500 Acres of beautiful Solitude. It’s like being in a National Park without tourists. We have Water, water, water, every where water. Our Creek is Spring fed and runs through the center of the property for 1 3/4 miles. Wild Trout abound in the crystal clear water. Our Well water is delicious and abundant. Take long showers and enjoy the luxury of super clean, clear water. Once there, You will feel like you own your own ranch in the heart of the Old West.
This rental is a beautiful, unique and limited opportunity. Only one family or group will be able to take advantage of this offer at a time. It is like a Guest Ranch, but you have the place to yourself with solitude and privacy in a beautiful natural setting. Photographs just can not do it justice. There are spectacular views in all directions.
The ranch is in the heart of the Old West with numerous rivers and lakes nearby. It is 10 minutes North of downtown Mt. Shasta and 25 minutes South of Yreka. The McCloud River: 45 minutes, The Upper Sacramento: 15 minutes, The Klamath (45 min.), the Trinity River (45 min.),the Pit River and Hat Creek (about one hour). Our on-site ponds abound in trout. If you ever dreamed of helping your child catch a trout, this is the place to make real, that fantasy! The fishing is usually unsurpassed. To protect and preserve the Trout, only Barbless Flys are allowed in the ponds. It's a Catch and Release venue.
While extremely private, the ranch is less than five minutes from the city of Weed and 10 minutes from Mount Shasta City. Interstate 5 is 5 minutes away and the Weed airport is 10 minutes away.
The City of Weed has Tesla Super Chargers and the Ranch has Outdoor 240 Volt (14-50 NEMA fifty Amp) and 120 Volt Sockets for charging your Electric Vehicle.
If you want a secluded, and beautiful home base from which to explore Northern California and Southern Oregon this is an excellent venue.
The house lies at the end of a mile long, unpaved private country road. This secluded mountain site provides spectacular 360 degree views. I often sit outside with a cup of tea or a cold drink and watch the views and wildlife. Time seems to stand still. If you are an artist or bird watcher you will be captivated. The lighting is fantastic.
A small horse and cattle operation is run by a local cowboy who was also an officer of the law in town. His occasional presence on the range will help guard your privacy and will add a layer of security. Tim (ex Siskiyou County Sheriff) knows the area well and can provide excellent information about the regions extensive recreational opportunities.
There is one main bathroom and a Half Bath in the laundry room area.
With all of the water around, it is amazing that there are no Mosquitoes or other biting insects to speak of. Having stayed at places where bug spray was a necessity, I believe this is an issue every vacationer should look into before committing to a rental property. there is NO WiFi but cell phone reception is excellent for all Smart Phones and Tablets etc.
Tim, the Ranch Manager and Kelly, the House Keeper work hard to make your experience enjoyable. Please consider leaving them a Tip to express your appreciation.
Thank you, Bill Broadhead Owner

Fantastic week on the Ranch. We will definitely keep returning every chance we get. Cowboy Tim is a delight…very friendly and helpful and has great stories to share.
Property was beautiful. Lower pond was too hard to fish, as it was surrounded by cattails. Upper pond was very easy to fish. Views were incredible. We were very fortunate that all 3 nights no clouds or moon and we sat out and looked at the stars. Best part is we saw the Milky Way every night. Wildlife we saw deer, Skunk and fox. We will be back probably in warmer weather. : )
This is the perfect place for a large family group that want to be totally removed from the lights and noise of the city. It's an older farmhouse that's been updated with some very nice appointments. Our favorite, and most unexpected thing was the herd of cows grazing behind the house. They were part of a fantastic view of the mountain from the kitchen window where we tended to gather. We all loved it,
What a magical week we had at Broadhead Trout Ranch. From the privacy of having the entire 500 acres to yourself, to the bubbling brook surrounded by wildflowers and fresh mint, you will feel like you have stepped into a different world. If your soul needs peace, this is the place to be. Enjoy qu
The entry gate area was bleak, having been decimated by a fire a year prior, but once you got down the road the scene changed dramatically, with a lovely secluded ranch sitting above acres of meadows, some w cattle, some w hoses, and several ponds, there are beautiful views of the mountains to the west, and Mt Shasta to the south. I used it as a convenient access for day trips into the mountains, some still w snow, and scenic lakes with wildfl.
We all enjoyed our stay! The are has so much to offer but you don’t even need to leave the property, it has everything, the views, water, trees, fish, cows, horses and a great caretaker!
It’s a very special place, especially for those who want solitude and natural beauty. The house is a rustic farmhouse. The kitchen is new and very nice. The bedrooms are a mix of queen beds, bunk beds, and a small room with a full size (tight fit). The house is bigger than the two of us need, but the property is so beautiful it’s worth it to us. We do day excursions to surrounding sights, but mostly we hang out on the lawn by the small pond and creek and read, plus stare at the expansive view!
Best kept secret in Mount Shasta area! Property well-kept, clean, and comfortable. Convenient central location to various outdoor activities outlined by gracious host. Enjoyed weekend!
We LOVED this property, the ranch house is very comfortable and has everything you need. Our host Bill was great, he had great suggestions for activities and sight seeing. We enjoyed watching the 2 horses and the cattle meandering in the meadows just outside the ranch house. My wife and I with our 2 beagles spent 5 great days here, much of our time was spent on the ranch hiking and exploring the meadows, creeks, ponds and forests FANTASTIC VIEWS in every direction. There is so much to do in the area near the ranch, we made 2 trips to the end of the road up Mt Shasta (Old Ski Bowl trailhead). Castle lake was lovely and the McCloud River falls area is very beautiful, GREAT waterfalls, magical. We're planning our next stay now.Keith & Karla L

This place was so nice and relaxing! No neighbors. Gorgeous views! We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay! It was a decent farm house that accommodated our family nicely! We didnt even explore the whole property, and will definitely be back! We miss it already!!
Beautiful lands with views of Mt Shasta and surrounding areas. Enjoyed meandering around the meadows and by the ponds with our dog, and watching the cattle out back through the kitchen window. Comfortable house with board games and a nicely equipped kitchen; easy communication with the owner. Would definitely stay again.
We totally enjoyed our family getaway at this ranch house & acres. The house had everything we needed, including great views and quiet. We took many enjoyable walks to the ponds, the creek, and up the hill for a great view of the area and Mount Shasta. Many good memories were created!
We loved the ranch. It was so beautiful and quiet. My son in law enjoyed fishing the ponds while my other SIL and I went up to Mt Shasta and did some snowmobiling. The host was a great communicator as well. The dogs enjoyed running around the ranch as well. I would definitely stay here again.
Beautiful property and a working cattle ranch. Took the family and 2 grandkids. Fishing was a bit difficult, but lots of other fishing spots close by. We liked feeding the horses carrots. Cows were great to see all around. Ranch manager Tim was really helpful with tips. Nice ranch to hike all over.
We really loved our stay at the ranch. The privacy, activities, and fresh air was a perfect recipe for our family and dog. Our dog was miserable when we got back...he loved it up there so much! Our daughters loved petting the horses and watching the cattle...and we enjoyed walking all over the ranch. Will be back!

Thank you Kristian,I’ve heard this before about Dogs ( and People too): Post Ranch Depression Syndrome !Bill
Our family had a wonderful winter weekend at Broadhead Ranch. This is a truly exceptional VRBO experience and ranks at the top of our favorite family trips. The ranch is secluded and peaceful, yet remarkably close to town and freeway acess. We enjoyed frosty winter hikes, family game time around the wood burning stove, and daytrips to Mount Shasta and Scott Valley (try Five Marys Burgerhouse, it's great). We cannot wait to come back and experience a different season!
Amazing property, brand new country kitchen, dog heaven, super clean, sunsets and sunrises are world class here! Ponds & trails overgrown, outside is super rustic, we didn't care but a cleaner first impression/porch/trash & better pond/boat access would've made it a solid 5 star for all.

I’ve found you can’t please everybody. There are miles of clear open trails/ roads on the property, but the entire 500 acres isn’t trail groomed!
It's all good. A great place to relax, unwind, and leave the daily stress behind. Our host, Bill Broadhead, continues to be attentive to our needs on every visit. And Cowboy Tim is the best -- he never runs out of great stories to be told.
We always look forward to our next adventure at the Broadhead Trout Ranch.
Amazingly peaceful 500 acres with view of Mt Shasta
This property gave me the privacy and seclusion on 500 acres to really get in touch with nature, while enjoying amazing views of rolling hills and mountains. The home is spacious and has a quaint country ranch feel to it. I watched horses and cows grazing in the back, while sipping my coffee in the morning next to a beautiful pond by the house out front.
This land is truly magical, and I enjoyed every moment of my stay here.
The owner was also a pleasure to work with and was always available to answer any questions that I had.
I look forward to staying here again in the future.

I barely need to clean the place after he left.
About the host

To own a trout fishing property has always been my dream. I never expected to find such a perfect location. I am an engineering consultant and expert witness. The Residual job stress melts away with each day at the ranch. While I have traveled the world, no place is more relaxing than a stay here at the ranch. I am married with three kids. My family loves our ranch vacations. We live in Southern California in the mountains above Santa Barbara. In the winters we come to the ranch to ski and board at Mount Shasta Ski Park, less than 30 minutes away.
Why they chose this property
Siskiyou county is at the heart of one of the best fishing, hiking and biking areas in the world. The air is clean and the sky blue. This area still holds the flavor or the Old American West. The small town honesty and hospitality are reminiscent of the values upon which the country was founded. If you want to get away from the stress of everyday life this is the place.
What makes this property unique
Seclusion and solitude prevail in a natural setting with the convenience of a town and Interstate freeway nearby. Crater Lake, Lava Beds National Monument and numerous other natural wonders make convenient day trips. This ranch is perfect for the family that loves the natural outdoors but wants to sleep comfortably indoors. Nearby museums and antique stores reflect the mystique of our American frontier days. The nearby town of Weed was established as a logging town. Other nearby towns sprang up with the great California gold rush.
