About the host
Hosted by Bear Creek Ranch
The Swift Family lived permanently at Sky House for fourteen years and the three children were born and raised here on Bear Creek Ranch. The son is busy developing an organic muesli company in San Luis Obispo out of his passion for health and fitness. As he is a local resident, you may be greeted by him at Sky House. One of the daughters has a law degree and lives in Portland, Oregon tending to her backyard as she would on the ranch with fruit trees and a flock of chickens. The other daughter also has a law degree and is passionate about the environment having enjoyed time in the Black Hills of South Dakota, spending her afternoons hiking amidst bison instead of the familiar long horn cattle that roam the ranch. The family still enjoys the ranch which to this day is owner occupied at the far end of the property.
Our long-term vision is for the ranch to be self-sustainable ecologically and economically. Sharing the cherished Sky House is part of this process. Apart from our dedication to and love of the ranch, we are collectively passionate about issues ranging from conservation of biodiversity to the rights of indigenous peoples and rural farmers. When not here, we are likely to be somewhere else on this planet working in the context of these issues or embracing different places and cultures.

What makes this property unique
Sky House at Bear Creek Ranch has an incredibly unique location on the ranch, in its own realm on the top of the hill with some of the most dynamic views in SLO county. One can sit and enjoy the view, swim in the pool or wander the trails around the ranch and even visit the fields and orchards. One can go into town, to Morro Bay, Los Osos or San Luis Obispo, which are really all just around the corner, a mere 20-30 minute drive. Yet once back on the hilltop one will feel secluded and free from the bustle of town, so close but so far below. Sky House is an incredible mix of contrasts available to enjoy.
