About this property

Cozy Secluded Cabin with Views & Hot Tub

The May Queen Cabin sits atop 6 acres of aspen & pine forest, providing views of the Sangre de Cristo mountains.  Each morning you can see “purple mountain’s majesty" from the deck. This 3-bed, 3-bath cabin is 7.5 miles from Cripple Creek and offers access to sites like Colorado Springs, Garden of the Gods, Air Force Academy, Royal Gorge, and much more. Spread out between the 2 separate living areas and enjoy amenities like a full kitchen, wood-burning stove, Foosball table, and hot tub!  Master Bedroom: King Bed | Bedroom 2 (Bear Room): Queen Bed | Bedroom 3 (Deer Room): Queen Bed | Living Room: Sleeper Sofa  Stunning scenery and a sense of seclusion welcome you to this private, handicap-accessible Cripple Creek cabin - off the beaten path.  The main living room is highlighted by a wood-burning stove, ample natural light, two flat-screen TVs, and a large pass-through window looking into the fully equipped kitchen. Utilize all the essential appliances, kitchenware, tile countertops, and more to meal prep for the group throughout your stay.  This property is also handicapped accessible with no steps from parking, wide hallways, a roll-in shower and grab bars for those with limited mobility.  During your leisure hours, enjoy the outdoors and take in the views and wildlife from your private deck, kick back and relax on the porch swing, or sink into the hot tub waters and unwind.  The May Queen Cabin is a perfect getaway no matter what the season. During the summer, cooler mountain temps provide an oasis from the heat. In the fall the colors change and it continues to be a great base camp for outdoor adventurers. It's a spectacular winter wonderland and always a great place to bring the family for holidays as well as special occasions.  Sunsets are spectacular year-round, and when the stars come out, with the altitude, and clear mountain air, you’ll be treated to the best stargazing you’ve ever seen. Meteor showers are also visible here - a once in a lifetime experience from the hot tub or deck. John Denver wrote, “I’ve seen it raining fire in the sky” in “Rocky Mountain High” after witnessing the yearly Perseid meteor shower. THE LOCATION CASINOS: Bronco Billy’s Casino (7.5 miles), Wildwood Casino (8.1 miles), Triple Crown Casinos (7.5 miles), Colorado Grande Casino (7.6 miles) EVENTS: Ice Festival, Donkey Derby Days, Big Aspen Fall Festival, Meteor Showers (year-round) ATTRACTIONS: Cripple Creek Mining District (7.8 miles), Colorado Wolf & Wildlife Center (16.7 miles), Pikes Peak (54.9 miles), Cave of the Winds (40.3 miles), Garden of the Gods (44.4 miles), Old Colorado City (43.3 miles), Air Force Academy (60.0 miles), Arkansas White Water Rafting (43.5 miles), Royal Gorge (43.3 miles), Breckenridge Resort (87.4 miles) AIRPORT: Colorado Springs Airport (31 miles)  Denver DIA Airport( 130 miles)  The last couple of miles to the cabin you'll be on county maintained gravel winding roads that are steep in spots. We highly recommend 4 wheel or all-wheel drive from September-May due to the possibility of snow.

Cabin in the mountains
The cabin was great with lots of room for the 6 of us. Beds were comfortable and I loved the Keurig coffee pot. The hot tub was already warm and waiting for us. We would definitely stay there again

Phenomenal Property and Location
This cabin is perfectly located for a base camp for outdoor adventures including hiking, fly fishing, and ATV riding. We also enjoyed the towns of Cripple Creek and Victor, which are short drives away. This cabin comes exactly as advertised and was wonderful. The Owners are easy to communicate with and are super helpful!

Great location in the mountains!
We were so happy with this rental cabin. We took our daughter's family for a vacation in the mountains and it was perfect for our group. We were so impressed with how well stocked it was. Have never stayed in a rental that had such a well stocked kitchen...such a luxury to not have to buy extra spices or worry about paper towels and dishwasher detergent. There was an empty hummingbird feeder on the deck so I made food with the sugar in the kitchen and we were rewarded with a hummingbird show all week. Although we bought laundry detergent we wouldn't have had to. Looks like everyone leaves what they bring there. The kids were impressed with all the games and crafts and we kept jigsaw puzzles going the whole week. It was a short drive to Cripple Creek and the fireworks on the 4th of July were wonderful. Although it took 45 min to an hour to get to Manitou and a few other attractions we really liked being "out of town" and the views were wonderful! Thanks for a wonderful stay, hope to be back!

About the host

Host profile image
I've been in the hospitality business most of my life, so vacation rentals are a natural for me. It's like having a little hotel or bed & breakfast. These rentals are going to help us through our retirement. And they are a lot of fun. We love making people happy, and we strive to do it so well that you'll want to come back, and bring your friends.

Why they chose this property

We used to bring our daughter and then our grandkids to the PIkes Peak region for summer camps and always felt it would be a great place to retire to. Compared to heading west out of Denver where we currently live, the drive here is so much easier. Teller County has a little bit milder winters than the rest of the state; in fact it's called the banana belt by the weather forecasters. Plus there is so much to do here for when all the relatives want to visit Colorado.

What makes this property unique

We first viewed this home in early summer at sunset, so the mountains still had plenty of snow, and that night was one of those bright orange and blue stunners. We couldn't write the contract fast enough.
We had a great time decorating this unique property with Colorado art, photos and artifacts from local artists. Many personal items, especially all the kitchen items makes it feel like home for us, and we have lots of good memories here.
