Private Newly Built Woman Lake Cabin with Detached Barn Style Bunk House
Mark Twain once wrote that somethings are so difficult to explain, they must be experienced! Privacy and quiet rarely found on a major, pristine lake. Three sides of the property are either protected by a National Forest or the vast expansive lake shore of Women Lake. The other side is a buffer woods to the only other cabin close. Hear the quiet? My brother and I spent two years lovingly remodeling this generational property, adding modern conveniences while still preserving. Beamed screened porch and entry ceilings, expansive deck, two story great room with skip sawn pine with beam ceiling, reading loft with beautiful lake views, two story stone gas fireplace, and converted the curved Amish built barn into an upper deck bunkhouse with full bath including walk in shower. There are three rooms in the main cabin (2 queens and 1 king) with a queen pull out couch. The bunk room has three twin over queen bunks, smart TV’s, wifi. The pictures tell the rest... would sleep 17. We plan to share our treasure a few times each year. Read the reviews as they come as we so welcome them from those who appreciate this beauty!

Place is great love the space and love the location. Only down fault is the beds in the lower level where they are dent in the middle so it was a little harder to sleep on. Over all i had a great time with familys at the cabin.
This cabin is in a great location off of Woman Lake. We loved the short drive to downtown Longville for any errands and the turtle races. Cabin was very clean, updated, with a beautiful view. We look forward to our stay next year!
Overall the house and bunkhouse was great! The six oldest grandchildren enjoyed the privacy of the bunkhouse. Air conditioning was a bonus. Could use more dock space.
It was a great stay! The only reason I didn’t give the overall rating higher is because TV’s didn’t work in house or bunk house.

Thank you for your feedback, and I apologize that the TV was not working during your stay. We recently upgraded to a faster internet box, and it’s possible that the devices hadn’t been fully reconnected yet. In the future, please don’t hesitate to contact me directly — I’m always happy to help resolve any issues right away.
Just as a note, the TVs are smart TVs, so guests will need to log in with their own streaming services to access sports and other content.
Our family loved this property. We really enjoyed the screened porch. We appreciated the swimming raft, Paddle board & kayaks & that they sprayed for mosquitoes. Nice job of landscaping around the house & plenty of parking.
The space was perfect for our multi-generational family. We had several college-age kids and teens in the bunkhouse which was a great private space for them to stay up late and sleep in away from parents and grandparents in the main house. We loved the serenity and beauty of the bay but the ability to quickly get to the big part of Woman Lake too. The dock is small and was a bit challenging for 2 boats but we made it work. We were surprised to find only silverware for about 8 when the house can sleep so many more than that. We made due with plastic ware. Overall, we can boast so many more positives than negatives about this space and are already considering another stay!
Our family of 6 (my husband, 2 kids and me, plus my dad and sister) thoroughly enjoyed our time at the cabin. Despite cool weather, we loved the fishing, spending time in the screened in porch, hanging out in the loft (the kids!), games at the big table, cooking delicious food, and boating and paddle-boarding on the lake (we rented a pontoon, which was also great!). Can't wait to head back next summer!
We loved the house! I do wish there were a weed-free place for swimming but no beach was disclosed prior to booking. There was a water issue, flooding one bedroom and the lower level entryway which was temporarily taken care of while we were there. The negatives were that the house was not clean, there was a moldy wall in one bedroom that did not happen overnight. Some of the small appliances were actually moldy too.The floors needed to be swept and there were only 6 towels for 10 of us. We paid a high cleaning fee and had to clean when we got there.
This is the second time we have stayed at this property, and it was even better than the first time. The location on the lake is wonderful (don't have to go into the big water to enjoy the lake or get into town), and it has everything you need for a fun, relaxing vacation. Next best thing to owning a lake home!
WE REALLY ENJOYED OUR STAY AT THE CABIN AND BUNK HOUSE. VERY NICE HOUSE AND LOVED THE SECLUSION. THE LAKE WAS BEAUTIFUL HAD LOTS OF FUN SWIMMING. SCREENED IN PORCH WAS GREAT. HAD A GREAT TIME. THANK YOU
This property was everything we could ask for- space for everyone. The water toys were appreciated. The kitchen area was very nice. Boat dock was so nice- the littles fished there and caught some. The bedroom spaces were awesome.
Third summer we have stayed here for a week. Love the place. The bunkhouse fits our 6 teenage boys to a T! Plenty to do with the lake right there. We hope to come back again some day! There are 12 of us and there is plenty of room for eating, watching a movie or playing games.😀
The property was great, the house was as advertised, the grandchildren loved staying in the bunkhouse. The yard was good sized, fire pit area was great for evening fires and smores, there was plenty of space for parking the vehicles and boat trailers. Woman Lake is a beautiful lake with plenty of loons and eagles to watch, great for swimming and tubing, and the fishing wasn't bad either. I would recomend this property.
We stayed with a multigenerational group and it was a wonderful set up for our needs. The screen porch was the most used room in the house! We also appreciated being able to use the AC as needed on very hot days. The swim raft was great for our older kids, but there wasn't a great place for the 3 year old to swim. The 2 fridges were very appreciated as well. It was a wonderful stay and we would highly recommend this property!
12 of our family of 13 joined us for a week at this beautiful property. One adult son was traveling on business so could not make it but hoping to join us next summer since we already reserved for 2026! We have been taking our family for a week “Up North” for 14 years. This was our first week at this property and all agree this is our favorite for this stage of our lives. Ages range for 3-70. Great fishing for younger kids right from dock and walleye, northern, bass, crappies in our bay and around the chain of lakes. Kayaking was amazing and kids had a blast on the swimming raft. The lakehome was exactly as described. Gave our families their own space plus plenty room for all as a group together…meals, games, campfire, deck, screened porch, outdoor running space. We have our own boat but pontoon was on site, available to rent. Longville is a quick 4 mile drive by car or about 10 minutes by boat. “ Woodpile” is a fun place to eat in Longville. Lake views from every room! Dan promptly answered any questions we had. We look forward to our next visit! Wonderful Northern Minnesota experience!
The cabin was beautiful and suited our family of 11 well. There were enough beds for everyone. It is in a beautiful setting. The lawn down to the lake is steeper than in the photographs. The screened in porch was a favorite place for us to hang out. The fire pit was nice and easy to use. There were plenty of chairs for our family to use on the property. During our stay there was a storm that caused the electricity to go out for 2 days. We contacted the host and let him know there had been a storm. We informed him that the electricity went out and that there were tree limbs and branches down. They let the electric company know. We asked about a generator and it was stated that they might be able to get one from a family member. We never heard anything again regarding a generator. We had to find our own generator so that we wouldn't lose 2 refrigerators full of food. Because the electricity went out, we also had to haul water up from the lake in order to use toilets. There were no pails to use. We fully understand that weather and unforeseen conditions cannot be controlled by anyone, but unfortunately our stay was impacted by everything that we had to handle ourselves with little help from the host.

Judy,
I do apologize that there was a storm durning your stay. As you mentioned, we cannot control the weather. This is a cabin in Northern, MN and we do not live near the cabin. I did offer you a FULL refund for the remaining days if you had wanted to leave because I could tell how frustrated you were and the enjoyment for Northern, MN was gone. Also, I gave you a $300.00 discount towards the generator that you rented.
People reading your review should know that you sent me a text that said "I am going to leave a review now, I think $300 is a slap in the face."
Thank You,
Daniel Geis
Our family of 13 had a terrific time in this beautiful lake home. The property is much more than the photos convey! Dan was very responsive to all my questions before and during our stay. Our family had eight adults and five small children ranging in age from 2 - 5. The bunk house was great for my son's family allowing his little ones a separate place to nap in the afternoons. It has a full bath for easy showering and a washer and dryer. There are nice shelves in the bunk room for storing personal belongings and the air conditioning system is very effective. The main house has two bedrooms in the lower level and one bedroom on the main level, all with ample storage space. There are bathrooms with showers on both levels making shower time efficient. There is a great family room in the lower level with a comfortable pull-out bed, a television and a table and chairs for activities. This space was also away from the main activity and worked nicely as a napping area for our daughter's children as well as a work space for one of my sons when he had to take care of work responsibilities during the week. The main living space is wonderful! The kitchen/dining/living area is an open space with vaulted ceilings and fantastic light and air flow. There is a loft above the main sitting area which the kids loved for reading stories and chilling out. The stone fireplace is a beautiful centerpiece to the living space. The kitchen is well-stocked with all of the essentials and many extras. Staples are provided (sugar, flour, cooking oil/spray, basic spices, etc.) and the appliances are wonderful. The refrigerator/freezer was huge and worked well for our large group.
Our favorite part of the house was the fabulous deck and screened-in porch! We ate almost all of our meals outside in this large space and spent a good portion of our our day there doing a variety of activities. There is an additional deck outside the master bedroom, and this was delightful for reading and enjoying quiet time in the morning and afternoon.
A paddleboat and two kayaks were a lot of fun and helpful for shuttling little people back and forth to the lily pad. The young ones enjoyed catching pan-fish off the dock. The DNR land surrounding the house is full of wildlife. The long driveway to a nearby pond made a great morning walk/bike ride. There is a great firepit for making music, marshmallows and memories. This is a fantastic property! I highly recommend it to families of all ages!!
The cabin and bunkhouse were both beautiful. We attended our daughter’s wedding across the lake so didn’t spend very much time at the cabin. We did enjoy the screen porch in the evenings. Gorgeous view of the lake!
