Listing was inaccurate, but I believe host has since changed it. The bedroom has a double not a queen. No futon, but a sleeper sofa of average quality. Short walk to town. Good location. Excellent check in and host communication. Kitchen is fine but minimally equipped. A/C is via a window unit.
This is a very clean, modern and well-appointed apartment, probably best suited for a single couple given the one bedroom and the smaller kitchen (the living room is the largest of the three rooms). Nevertheless we were two couples and did fine with the fold-out coach/bed in the living room for three nights. The apartment had everything we needed and Duane was a wonderful host, very responsive and eager to ensure a good experience. (E.g. when he realized there were only two coffee cups at the apartment he dropped off two more for us!) Bennington makes a great base to stay in, with a small but lively downtown with several good restaurants, bars and a great coffeeshop and bookstore. This apartment is about a half-mile walk from there, in an area that is mostly local/legacy housing but with some renovations like 272 Union. We would stay here again, as we like to XC ski up at Prospect Mountain, which is just 10 minutes away. Bromley Mountain and other downhill areas are within 35-45 minutes via Rt. 7, so they also are easily accessed. Overall it's a great place at a fair price.
Great experience staying at this apartment for 3 months in summer/fall of 2021. It’s very convenient to everything, walking distance to downtown and 30-45 minutes from more outdoor adventures than we could squeeze into 3 months. Duane is an attentive host and takes great care of the property. He made sure it was fully stocked with everything we needed to feel at home.
My husband and I called Duane's apartment home for 3 months in the summer/fall of 2021. It had everything we needed to feel at home, was a short walk to Downton Bennington and the perfect hub for hiking, paddling, skiing, snowshoeing and exploring this gorgeous corner of the world. Duane is a great and very professional host, always available when needed yet respects his guests' privacy. We'd stay again in a heartbeat.
Lovely modern apartment as part of a Victorian house, so modern conveniences in a charming setting., with everything necessary for a pleasant stay. We were able to walk downtown for dinner and shopping. The host was responsive to our needs and provided information re local restaurants etc. We would definitely stay again if we were in Bennington.

I've lived, and with my wife Betsy, raised my family here in Bennington since 1992. I was born and attended school in Fairfield, CT then moved north to be closer to the ski slopes I enjoyed during my youth. I'm a big supporter of the downtown revitalization efforts here which ultimately led me to purchase this building which was vacant and in need of much TLC. In my professional capacity I am a CPA (Certified Public Accountant) licensed in Vermont. After tax season ends in April, I enjoy designing and managing the rehabilitation of older buildings like this one to get them back into productive use.
