About this property

Perched atop the Rocky Coast of the Atlantic Ocean with Stunning Views...

Enjoy sweeping vistas of the Atlantic Ocean from this 2002 home perched among spruce trees above the rocky coast. Watch for bald eagles and seals. Fall asleep to the sound of crashing waves. Walk down to the edge of the ocean to lounge or picnic.

This contemporary home has a welcoming and spacious feel, with cathedral ceilings and south-facing dormers in the main room. The deck offers unobstructed views of Hendrick's Head, the Cuckolds and the lighthouse located there, historic Damariscove Island, and the open ocean. The home is nestled in a private wooded area. It is located across the street from Reid State Park, and is a short walk and is walking distance by road to the park entrance and to East Beach. Reid State Park stretches over 1,776 acres, and has almost two miles of beaches and miles of hiking trails.

The dining room extends from the house towards the sea, and has windows on three sides. The well-equipped kitchen has maple cabinetry, dolomite counters, and stainless appliances. The first floor has radiant heated oak floors. The master bedroom has closets and an en suite bathroom with whirlpool tub and a double sink. The second floor has three bedrooms: one with a queen bed, one with a double bed, and one with a bunkbed (with a double and a twin.) The latter doubles as an office, with a desk and an extra-wide monitor. There is an outdoor shower.

great retreat for local staycationing

i live in maine and wanted something nearby for an end of summer local ocean getaway-this was perfect. ample space and oh so close to the ocean and walkable to the underrated gem- reid state park. fuklly equipped kitchen, lovely art touches throughout and not overstuffed decor-wise which can be an issue with rentals- there was plenty of dresser and closet space to use as well as a functioning laundry area. great stay and will stay again if possible. alos, firewood provided- nice touch.

Definitely a Maine property

We had a wonderful stay at this first rate Maine rental. The house is as described and the host very much in touch. A five minute walk to Reed State Park and the owners provide a park pass for entry. Five Island Lobster House close by and we would recommend dining at Blu just down the road. We enjoyed early morning park visits , looking for bird life and we spotted many species, and deer , does with their fawns was a treat. The beach at Read is special. Busy on the weekend, but a lot less busy during the week. A great time and would recommend if you are looking for a Maine experience.

Scenic, Private, Relaxing Getaway

This VRBO rental property didn't disappoint. The views from the back deck and A-Frame windows provide ocean views and wildlife all day. Sunrises are spectacular and the constant sounds of the waves transport your spirit into a place of relaxation within the first few hours. The property is clean, well stocked for families that like to make their meals while on vacation. The great living room was spacious and open to the kitchen which had a great feel. Marsha was available to us for any questions or concerns we had while in Georgetown. We enjoyed our 5 day vacation and would definitely stay at this property again. We even saw a Minke whale from our back deck as it surfaced 3 times. That sighting was unexpected and that made our vacation memorable!

Great place, great property.

This is a special place, with a generous feel, arranged and maintained by owners who clearly enjoy giving guests a wonderful experience. The house itself is excellent. Very comfortable layout, for either a couple, who can live entirely on the first floor (which includes a large, attractive master bedroom suite) or a family (given two nice bedrooms upstairs, plus a small bunk room suitable for children). At one point we had six adults and were perfectly comfortable--didn't feel at all crowded. Nor did it feel too spacious for just the two of us. The living areas are very pleasant, with nice, well-placed furniture and lighting. The kitchen is well-stocked, with an excellent stove and great counter space. The living and dining rooms--and of course the deck--provide beautiful views across the water to a distant shore and islands, and close in views of working fishing boats, the occasional seal, waves lapping or crashing onto the rocks below, and many species of seabirds--even a neighboring bald eagle that regularly fished right out in front of us. Aside from the waves and chirping birds, the place is silent. We were there late September and early October, with a wide range of temps (and many days in t-shirts!), and the house remained steadily comfortable. Finally, the location is fantastic. The neighboring houses are mostly hidden. There's a short walk down to the rocky shore (no sand, but it's nice to sit on the big rocks and watch the waves swirling in and out). And, best of all, it's a 3-minute walk into gorgeous Reid State Park. Another few minutes and you're on the first beach! We plan to come back!

Lovely ocean view home

Loved the view, the home was well-stocked and organized, and the owner was quick to respond to questions. Loved the access to Reid State Park, too! We would happily rent here again.

Wonderful views

Great house with everything you need. We spent a lot of time on the deck or in the living room looking at the ocean. Having the state park 200 yds away is a plus. The Osprey and Gray Havens are fun. One tip: no groceries stores within fifteen miles, so shop on your way there. We'd stay there again.

Getaway by the Sea

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The home is very comfortable and had everything we needed. Our favorite part was sitting out on the deck and listening to the crashing waves. The stars were pretty amazing at night as well. We enjoyed our stay and would return.
