Summary: Stunning, newly renovated condos nestled at the base of the sand dunes, offering the perfect blend of comfort and coastal charm. With the nearest public beach access just 0.8 miles down the street, enjoying the shoreline couldn’t be easier. Step inside to a fully equipped kitchen, then unwind on the front, rear, or side decks while your family explores the nearby dunes. The Space: Enjoy your private balcony complete with patio furniture, perfect for relaxing outdoors. A stackable washer and dryer is conveniently located in a closet on the deck for easy access. Just half a mile away (about a 15-minute walk), you'll find Pirates Beach, a great restaurant, and a pool—everything you need for the perfect island getaway!
Guest Access: You can take a scenic walk over the dunes to reach the water, though it's a bit far for carrying beach gear. The nearest public beach access is just 0.8 miles down the street for easy shoreline access. This unit is part of a four-plex building, offering a comfortable and convenient stay on the island!
The Neighborhood: The 164-acre Audubon Bird Sanctuary is just down the road. The sanctuary is a well-known destination for birdwatchers in search of one of the hundreds of species that live in and migrate through the sanctuary year-round, such as herons and pelicans. Visitors can take a walking tour though the palmetto palms where they can experience the birds in the lush native flora and fauna of the island.
The Mobile Bay Ferry is located just a short drive away. The ferry, which departs every hour and a half during the day, transports passengers to the historic Fort Morgan located in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
Just past the ferry is a popular boat launch on the island, where anglers launch their boats sunrise to sundown. Boat trailer parking for the boat launch can be tricky, especially during summer months, so Alvarado’s close proximity to the launch makes it an ideal location for anglers because of the extended boat parking offered to guests. Each unit can accommodate one boat trailer in addition to their parking.
The Dauphin Island Estuarium, an aquarium that is home to more than 100 different species of native Alabama marine life, and the historic Fort Gaines, where you can find guided tours of the 1821 fort that protected Mobile Bay during the Civil War, are both located within one mile of the property as well. There are three public beaches on Dauphin Island — the East End Public Beach, Bienville Beach and the West End Public Beach.
With the almost dozen restaurants and snack bars on the island, there’s no shortage of local fare and fresh seafood. Almost every menu on the island serves up the freshest seafood in the South, including freshly caught snapper, grouper, oysters and crab. During the summer there are outdoor movies shown on the West End of the island, and the Dauphin Island Fishing Rodeo during July brings more than 75,000 spectators to the island for a weekend of fun and sports fishing.
Even though the island is small (it’s only 14 miles long and less than 2 miles wide or less, in some areas), it offers an endless amount of activities for vacationers, including an 18-hole golf course and endless water activities. Boat, jet ski, stand-up-paddleboard and kayak rentals are available, as well as sunset cruises and beach access to most of the 17 miles of powder, white sand beaches that wrap around the island. These offerings, in addition to deep-sea fishing and diving, make this Gulf Coast sanctuary one of the top destinations for those looking to escape the crowds and enjoy the beauty and tranquility of the Gulf.
We hope you enjoy your stay and enjoy exploring the beautiful Alabama Gulf Coast during your visit!

We love this rental! Have stayed here now 2 times! Convenient to everything! One little thing to be aware of is the water pressure. It's lacking. Other than that, 5/5
My husband and I stayed here for a couple days to come visit the island and purchase our drean home. The place was clean, modern and had everything you need for a stay!
We had to change our stay a few times and Shane and the staff worked hard to find a solution and a time that would work for us. The onsite free washer and dryer, just for our unit (bring your own detergent) was such a wonderful addition to take advantage of.
Centrally located with restaurants within walking distance (under half mile or 4 long blocks) and beaches minutes away this is an ideal location. Beats a hotel room. We found shrimp off the boat 25 minutes away and plenty to do while we were there. Place was clean and adequately stocked with dishes, cook ware and utensils. Great for a couple or a couple with 2 childrenThanks for great visit!
We had a wonderful stay! Excellent location! Perfect if you want to be near the beach but not directly on it, away from the traffic of the beach. Will definitely consider this place again next time we visit!
The property is older but updated. We had very little water pressure and some palmetto bugs around the back door. Property manager was quick to respond.
The condo was newly renovated in a great location and fully stocked. The owners communicated throughout when we had a few issues. The few things I noticed were that the back light was not working and the bed is broken, and there is a slight scratch musky odor that did not go away. Finally, we had to wash all the towels upon arrival as they did not smell clean.
This trip was all about relaxation and treating our son to a great weekend before his school started back up. We really enjoyed our stay at the condo. The location was fairly central to all of the activities we wanted to do.
