The cabin had a great set up, with plenty of room for everyone in our group. Easy access to the lake from the property for ice fishing. The rec room was a big hit and had many games to play. Hosts were wonderful and communication was seamless.
Very unique property - a lot of family history - best game room I’ve been in. Love the lake and the cabin location makes for protected boat docking. One of the clearest lakes in MN.Everyone in our party loved the place. The hosts were very friendly and accommodating.
Char and Steve were more than accommodating for our stay and made sure every one of our needs were met even though we don’t have many needs or asks. Stay was quiet, beds were comfy, and everyone in our family group said they had a great time. Would recommend, and thanks again for the stay!
This is our 2nd time staying here and it was amazing there was something for everyone to do fishing, shopping and games love the area and the house.

Fantastic place for larger families!
The porch, the huge table and the fire pit were absolutely perfect for making memories! We loved boating and fishing on the lake, the turtle races and our visit to Itasca was also highlights. Char and Steve really have created a true haven and we feel lucky to have had a chance to stay in their lake place.

Tanya and family,
We are so happy your family vacation went well and that you enjoyed our home and beautiful lake. Again, we so appreciated how neat and clean you left everything!
Steve and Charlotte
The house was large enough for all 11 of us, and we really enjoyed the front porch. The pontoon boat was wonderful. We really liked Doolin's- it was fun for the entire family, and allowed family members to stay up when little ones were sleeping. Longville is close and has many things to do.
Property was beyond my expectations. Clean and well kept. Beautiful flowers. Good fishing!

Great family reunion spot!
My siblings and spouses stayed here for a 3 day get together. We loved it! Steve and Char were great to work with and very accommodating. The house was perfect for the 10 of us- large living room and kitchen. The yard was beautiful and large enough for many yard games. We enjoyed the pontoon rides. We all want to come back again!

Thank you for your nice review, and we hope you will be able to duplicate the fun you all had very soon!

Had a little glitch with VRBO notifications getting to Steve and Char, but they really went above and beyond to make sure everything was right. Had a great time, made good use of Doolins. Wonderful time again this year, amazing hosts!
We have been doing family vacations for 10 people for several years now and this place has been the best, hands down. Steve and Charlotte are great communicators so nothing to worry about there. Their home really has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Be sure to review the listing completely and message them with questions, as you can certainly lighten your load when packing. We hope to be back next year!! Oh, and the Blackstone griddle, I am now a huge fan and looking to get one myself.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Steve & Char’s place. Plenty of room for our group of 11-house has EVERYTHING you could want and then some. Nice to sit all together at one table for meals and the enormous screened porch was the perfect spot for morning coffee. Access to the pontoon/kayaks/canoe was a real bonus. Owners were on top of everything and responded within minutes. Would go back in a heartbeat and highly recommend.
Had a great week on Girl Lake! Everything was perfect for our large family with little ones as well.
The only downside was there is no swimming at the shoreline, however for us - having the pontoon for use made up for that since we went out several times a day to cruise the lake and float and jump in.
Home now and we all miss our time at the lake!
This is a beautiful property with a wonderful screen porch overlooking a beautiful yard and the lake beyond.
Lots of activities-yard games, pontooning, kayaking, paddle boating, hunting for frogs and the rec room was a fun place to be in the evening away from mosquitoes.
Would have liked more counter space for preparing meals for 11, but we managed.
It was nice being close to town when we ran out of something and the turtle races were very fun for the whole family!
All was good. Had a little plumbing issue, but was fixed immediately. Didn't get on the water as much as we liked due to the weather, but found things to do. 2 black bears crossed the road in front of of us as we drove from town. A little scary. All enjoyed the game house. A lot of space which was great for our family.

Cabin at Girl Lake
Char and Steve have a charming cabin and it is a great "gathering" place for larger families. We had an enjoyable vacation week. However, the owner was on the property 2 to 3 times a day with various reasons on why he was there. We got the impression we were being checked on. We have rented through VRBO for several years and this was the first time we have had this experience.

Ray and Marilyn, thank you for taking the time to write a review. We are terribly sorry you feel we were checking up on you, absolutely not our intention. As you know, we needed to work on fixing the pontoon motor and could only do that by coming over to work on it and eventually picking it up and dropping it off. We are pleased you had a fun week with your family and celebrating Marilyn’s birthday!

Spacious and Comfortable! Great views!
Our family is a veteran "lake" family. We have been traveling up North for years. Our stay this summer at Char and Steve's lovely home was truly enjoyable. We made use of the screened in porch, the "play" room, and the fire ring. The large friendly kitchen was the scene of great meals and many discussions. The pontoon found it ways to the sand bars and several trips across the lake. So thanks Char and Steve!

Everything was exactly as expected during our trip. There was room for everyone and plenty of things for all ages to do. We have a lot of people who fish in our family and the lakes did not disappoint!! “Doolins” was a highlight for both young and old. We went there every night to play and have a pizza. The property is beautiful. We enjoyed the fire pit nightly as well. The town of Longville has all you need between the grocery, pharmacy and bottle shop. 10 out of 10! Charlotte and Steve were very helpful and took care of all of our needs. We hope to return. Thank you💙

Sandra, we are so happy you enjoyed your family time together at the lake. Family time is so special.

My husband and I have been taking our family to various VRBO lake homes, for a week, the past 14 years. Our family has grown over the years and this beautiful “Family Lodge” on the lake was wonderful! We felt like we had our own private park, Northern Minnesota lodge and recreation center, easy lake access with private dock for our boat and use of the owner’s pontoon which gave our family of 13 options for all. Even had 2 nights of Northern Lights, 1 rainbow and multiple daily enjoyment of watching the resident hummingbirds. We definitely would recommend this wonderful home and property for your Northern Minnesota experience. Thank you for sharing your lovely home Charlotte and Steve !

10 in our group. I am 75 and appreciated the main floor bedroom with attached bathroom. Bed very high so I used a step stool to enable me to get on top of the bed. Those who slept in the bunk room wished there was some privacy for that room—no door or curtain. Beds comfortable. Loved the large screened in porch, pontoon, and separate game room which was used every evening. Lots of stairs going up to game room so can be a little difficult for elderly with knee problems.
12 of us, 4 generations. Plenty of room for all. Did not utilize the neat bar as to far from house and to many steps for grandma. I know cleaning company does not do dishes, but pulled a lot of dirty ones out of cupboard. Started judt washing whatever we needed to use. Overall cleanliness good, but some dusty areas(fan blades) allergies kinda kicked in. Would definitely recomend this place to others. Great time! Thank you.

Great time on Girl Lake
The large space, especially in the dining area off the kitchen was terrific. The entire family could gather for meals and board games, and ultimately that is what are trips are about. Beds were very comfortable. Lots of cooking and dining equipment was very nice. The decor was fun. The Longville area is great. We like to hike and bike, and there are lots miles of well-maintained hiking and biking trails close by. The pontoon is a great addition. In our case it was rainy and cool most days so unfortunately we were unable to use it as much as we would have liked. The only issue of concern at the cabin was the shortage of hot water near the end of the trip for showers.

Ed, thank you for your review. We are very happy your family had an enjoyable time at our lake home! Fall can be a beautiful season, unfortunately you did have a few days rain days. Our off peak heating of our 100 gallon hot water tank can handle most large groups any time of day but when multiple long showers, laundry and dishwashing happens during daytime hours, it can rarely run out. Thank you for your understanding.

Great Property
Our extended family of seven enjoyed our one week stay. Upon arrival, Char and Steve spent over an hour giving us a tour of the property.
The kitchen is well stocked with everything need for cooking full meals. There are televisions in almost every room. I didn't count but there must be hundreds of DVDs for entertainment of rainy days. Lots of interesting thinks to look at including mounted fish, photos and knicknacks.
The game room is very interesting and complete with bar, game table, foosball and pool table. The large and flat yard is perfect for playing bocce ball and has a great variety of plants and flowers. There is a nice fire pit and there is plenty of fire wood provided.
This property was plenty large for our small family. It can easily accommodate a much larger group.
