. Short drive to all the great adventures on MDI. There was some street noise but was fairly warned in the listing and homeowners had solutions. A+ experience.

Welcoming Home in a Central Location

We loved our stay in this older but clean and welcoming home in the beautiful area of Somesville, centrally located to everything on Mt. Desert island. The kitchen and full bath were both large and well-stocked, the living room was spacious with comfortable furniture, and the deck was delightfully sunny in the morning for coffee and shaded in the afternoon. Our dog especially enjoyed the large yard for roaming and play. We used only the front (king) bedroom but had no issue with road noise since the air conditioning window unit muffled sounds. We would definitely stay at this lovely property again on our next visit to MDI.

Perfect

It was a good location to all the park. A very cute old New England home. There was a problem with a window A/C unit still in place which was causing cold air into the bedroom, however as soon as I told the property manager they came and took it out. Very fast response. We really appreciated it.
