Very pet friendly with a nice fenced in front and back yard. Crate and bowls already provided.Very unique decor which the kids loved. The arcade console was a hit too.
Sam was really responsive to my messages. He answered all our questions and made getting access to the house easy. The website with house info was especially helpful. Would absolutely recommend!

This was the creepiest house in which i have ever stayed. Are there really people who like to shower with a giant rubber dog head pearing at them out if the ceiling while shivering in the drafty bathroom? Do people really like sleeping under a creepy bunny costume stareing down at them ffom above the bed? The giant kitchen garbage can had no bags anywhere in the house. The roof gutters where so overflowing with ice that the step out the back door, where one has to pass to empty the garbage, is an ice covered death trap that one can not see until they are laying on their back looking up at the back door. The ad makes it look like there are a few cute doggie theamed decorations; this house is so full of creepy animal theamed installations that the owner(host) clearly did not have time or money to address the structual and environmental concerns if the house. They did nit address the ineffective HVAC, the need for a battering ram to open the front door, the poor placement of the front yard fence and gate, the rolling floor, or the ever changing internet connectivity. They did have time to remotely flicker the lights while we were watching tv, which again fits with the whole creepy "thrift store meets grandma the cat lady" vibe of this property. Save your money, the convenience of the localtion does not make up for this property's lack of maintenance and basic structural features.

Hi Eric,
I’m sincerely sorry to learn that you did not enjoy your stay. We take guest comfort and safety very seriously, and it is clear we fell short of your expectations during your visit.
Your stay coincided with the aftermath of the worst snowstorm to hit Columbus in a decade, paired with simultaneous subzero temperatures. This was the most aggressive test for the house systems since we acquired the property, and the extreme conditions exposed several vulnerabilities that we have since moved quickly to resolve.
Since your stay, we completed the following upgrades:
HVAC: Our technician installed a new furnace and additional ductwork running below the first-floor bathroom, kitchen, and bedroom to ensure consistent warmth even in extreme cold.
Structural & Safety: We have adjusted the hinges on the front door for ease of use and installed additional downspouts on either side of the back door to prevent the ice build-up you experienced.
Connectivity: The home now features a new modem and router with 500Mbps internet to ensure a stable connection.
Lighting: We apologize for the flickering you experienced; the historic storm caused several local power fluctuations, but we have since inspected all smart-home integrations to ensure they are functioning correctly.
Thank you for the feedback that helped us make these necessary improvements. We wish you better travels in the future.
My family stayed at puppy heaven for graduation weekend. It is 1.5 miles from the stadium so we could walk to graduation. There was enough parking to park 4 cars behind the house. House was clean and had first floor bathroom and bedroom for my mom. Decorations were fun. We will never forget the house.
The house is definitely unique, we are all “dog people” and got quite a kick out of the decor. House was clean and beds were comfy! The only complaint is that we didn’t get very many wash cloths for our entire group. But it wasn’t a huge deal. We all had a great time and the house was close to Historic Crew Stadium, which was great because we were in town for a concert there!
Its an interesting place to say the least. It was clean but not my clean. It is an older home and it was very humid so its a bit musty. It's decor is bizarre 😳 just as the title implies. It was comfort and the dogs loved it. The yard could use some gravel maybe and a few less dog reindeer
We really enjoyed our trip and our stay. A couple of us have dogs, so even though we were all adults, still enjoyed the puppy Xmas theme. Everything was super and especially convenient to Ohio State.
Great location. Decor that you will always remember!
We stayed here when we moved my daughter into college and wanted a place that was dog friendly. This place took that to the extreme. The decor is intentionally over the top and we have been laughing about it for a week. The place was clean, the owner was responsive and I look forward to my next stay here.
The owners of the property were great to deal with and really helpful. It’s definitely not your typical boring decor that is found in most rentals, with the Christmas dog theme. Really fun 🤩
I give it 5 stars, and do have some fair and balanced feedback.
For sleeping 7 people, there’s no place to accommodate eating meals with those people. We only had 4 in our group, and still didn’t have any place to sit and eat. The only table in doors seats 2. Our first night, we had family over & pulled the picnic table up on the patio and placed 8 lawn chairs around it but proceeded to get eaten alive by Mosquitos. The yard is not at all groomed and covered in rotting walnuts, making for a trip hazard walking to and from the car, and also attracting flies and bugs to the rotting piles of decaying walnuts. Easy remedy is to clean up and groom at least the front yard for paying guests ahead of their arrival. Inside the property is mostly clean (except for the floors, our feet are covered in black) and the decor is whimsical. It’s like an adult Chuck E. Cheese / Pee Wee's play house & is quite hilarious and entertaining. Our dog loved it! We picked up after him in the yard, so I would say to include that in the house rules to help maintain the yard too. The Air conditioner rattles loudly all through the night, so turned on some white noise to counter the sound. There’s no closets to hang up clothing or unpack into. We still had a great time. The main, important things worked well and were in place. Property manager very nice and responsive. Thanks!!! You’re well on your way to offering something nice and memorable here. Overall 5 stars! Best wishes, Erin.

About the host
Hosted by Samuel Goldberg
I'm a moderately geeky guy with a passion for history and design. I dedicate substantial time and effort to this house and am always eager for recommendations re continuous improvements/changes.
Why they chose this property
Proximity to OSU's campus, Clintonville, downtown (straight shot down Summit or HIgh St.), and event center including Historic Crew Stadium. Proximate to, though well-insulated from, I-71.
Also, the character, resilience, quality and design of the historic housing inventory in SOHUD.
What makes this property unique
We meticulously and thoroughly renovated and modernized this century old craftsman. We added luxury conveniences while integrating the home's original design with a classical "puppies celebrating Christmas" theme throughout. So far, I've only had one person throw a bible at me.
