About this property

Bablou Tower - unusual

Spend a unique night in a 400-year-old tower, a former hemp kiln converted into a home. Standing nearly 10 metres tall, the tower overlooks the surrounding countryside and the Yèvre Valley. The tower is located right next to our home and near a watermill that has been converted to generate electricity. On the ground floor, there is a fully equipped kitchen with a refrigerator, hob, and oven, as well as a dining table and a fireplace. On the ground floor, there is a master bedroom with a view of the stunning wooden cathedral ceiling and a bathroom with a shower and toilet. On the second floor, there is a loft with two single beds. The 5-meter-by-12-meter pool is open from April through September. Please note: In 2022, the pool will only be accessible until September 5, as maintenance will begin on that date. Outside, there is a table, chairs, and a BBQ. Bed linens, extra blankets, and towels are provided. Please note: Towels are for bathroom use only and must not be used at the pool. Upon departure, please empty the trash tins and place the bed linens and bath towels in the laundry basket. You may use the pool and the clothesline (shared with us). The children’s play area is private. The garden around the tower is available for use. We are available via email, text message, or phone. If you’d like, we can take a moment to recommend places to visit. We’ll send you a list of places to visit via text message a few days before your arrival. Nature as far as the eye can see. The tower is located near a working watermill and a river. It’s nearly 10 metres tall. The walls are over 1 metre thick, which helps keep the house cool. Car or bike. No buses nearby. Vierzon train station is a 15-minute drive away. Mehun-sur-Yèvre train station is a 5-minute drive away. If you’re coming by bike from the train station, I recommend taking the Berry Canal route, exiting at Foecy, and then heading through Les Varennes. Close to the Vierzon Centre highway exit (5 min). The stairs are steep, and the mezzanine may be dangerous for young children. A laundromat is available at Carrefour Market, 2 km away. The clothesline on-site can be used to dry clothes and towels.
