Wonderful house with tons of room for everyone to spread out. Nothing better than the hot tub and pool after long days at the park! Perfect location for all Disney parks!
We had a great stay. The house was clean, comfortable, and had all things you need to have a great stay and vacation. Even included electric teapot.. all needed small appliances. Also had beach toys and chairs! Located right by a popular local market with fresh Poke! So good! Would stay again.
This little house was perfect for us because we wanted to be a part of the paia neighborhood. The house is thoughtfully laid out, comfortable and full of warm touches: the outside shower, useable kitchen, and I loved the cross ventilation the windows provided. The market has everything and it's yummy. The beach next to mama's is the best secret spot. Thank you Cathy for being prompt and responsive and Norm for such a spotless cleaning job.
The pictures actually do not do the property justice. Quiet neighborhood, beautiful well appointed interior with everything you would need. Perfect backyard for morning coffee while watching the birds. Four minute walk to Mommas beach where you can view turtles and relax for as long as you want. We found this location to be perfectly located to experience everything Maui has to offer. We also met the owner of the property who was so kind and talked enthusiastically about how she made this home away from home so special!!
Such a wonderful secluded quiet Hawaiian experience- beautiful location right on the road to Hana and near the quaint town of Paia. Everything in the home was perfect for our adult family of 5. We used and enjoyed everything. Tons of fun was had at the ocean’s tidal pool- a perfect place to swim, sun & enjoy watching the giant turtles. The outdoor tub was unique and a perfect place to Star gaze. There was even a little corner store within walking distance with tons of great merch, & delicious food, coffee & wine at reasonable price and a well stocked Safeway only 5 miles down the road. Do yourself a big favor & book this place if you can!
Me and friends honestly couldn’t have asked for a whole lot more. We were in town for a friend’s funeral, and having this place to commemorate him while we were bustling around the island made everything a lot easier. The home was clean and ready for us, with plenty of the things you’d want to have a good time in Maui.
One criticism: the tub didn’t put out any hot water, and that was after trying for about 5 minutes. Not a huge deal, but it would have been nice.

This is the outdoor tub in the garden. It does take quite a while for the hot-water to reach the tub. It's the same hot-water tank as the water in the main house, so if there's hot water in the main house there's hot water for the outdoor tub. In the future, always call if you need assistance, and we can quickly be at the property. We always want our guests to be comfy and enjoy their visit.
The house is well located, very clean, very well stocked, well groomed small yard with tropical plants all around. We had read reviews about a Tide Pool within walking distance and it did not disappoint. There were turtles on the rocks the first time we were there, turtles on the beach the second visit and very rough waters with big splashes and no beach another time. Although it isn't real large, the spa tub. was also very nice. Be sure and keep your doors closed to keep the little Maui pests out. If we ever get back to Maui we will definitely plan our trip around Menehune House being available!!

Lovely little house in a great location but
The house was well decorated, well stocked and well kept and VRBO photos/description accurate and we had a lovely time. But felt a tad claustrophobic as neighbor houses are very close on 3 sides. Could barely see the sky. We were disappointed in the lack of a lanai or any other outdoor living space except a round metal umbrella table and 6 uncomfortable metal folding chairs which sat on a concrete pad surrounded by sharp gravel and rough pavement right by the front door (w/b much nicer if this was a grassy area with lounge furniture). Would have appreciated at least a few outdoor chairs in the tiny "back" yard where there is a little pod of grass and a patch of sky.

The properties in Paia/Kuau tend to be on small lots. It's a very desirable area to live or vacation, but the area isn't large, therefore the small properties. As Penny indicated, the photos and description are accurate and the outdoor eating area is exactly as it appears in the photos. The good news is that we will be purchasing a new outdoor table/chairs, and I'm sure these will be more comfortable than the current set.
For guests that want large open spaces, we encourage them to consider the Haiku area. This is more rural, and many of the properties are two acres or larger.

Beautiful, Charming, Perfect
We were so thrilled when we arrive at this charming Paia beach house and upset that we had to leave so soon! This house and property is very beautiful and exactly what you need for a small family. My wife could not stop talking about how cute the place was, bonus points for me! This magical oasis is filled with fruit trees and there is even a in-ground tub outside which just calls for a romantic evening! If you are a surfer is it a perfect spot in between Baldwin Beach and Ho'okipa, only a 5 min drive to either location. Paia town is also very close(~8-10 min). You can walk to Mama's Beach from the place which is great for the kids since it has a very large and nice tidal pool. Just make sure that you make a reservation for Mama's Fish house about a year in advance :). We met Steve, the owner, who is very nice and welcoming. He and Anne (the property manager) are readily available and will make sure that your stay is nothing but excellent. We had nothing but an excellent stay, we will be coming back. Highly recommended. Until then - Mahalo Nui Loa!
This was a lovely house and we had a great time. Lovely hang out spots outdoors, as well as ample space inside for a group of five. Hosts were communicative and easy going. Really appreciated everything and the location was great also, walking distance to the beach for morning sunrises and right next to a wonderful store and coffee shop. Five stars all around, with one small note about the outdoor hot tub. It’s really an indoor Jacuzzi that needs to be filled every time you want to use it, and there is a note that says there may not be enough hot water to fill it from the solar heating system. It’s also smaller than we thought -for about two people. Since there were five of us, we didn’t even try it, though we had been looking forward to having a hot tub. It may have worked just fine, and would probably work for a couple or a smaller group. For us it seems like a lot of work, and possibly a little bit wasteful with water and taxing on the heating system to get five people in so I can’t speak to that amenity. Otherwise, five stars, and everything was fantastic! Thank you!

Aloha! Many thanks for your comments. So happy to hear that you enjoyed the house. I updated the description of the outdoor tub to read "outdoor jetted bathtub", so hopefully this helps to avoid future confusion. The only time there'd be a shortage of hot-water would be if everyone showered, and then somebody tried to fill the tub (it's large for a tub). We try to be eco-friendly by having solar hot-water, but there is electric back-up whenever needed.
I did not do a lot of research about the different areas of Maui before booking but I'd stay around the North Shore again! Quiet neighborhood, short walk to a private little tide pool beach with great snorkeling and huge sea turtles and the local store/deli was also a short walk with fantastic food and drinks. The rental had everything we needed and the outdoor shower was a nice bonus!
We were in Maui with our son, daughter in law and our 2 year old granddaughter. The house was so lovely, with a large, open area for the LR, DR and kitchen and then 3 bedrooms and 2 baths. It was furnished nicely and was very comfortable. There was a yard and outdoor shower, and best of all, a 5 minute walk to a great small beach. Every day, we spent part of the day at the beach, feeling very lucky to share the beach with a few huge turtles. The house is in Paia, which is a small, cute town with Mama's Fish Market for dinner and a small store near the house which had lunch and a little of everything else. We all loved staying there and look forward to coming back again next year.
This place was absolutely perfect for our family! The location can't be beat, and the house has everything needed to feel like home... but way better :)
The Menehune house is a perfect, comfortable spot. Would highly recommend staying here!

Comfortable charming home
Such a well-maintained property with attention to detail management and convenient access to natural beauty. Really enjoyed this side of the island and its contrast to West/South Maui.

Wonderful!
Hawaiian charm! Great Paia location. Loved this cottage style house! Even took pictures because I'd like to build it waterfront back on Cape Cod. Outdoor shower was a huge hit. 5 of us and house was set with plenty of beach chairs, boogie boards, snorkel gear, etc. We stayed 3 places on Maui and this was by far our favorite, even ranked higher than the direct waterfront house. I am a rental owner and my standards are very high. If you want a bungalow, true Hawaiian experience I can't recommend this home enough.

Lovely & Comfortable!
We were 4 adults and 1 child staying for 5 nights. This was definitely a home away from home and was very comfortable. The owners/managers really have taken great care to provide all that visitors need - everything from a rice maker, to EO soap to great bedding....so many great amenities! The surrounding garden on the property was private and beautifully maintained. We especially enjoyed the outdoor tub and shower, which became our evening ritual after long days at the beach. The house was quite hot during the day even with the fans going, but cooled off some at night. AC in all the bedrooms would make it even better (currently only in 1 bdrm). With a corner market and access to a beach within walking distance, it's a great location. When we visited there was also a plentiful amount of water toys (boogie boards, fins, snorkel/masks, chairs, umbrellas, etc). We'd definitely return to this lovely house.
