Thank you Cara for this amazing review. We are happy you enjoyed your stay with us! Kind regards, Villagoona team
From the moment we walked in at Villagoona, we felt at home! This is hands-down the best vacation rental we have stayed at. We spent most of our time outside, enjoying both the pool and lanai, which are even better than in the pictures. We fished every day, and caught snapper, jack, and other fish! Communications with the host Ruth and caretaker Steve were fantastic. We had everything we needed for our stay both inside and out, including bikes, pool toys and floats, fishing rods, and all the things needed for a beach day! It was hard to leave, and we will definitely be back. Book this home, you won't regret it!
The house is spacious and clean. The outdoor living space is amazing. The manager was supposed to meet us the day after arrival at 10 am so we planned our activities around this meet and greet. At 10:15 I called him and he said he would be late because he was fixing breakfast for his family. He arrived at 12 pm. Frustrating for sure! After the manager checked us in, the manager was responsive when questions were asked or issues came about. Be sure to read the house rules and agreement carefully before you reserve. I missed that I was going to have to pay for electricity above 50 kw/day. There are a lot of rules! Also the processing fee was higher than the actual charge. Although there were issues with the pool draining 11000 gals of water and not usable for 2 days we were not responsible to heat the pool after refilling. The hot tub was usable during this time period. I did find some dead palmetto bugs on the floor which indicates the house is treated for bugs. South Florida is known for these bugs so I wasn’t concerned. This is a “smart” home with cameras, ring door bell and a WiFi enabled refrigerator. Owners claim it is for insurance purposes and to observe the electricity, hot tub and pool controls. The owners were reasonable. First time I stayed in a place with so many rules and paying for electricity. I will be more careful next time I rent a place.
Wonderful house and a good location. The pool area outside was the best part of this house but overall it was an amazing house and a relaxing stay. The house is owned by out of the country owners but the local host was responsive and available. The only issue with the house was the cameras located in the pool area that gave a sense of intrusion on our families privacy. I certainly understand the need for security especially when the house is not occupied but the fixed cameras all around the back of the house and covering parts of the pool should be turned off or removed when guests are in the house. These cameras can pick up conversations and also allow whoever has access to simply monitor whenever they want. Just not the vibe you want on vacation. I have ring cameras at my house and they pick up all kinds of things that aren’t necessarily intended. But other than this the house was amazing close to great restaurants and a quiet neighborhood. The pool was amazing and where we spent most of our time!

Thank you so much for your kind words about our home and for highlighting how much you enjoyed the pool area and the overall stay. We’re glad you found the location relaxing and convenient as well.
We truly understand your concern about the cameras. To clarify, all of our cameras are located around the outside of the property, with the exception of one security camera in the patio area. This particular camera is installed by our professional security provider (ADT) and was required by our insurance company. Unlike consumer cameras such as Ring, these cameras do not record or listen to conversations – they are strictly for property security.
We want all of our guests to feel comfortable and safe, which is why these measures are in place. It’s similar to how hotels often have cameras in shared areas, such as pool decks, for security reasons. That said, we take your feedback seriously and will continue to review how we balance guest privacy with security requirements.
We’re so pleased you had a wonderful stay overall and enjoyed your time by the pool. We’d be delighted to welcome you back anytime!
This was the perfect location for us. The house had all the amenities we could have asked for. Our trip was a long weekend stay with myself, my wife, my sister and my bother in law. The house was the perfect size for us. The pool was wonderful.
We were able to rent a boat for the day and I was easily able to navigate to the house by water to pick everyone up. Pulling up to the dock was easy (we did not use the lift, but there is room to dock a 20' pontoon boat even without using the lift).
Ruth was the host, and did a fantastic job and was gracious even when we accidentally set of the smoke detector while cooking some bacon. We were quite embarrassed by the ordeal but she handled the situation and we never felt that she was angry, simply concerned if we were okay.
The appliances were top notch. The microwave had a "ice cream softening mode"! What microwave does that?!
All in all, it was great. I would certainly recommend this location to others. Do not hesitate!
I have a some concerns with this property. First off the home was very clean and beautiful and the pool area was just as pretty as the pictures. I felt very uncomfortable the entire stay though. Nothing was listed in the agreement that we would have to do a in person introduction with the home manager. I have booked through VRBO for years and have never experienced this. It was very inconvenient due to the fact it was the next day and we couldn't really plan anything because we had to wait on him to arrive. He did ask what time would be best for us and when I told him 11 that morning he then responded back he would be there at 10. I had to get my husband to then call him and tell him we had been driving 8 hours and don't want to meet at 10... we wanted to sleep in some. He was nice but it was uncomfortable. We also noticed they have an extreme amount of cameras on the front of the house and the back. When we asked the property manager why so many cameras pointing at the entire house all the way around, he stated it was because they had instances in the past with neighbor issues. As the trip went on we noticed they were watching us during our stay. The home owner or manager, not sure which, texted my husband asking if we could move the kayak the boys had taken out to later use. It was obvious they were watching us through the cameras the entire time. I didn't even want to swim because of that. They also asked whos boat was on the property, so I knew then they were watching.

Thanks for your review. We are a little bit surprised by some points mentioned in your review, as your husband has confirmed via text message that you had a great time and nothing to complain about your stay.
With regards to you feeling “uncomfortable the entire stay” and that “nothing was listed in the agreement that we would have to do a in person introduction with the home manager”, this is simply not accurate. This is a big house with many features and to welcome our guests ensuring they have no questions on appliances, our property manager does a mandatory check-in (as is in all vacation rentals I stayed in). You were informed about this, as we are asking our guests what time they are arriving and wanted to be checked-in, to ensure our property manager is there to welcome you. On the form you have signed yourself, you stated that you would like a check in upon arrival time at 3:30 pm. Our property manager was at the property waiting for you until 4.15 pm, yet you have not showed up before 4.30 pm and did not think it might be useful to give our property manager a call that you will be late for check-in. His phone number amongst other instructions, such as access code to the house, were on your welcome letter. Since our property manager had to come over a 2nd time to perform the check-in because you have not informed him of your delay, we were charged in addition – a fee we have paid and not asked for a reimbursement from you, though the additional cost is due to your miscommunication.
You mentioned the cameras around the house – these are required by our insurance company and are also in place to protect our property. The cameras are installed outside and only record clips if e.g. guests are accessing restricted areas (as is the area around the pool equipment). The clip you mentioned was recorded because you have accessed this area although access is prohibited by guests without asking. The area is restricted due to sensitive equipment for the pool and the A/C (amongst others). We have stored our kayaks there to keep them safely stored away from e.g. heavy wind gusts the day before your arrival. One of your guests accessed this locked area and took out one kayak, leaving them unattended on the lawn, despite the risk of a heavy thunder storm with high wind gusts. By asking you to store them safely in another area, we are protecting our property while ensuring that future guests will be able to use those kayaks as well.
While speaking about our property and not following the house rules you have accepted by signing our agreements, you have placed a boat trailer on the driveway which is forbidden and if we receive a fine for this, we will bill it to you. There is dedicated parking for boat trailers, an information we could have given you, if you had given this information although requested. Coming with the boat trailer, you have brought your boat in, an information also not given prior to checking in. The maximum capacity of the house is 8 guests and we need to ensure this for our insurance company, needing to know who is at our property at all times during the stay to ensure undiminished coverage. You have decided to invite more than 8 guests to our property, leaving not only us, but also your guests at risk with regards to insurance.
Next to damages in the house, such as nail polish on the newly purchased blanket, also broken kayak paddle etc., our cleaning team charged us in addition to the normal cleaning fee, as the house was excessively dirty after your stay. I hope you do understand that the above mentioned violation of our house rules do make us uncomfortable too. We have decided not to charge you any of the extra fee incurred after your stay, but felt a public response to your review is adequate.
My family and I stayed for the 4th of July holiday. The picture on Vrbo do no Justice to the beauty of the home and all the fun features they have to offer. My children and grandchildren had a lot of fun with the pool, and the game room. I would recommend this home to anyone. Mike, the property manager was very helpful and friendly.
Amazing house on canal with unbelievable pool and a view
Great house. I have never rented a house that was so clean. Very spacious and had everything you needed. The pool and hot tub were amazing. That infinity view overlooking the canal has to be seen to believe. Steve the property manager was wonderful. Very helpful and reachable within minutes. Definitely would stay at this house again. Location is great. Wonderful restaurants within minutes
Our group of 3 adults, 3 children and a baby fit perfectly in this beautiful home. The kids thoroughly enjoyed the pool and my 3 year old grandson learned to swim during our 5 day stay.
This home was clean and the space was wonderful! It was clean and had all the needed items for a week away. The pool area was great, we had so much fun swimming and relaxing by the pool. Location was easy to find! We would definitely stay here again.
The house its self was perfect for 4 people, the back yard pool jacuzzi area was amazing.. the location was also very convenient
the mgr was readily available... the jacuzzi ....along with the app
put written instuctions on how to turn on somewhere outside
House was large and very comfortable. The pool was perfect. First experience with saltwater. Surpassed expectations. House provides everything you will need (except food). If you are staying longer than a day or two you may want to bring paper towels, paper plates and preferred soaps for bathrooms, kitchen and laundry. Host and property manager were responsive and helpful.I will consider rebooking in the future.
This property was not as described. The were roaches (dead and alive) broken door handles, broken blinds, the pool water features did not work. The pool table was held up with cardboard, holes in the walls, and they charge extra for electricity.
The place was clean and had everything we needed. The family enjoyed the time at the swimming pool and the kayaks.

The overall property was very nice however, a couple things could have made it a little bit better! There was several cockroaches both alive and dead. The hot tub didn't work until the 5th day of stay, then it was hit or miss. The ceiling fans have a thick layer of dust so turning them on was not an option for us!
