This cottage is located on the Greeter Falls Lodge property, which is 1 mile from the trailhead to Greeter Falls
Our cottages are modern with all the amenities that you need including linens, towels, coffee and full kitchen.
In addition, there are many places to fish, kayak, explore and more within a few miles of our place.
A great place to stay while attending concerts at the Cavern or other events nearby.
Please note that this cottage is ready to be rented, but is on a shared property with where the Greeter Falls Lodge used to be. The lodge was lost in a tragic fire in January and cleanup has already begun. For now, there are still some remains where that building stood nearby.
Important Note: Ladybugs are very common in our region. Certain times a year we do experience some ladybugs inside of homes. Please know that all lady bugs are removed by housekeepers during the cleaning process, but are likely to be back quite quickly in large quantities.
Our prices include all fees. No hidden fees.

What a great cottage!!! It was clean and cozy! We only stayed one night but we got up early and visited Greeter Falls waterfall, which is about 1.5 miles away. My family decided we need to take a trip back here to explore the area more!
Property was fantastic with great sea views! Everything about rental exceeded our expectations with great communication from start to finish. Accommodation was clean, comfortable and very well stocked. Welcome basket was a lovely touch!
This location was a great choice to stay for me and my dog. We enjoyed the quiet seclusion and the close proximity to many parks for trail hiking and sight seeing. Thank you for the hospitality
If you are in the area for say a concert at the cavern’s or just doing some hiking or outdoors activities, this place is perfect. Small full kitchen, most everything you need at your disposal. The place was clean and well maintained. Loved our stay!
This was our 3rd time staying here. Comfortable bed and furniture. Excellent WiFi. Good heat and air conditioning. Only caveat was cleaning crew missed the toaster oven and the main oven. Everything else was very clean.
This cabin has everything you need & is comfy & cozy. It’s a great location for hiking at Savage Gulf. Close enough to the Caverns for a beautiful night of music under the stars.
The hosts were lovely and kind AND gave us a great recommendation for dinner (Hank's Place) and the cabin itself was very nicely decorated (loved the cow painting over the bed!) It was very clean and had comfortable beds. Although we did not cook, we noticed that the kitchen was well stocked. It was off the beaten track but if you are going hiking or want quiet peaceful surroundings--perfect!
Just a minute away from Greeter Falls, this little place was perfect for our stay in the area. We visited Greeter, Foster and Savage Falls while in Altamont. We drove to Monteagle to eat, and everything was easily reachable and accessible. The rental had everything we needed for coffee and cooking supper while there. Nice, clean and well stocked! Thank you so much!
This was the perfect get-away for a serene and relaxed environment. All expectations were met and then some. We highly recommend this property as it was in pristine condition. The Host (Mr. Gray) was more than happy to assist with any needs. Go on down to Altamont, TN and enjoy the hospitality.
PS: dinner table’s chairs need pillows. (Made for those who want to eat and RUN).
A friend and I took a day-cation to visit Greeter Falls. The cottage was just minutes from the trailhead, and the waterfall did not disappoint! The hike was easy/moderate, the rock formations were spectacular, and the water was a crystal clear bluish-green that you don’t typically see in Tennessee!
We drove up early for the hike, drove into Monteagle for a early dinner at Mountain Goat Market which had phenomenal food (sandwiches, desserts, and a cute gift shop), and then headed to the cottage to relax for the night before heading home the next morning
The cottage was perfect. Easy to find. Very modern. Extremely clean. The kitchen was well-stocked. The bathroom was generously stocked with all your needs (just bring your toothbrush and toothpaste). And the beds were comfortable. It will comfortably sleep four. There’s a queen bed in the bedroom and bunks just outside the door by the bathroom. Each bunk has a reading light and up-to-date plugs the have usb charger ports.
I highly recommend the cottage! And communication with Joe was simple and seamless.

About the host

The Gray family has lived in middle Tennessee since the late 1700's. My parents retired to the mountain (Moffitt Manor in Altamont) in 1990, and we have loved the area ever since. Dawn and I have 2 daughters and 3 grand kids who call us Bunny and Joey. We hope to retire in the area in the coming years.
Why they chose this property
Dr. Joe Gray became familiar with Grundy county while preaching at Bybee’s Branch Church of Christ in the 1950’s. He held many gospel meetings in the area and became familiar with many of the folks, including Fanny Moffitt and other members of the Northcutt family.
The Moffitt Manor in Altamont was built in 1885 by the Northcutt family and was made famous by Fanny Moffitt. My parents purchased this house in the 1980's and lived there for almost 30 years.
The lodge property has such a wonderful history. The lodge was built in 1954 and was a window factory, building supplier, and feed store owned by 3 brothers of the Northcutt family (Northcutt Brothers Building Supply). Originally, the Northcutt family had a large sawmill, home place, barns and chicken house on this property as well. Some of these buildings survive while others have not. The Northcutt's have been a prominent family in Grundy county for many generations.
My father purchased the lodge in the 1990s and used it to store antiques and more. After he passed away, we began restoring it for a family retreat. We decided to share with others and have been working on it since 2019.
We love the history of the area and the properties we have been involved with in the past 3 decades or so. We love the many friends we have made and continue to make most of all.
What makes this property unique
When finished in summer/fall 2021, the indoor common area can be rented separately and has a large dining area for up to 40, 3 separate living/recreation rooms, a large kitchen and 2 half baths. This is a wonderful place for gatherings of family, church, weddings, corporate, friends and all types of groups. This is in addition to 7 living units which are available individually.
