Shelving Rock Lodge sleeps 8 to fit your family, but it’s also a perfect for a romantic couple’s getaway! Our cabin is located on 54 picturesque mountain acres and in walking distance of Shelving Rock Falls and area hiking trails. Enjoy all that Lake George offers just 30 minutes away: canoe, kayak, area attractions, shop outlets and Ski at West Mountain.

If you don’t want crowds.... explore our property: snowshoe, hike, and mountain bike without leaving home. The great room is perfect for cards, games, movies or relaxing by the cozy living room fire… or end your day gazing at the stars next to the large outdoor firepit or hot tub.
We have thought of everything for your stay so relax… you're on Mountain time!

------ Description ------
Mountain cabin décor with all the comforts of home.
The King Master BR and guest BR (3 twins) are on 1st floor along with a fully equipped kitchen, spacious living room with large wood burning Fireplace. A Full Bath with both Jacuzzi and shower and half bath Powder/Laundry Room is also conveniently located on first floor. The fully equipped kitchen has 3 stools at the kitchen island and the dining area has 6 chairs. The large outside deck located off the Living Room has outdoor seating, a hot tub, a farm table with seating for 8 and a gas grill w/propane. There is a seasonal screened-in porch on main level for inclement weather.
Upstairs, there is a large loft overlooking the Great Room. It has a queen bed, sitting area and desk which provides for quiet time and relaxation. Air Mattress & linens are located in the tan chest if you have 8 people.
The lower level has a Game room with smart TV & DVD, seating area, foosball table, dart board and plenty of board games and DVD’s. It also has a full bath and small workout room with treadmill & weights.
Generac generator is automatically on for whole house comfort in the event of an area outage.

Shelving Rock Lodge is a quiet mountain escape in Fort Ann, NY on the West side of Lake George. Stroll through our gardens, explore streams and nature as the seasons change. You can literally walk out of the cabin and slip on your snow shoes or hiking boots.

All bedding linens, bath towels, hand towels, wash cloths, kitchen towels, cloth napkins and tablecloth.
Initial supply of products: toilet paper, paper towels, dishwasher/hand soap and trash bags. You may want to bring extra as we may not furnish these products for your entire stay. We do not supply Shampoo or bath soap.
A fully equipped kitchen including a blender, toaster, coffee pot & grinder, wine opener and all cooking utensils. Most times you will find a large supply of spices and basic kitchen pantry supplies in case you forgot that essential item.
Washer/Dryer, ironing board and iron.

Outdoor Gas Grill propane provided
Firewood is stacked outdoors on site for the firepit.
The screened porch has firewood for LR fireplace. As you stroll, there is plenty of small kindling on property for starting fire.

------ Getting there ------
Getting here: We recommend 4WD or AWD for winter rentals. Our cabin is rurally located approx. 9 miles from Rt 149 in Ft. Ann, NY. Expect slow driving on this winding mountain road which is unpaved last 3 miles. Road is maintained by town and plowed sanded during winter.

CANCELLATION POLICY: Guest receives 100% if cancellation occurs more than 30 days before arrival; Guest receives 50% if cancellation occurs more than 14 days before arrival; No refunds within 14 days of arrival.

Amazing Property

We recently stayed at this property for a bachelorette trip and it exceeded our expectations. The host was easy to contact and very accommodating. She let us delay our check out time so we could extend our trip. The property is beautiful and has a great view of the mountains. Very clean & tidy! We will absolutely be back in the future.

We had a great time visiting the cabin. Very remote location, which in turn led us to have some great family bonding time. Cabin was beautiful, well stocked and very clean. We really enjoyed the fire pit every night we were there. Would definitely love to go back in the winter.

Beautiful Place!

Very quiet and away from it all. If you want some peace and quiet, this is the place. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen is well stocked. It was summer and the upstairs was a bit warm but the A/C works well. We would stay again.

Excellent Retreat to Get Away from the Stresses of Life

I had booked Shelving Rock Lodge for myself and several friends for Labor Day weekend. The location is perfect if you are looking to truly disconnect for a weekend or so. The property is beautiful and perfectly maintained near numerous hiking trails and waterfalls. It was a great fit for us as we really just wanted a quiet weekend away from the stresses of work.

Great cabin experience in the woods

Lake George for long weekend. Cabin was beautiful, with fireplace and hot tub. Owner was very responsive and checked in on us with snowy forecast. Cabin is a little away from most restaurants, so 25 minutes drive? But if you're looking to get away from it all, this is your place 😊

Cabin in the woods

This oasis provides a wonderful place to connect with family and friends. A large outdoor fireplace, hot tub, indoor fireplace, and finished basement create many spaces to relax. Shelving Rock Lodge is AMAZING

Our family had a fantastic time, staying at Shelving Rock Lodge for a long weekend. The property is beautifully maintained, and the house comes stocked with everything you could possibly need! Everything seemed great. Then the property owner kept pushing me to create a review. As soon as I completed the review she put in for an insurance claim. She told us about a red latch on the hot tub. We went out of our way to make sure we understood how this latched worked. She accused us of breaking it which we did not do. She claimed she just happened to have the part in stock and already replaced it.

Family Vacation

Very comfortable, well equipped house with lovely garden. Great views from large deck with a nice hot tub, comfortable furniture and pretty views. We enjoyed the fire pit in the evenings under the stars and the children explored the various paths. It is a really nice house for a family party, open kitchen, dining and living room. Bedrooms are really nice and bathrooms work well for a family group. The location is quiet and away from any other properties so enjoyable for those that like peace and quiet. Hiking trails just a few minutes from the house. We all had a great week and would like to stay at the house again.

A great getaway!

We are from the area and grew up going to Shelving Rock. Family get together to visit family and relax. No cellular signal AT ALL at the house, which I love. They do have great WIFI though. Make sure you take a screen shot or write down the WIFI password so that you can access your device and check in procedures when you arrive. The house had everything we needed. Spices, cooking utensils, etc. We had 8 guests total, but missed that the 8th individual would need to utilize an air mattress. It wasn't a big deal because it is a very comfortable and nice air mattress. The deck is wonderful and there is so much space outdoors spread out. The fire pit really large and there is a lot of parking too. We would not hesitate to rent this property again. Lots of trailheads close by. I took my coffee each morning and hiked to a beautiful view. It was amazing. Be aware that you will be spending a lot of time driving on dirt roads if you are headed out from the property. Our only suggestions would be to add another bunk bed to the bunk room and maybe add bunks to the basement.

Fantastic Cabin and Getting Away From It All

We loved our time at this cabin. Far enough away but close enough to Lake George to get there in under 30 min. Kids adapted to the Wi-Fi eventually! Looking forward to going back to this fantastic house in the future!

Perfect stay!

We really enjoyed our stay at Shelving Rock Lodge! It was incredibly clean and had everything we needed. We enjoyed the peaceful deck in the morning and hanging by the fire pit at night. The hot tub was an added bonus! It’s in a quiet, secluded area and a short distance to hiking trails and the falls. 100% recommend. We’ll be back!

Beautiful home in a beautiful location

We loved our stay at Shelving Rock Lodge. The location is beautiful - surrounded by acres of wilderness. The home is cozy and welcoming. It is very comfortable place that is well organized and clean. It was the perfect getaway for two families who are longtime friends. It sleeted while we were there and the owners had the driveway sanded right away. We will definitely return.

Perfect Getaway

Immaculate and spacious property. You can tell a lot of detail and planning has gone into this property. Our host Theresa was great. The house was the perfect holiday getaway for our family. It was clean, and had everything a family of 7 needed to have our Thanksgiving dinner. The kitchen offered way more than most. The kids and adults loved the game room and the hot tub was great surrounded by distant mountains. Having a stream close by and the sound of it was very calming. Nearby, there are great options for hiking, our family absolutely loved it. If you would like to go to a clean, relaxing, beautiful property-this is the one. We highly recommend.

If you desire to find "that special zen place" there is no need to travel halfway across the world to do so. It is in Fort Anne NY. This gem has it ALL...beautiful surroundings, close amazing hiking, and dare I say ...connective silence? The home contains a special vibe and it envelopes you as soon as you enter...sort of like a wonderful etheric blanket that is preparing you for advanced levels of relaxation. Theresa the owner was a pure joy we cannot say enough about how cared for we felt during our stay. I hope that after posting this review that many will have a chance to experience this amazing spot and visit Shelving Rock Lodge to reset themselves from the often chaotic world we all live in. 5 stars isn't enough, we give Theresa and Shelving Rock Lodge 10 shooting stars! It was built in 2008 and we purchased it in 2018. We are consistently improving the cabin and grounds and enjoy sharing this ideal setting with our guests.
