This property should not be listed on VRBO

This property is a disaster. There is black mold or mildew present on the family room ceiling. No working smoke detectors - there's a mount for one on the main floor but no smoke detector and no battery in the smoke detector at the lower entry. Evidence of termites - visible termite droppings, soft spots in the floors, and you can actually hear the termites at night. A missing electrical fixture in the bathroom with exposed wiring. The dryer is incredibly loud, and the vent is broken, delivering hot air directly into the kitchen. During our stay, there was a crew conducting a soil test, which is typically done prior to construction or significant remodeling. I'm assuming the owner is going to demo and build new and not spend on repairs to the current property. It's a great location but an awful property that should not be listed for rent anywhere.

Close to the beach

Close to the beach, cute place. We enjoyed the covered outdoor space, and short walk to the beach. And they let us use the pack n play for the baby.

Unfortunate

Scary. No curb appeal. The street in general was unkept and unattractive. The interior looked nice on the website, however we never saw it in person. Red Tide was so bad we began coughing when we reached the bridge over to Coquino Beach and it only got worse after that. We drove to the property and spoke to Stephan who couldn't care less about his patrons suffering the affects of Red Tide. We decided we wouldn't be staying beause we didn't want to stay inside for the 4 days we were scheduled to stay on Anna Maria Island. We tried to negotiate with Stephan for a lesser amount that would somewhat satisfy us both. He basically said "too bad". We used to rent out our ocean front property in Maryland and found that the best way to get good return rentors was to be fair. Needless to say we will never be back to Stephan's property. We left the Island $1500 poorer and a bad taste for the likes of Stephan.
