Great property in a secluded location. We loved the privacy and the quiet for getting away from the hustle of city life. Our dog loved roaming around the property, and the house is very nicely set up for hosting a big family group - we had 8 people comfortably stay. Would definitely come back.
We are repeat guests at this beautiful scenic home and it never disappoints! We had everything we needed at the house and soaked up the scenery, fresh air, and much needed quiet. Genevieve is a fantastic host and we will definitely be back!
The communication and willingness of the owner to work through some unexpected weather challenges was very nice. This was a mother/daughter trip and the location and place house were both a very nice. We day tripped around the state and also enjoyed morning walks on the property and late night, moonlit laughs on the rope swing.
Had a spectaular time with the family for a 4th of July getaway. So much to do right on the property it was relaxing but with still so much to do! So much space our city dogs were in heaven to be off the leash for a few days. Stunning views! Would stay again!!
Beautiful home in a beautiful location. The owners were wonderful to work with, everything went very smoothly. Would definitely return next time we are in the area!
Perfect place for the attendees to a local craft retreat to stay and experience the beauty of Vermont. The house had everything the guests needed to be completely content and enjoy the beautiful scenery.
This area of Vermont is very special to my family, so we were excited to find a VRBO listing and thrilled to see everything it has to offer. The house is well equipped and spacious. The property and view are incredible. Definitely would like to plan a repeat visit.
This is a unbelievable property with beautiful views and spaces to explore. We can’t wait to come back. The hosts are great and we even had the refrigerator go bad which they replaced the next day. If you are coming to Vermont this is the place to stay.

Such a great property! We came for the eclipse but absolutely did not want to leave. The home was clean, well-equipped, cozy and perfect. Our hosts were communicative and lovely. I am looking forward to coming back again soon; our experience couldn’t have been better.
Our group of 6: grandparent, parents, 3 kids had a great time staying here. Spacious home, beautiful surroundings, lots of room to roam around for the kids. Very peaceful and private. We loaded up on food for the week and large ate in the house. It’s somewhat of a drive to get to restaurants and attractions, but we didn’t mind.
10/10 for our stay. The place is beautiful, very clean, and had all the things needed to make our stay stress free. Such an enjoyable time. They even had bowls for the dogs. They also had boxes of blocks/cars, our kids absolutely enjoyed this part. Such a nice time
Beautiful views, awesome trails, amazing property and a clean, comfortable, and cute house. And a great swimming pond! What more could you ask for? Genevieve was super nice and responsive. We can’t wait to stay again, it was the perfect week.
Relaxing and quiet. beautiful views. Comfortable and nicely appointed amenities. Our short stay did not allow time or have the weather cooperate to
explore the available trails but looked interesting. We spent quality family time removed from the hustle and bustle of the world. It was just what we needed.
We love our time at Genevieve and Colin’s amazing house and property and this was our third year! They are amazing and attentive hosts. We had everything we needed including the maple syrup they left for us (it’s amazing in coffee, btw).
If you want a quiet getaway in a beautiful setting and don’t necessarily want to see many other people , this is the place for you! You can hike, bike, swim, hammock, contemplate nature, then head into Barre to the grilled cheese restaurant.
Where do we begin? Genevieve and Colin's place was amazing. It was beautiful, spacious, welcoming, warming, and so comfortable. The pictures really don't do justice to the house and its surroundings. Our group of four got together to reconnect and work (a writing retreat). The hosts were amazingly prompt when communicating with us. We can't wait to return.

Thanks for your kind words Shameka. You were terrific guests and are welcome anytime. Genevieve + Colin
Colin and Genevieve's home was the perfect setting for a milestone birthday celebration with eight friends. The seating areas and bedrooms were all comfortable and the large dining room table was perfect for our meals. Kitchen and bathrooms were modern, well-equipped and clean. We appreciated the fresh flowers inside the house and the seasonal decor on the comfortable deck. The hosts have thought of everything!

Thanks for your visit Jayne and for leaving the house in such good shape. It's great to hear the birthday was such a success. I hope you can find an excuse to come back again soon.

This property was wonderful. Exactly as advertised. Views were outstanding and the house had everything we needed. My husband and I stayed with our adult children and their significant others. We had plenty of room to spread out and relax. The property is literally in the middle of nowhere, but for us that was no problem because we had family close by. I would definitely stay here again. It was perfect for our needs.

Thanks! We’re happy you enjoyed your stay and that it worked well with your extended family being close by. You were wonderful guests. Our property certainly is very private and great for unwinding from life’s stresses. Luckily it’s only 20 mins to Bradford or Barre, both of which have supermarkets, restaurants, bars, etc. so not quite as remote as it might feel.
We loved our vacation here. There is so much to do on the property. The pond is good for swimming, but not much of a shore so you have to go off the dock. The owners are super responsive and made sure our stay was great. The trails are a lot of fun. There is only one small TV, which was fine for us as we were busy with other activities, but just wanted to note it. We could very easily spend another week here and would be happy to visit again. It was one of our best family vacations!
Very nice property. Things we did not like about the property were no blinds or curtains on the bedroom windows(it was like living in a fishbowl) , there was a claw foot bathtub in the master bath converted to a shower and we are an older couple which made climbing into the tub treacherous, there was no door on the master bath and the stairs going up to the bedrooms were slippery and could use grip strips on them like the steps up to the loft..

Thank you for your 5 star review. We’re delighted you enjoyed the property and appreciate your suggestions for areas to improve.
Because of the acreage the house sits on we have no neighbors giving us wonderful privacy. The large picture windows allow for beautiful views, but I can appreciate this may feel exposed if you’re coming from a built up areas where blinds are a must! Sorry if that felt uncomfortable. Just a note that we do provide eye masks in your bedside table to sleep.
Thanks for your suggestion about adding grip tape to the stairs. There is a good hand railing but especially if you have socks on, I can see it might still feel less secure.
It’s true that the claw toothed tub, as pictured on the website, requires some maneuvering to get in and out. We intend to renovate the bathroom at some point in the future but are a bit torn as we do enjoy the tub. We’ll definitely keep you posted when we make the renovation!
Thanks for coming to stay.
Best wishes,
Genevieve
About the host
Hosted by Colin and Genevieve
This is our family homestead. My husband Colin was raised here and, after buying the property from his father, we decided it was the perfect spot to have our own family. To do this we put in organic vegetable gardens and built a pig pen and chicken coop for a very local food source. Next, because we love to mountain bike, we spent our free time building several miles of fun, flowy single track through the woods. We also cleared glades for skiing in the winter behind the house.
We have loved raising our family in this peaceful space. Watching the kids play in the sandbox or apple trees, or our black lab swim circles in the pond, has never gotten old. Now that we cannot be here full time, we decided to refurbish the home to make it more comfortable for visitors, updating the kitchen and bedrooms. We are so happy to have the chance to share it with others and hope you will find this the perfect place to unwind with your friends and family.
What makes this property unique
The house has solar collectors to provide hot water and solar panels for green electricity. While we are on the grid (so no risk or running out of power or hot water) it's nice to know your carbon footprint will be kept to a minimum.
See the Milky Way! The location of our home is great for seeing the night sky. With so little light pollution sitting on our open porch you will be amazed at all the stars you can see and, if you are there in the heart of summer, the fire flies are a show all on their own.
Hear the sounds of summer from bard owls to bluebirds. The wetland, brook and pond on the property are home to peepers and bullfrogs, painted turtles and salamanders. Being surrounded by this natural habitat can be a source of fun and learning for your children and provides a wonderful chorus of sounds as you fall asleep.
