Welcome to the Log Cabin Lake House! This was a family home for many years, and we are excited to share all the home and the area has to offer. This modern yet traditional log home has all you need to feel just right in the Northwoods. It is located on Nelson Lake, about five miles from downtown Hayward, and well situated for you to enjoy all the area has to offer. The location is ideal, being close to shopping, as well as close to hiking, skiing and biking trails, as well as snowmobiling and ATV trails.

Layout:
This 3 level home has all you need for a comfortable get away. Each floor has a view of the lake. The spacious main floor has two bedrooms, one full bath, and an open concept kitchen, dining room, living room. There is also a laundry room on this floor. Off the main floor is a screen porch, and access to a large deck. The loft has the master suite and a full bathroom. Outside the master suite is an open office area, play/craft area, and a futon.
The lower level has a bedroom, full bathroom and family room.
The outside area provides lake access with a small beach area. There is a large 50 foot dock that is shared with another party. You have use of the dock with room for two boats. Two single kayaks and one double kayak is available for your use. You can fish off the dock or fish the 2500 acres of Nelson Lake. There is a large fire pit with fire wood available for your use that is near the lakeshore and is a great gathering spot for day time or evening get togethers. It is a wonderful spot for star gazing or making s'mores.
We have a small sandy beach area next to our dock on our property. This is great for younger kids. There is a gradual slope to about 5-6 feet of water. Another option for swimming is to go out to a public beach area about 1/2 mile from our dock. This beach has a large sandy area with a gradual slope. It is ideal for family swimming. You can easily park your boat or pontoon on the sandy beach.

The property shares a driveway and parking area with another party. The parking area provides space for you for at least three vehicles and a trailer, with additional space available on an adjacent lot.
The property managers are next door and are normally available for any questions or concerns.

NOTE: We only rent full weeks, Friday to Friday during June, July and August. Check in is Friday afternoon, check out is Friday morning.

The host requires you to complete the following before checking out:
Load and start the dishwasher
Strip any used beds and gather used towels
Remove personal items, remove leftover food and drinks and take out the rubbish
Turn off the lights and lock the doors
Make sure refrigerator and freezer are empty and clean as necessary. Turn off all lights and fans.
Place all used bedding and towels in the laundry room.
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.
No more than 12 guests allowed. Base rate is for 6 guests. Day guests are welcome anytime. Added guests are charged at a rate of $25 PP per day.
You are not allowed to bring in outside furniture or air mattresses at anytime. You are not allowed to move furniture or items within the house.
Smoking of any kind (including vaping) is not allowed inside the house. Illegal drugs and fireworks are strictly prohibited on the property.

Peaceful Getaway

Sibling Reunion

Absolutely beautiful log cabin. The layout offered plenty of space for us to be together as a group of 8 while cooking and eating as well as playing cards. It also has great space for spreading out if you need a little alone time. Hayward is a fun town and is an easy short drive from the cabin. Dave was a great host and took care of any issues we had. Definitely recommend this gem!!!

Wonderful Northwoods Getaway

The Nelson Lake house is a great getaway. The house is perfect for a multi generational family. There are 3 distinct areas for sleeping and just taking a break. Dave and Cathy are fantastic hosts, they have thought through what will make their house comfortable. You will have a great time!

Favorite cabin of the summer

We spent a handful of weekends staying at VRBO cabins this summer and this was hands down our favorite! The hosts thought of everything, so we didn’t need to bring much for preparing food or sleeping arrangements. Cabin was so beautiful, right on the water and a great dock for parking the boat and jet skis.

Perfect place for a family week! Beautiful clean property with everything you need. Great beach for kids to swim on the property and another swimming beach nearby. Great fishing. We can’t say enough about this log home. There was plenty of room for our family of 10 to spread out. The kitchen was very well equipped and the island was great for many buffet type dinners! Everyone had a seat at the table for sit down dinners as well. What was very nice is that each level of this home had a full bathroom so our 3 families had their own. The deck was large and nicely shaded for our little ones to run around with a gate that was locked for safety. The beach was a big hit with the grandkids! Our host was the best with quick answers to any questions before we arrived and during our stay! We would love to come back to this beautiful home! Thank you again to our host who made us feel very welcomed!!

Incredible home away from home

We have been fortunate to travel to many locations and stay in some lovely properties, but only rarely have we had such a fabulous stay! This log home is exceptionally clean and well-cared for. The layout and design is perfect for large groups, though we loved our stay as a couple. The swimming--even in September--was wonderful. Dave is the consummate host. We will return for a longer stay!

Amazing Property

From the beginning the communication was excellent. The cabin was beautiful and had everything we could possibly need for our stay. Hayward getaway

We had a great family vacation in Hayward. The property was beautiful. The cabin was clean and well stocked with everything we could need. Dave was very helpful with any questions that we had. The area around the dock was too weedy to swim or fish but Dave offered up his Maui mat for the kids to use a bit further out for swimming. Overall,we had a great time!

Family Ties

This is an amazing vacation spot overseen by a super hospitable couple, Dave and Cathy. It is all inclusive. The only thing you have to bring is you and your food. The beautiful cottage is well stocked with many amenities. While there we were able to hike, bike, swim, boat, kayak, canoe, fish, enjoy a campfire and much more. We also enjoyed downtown Hayward along with the World Lumberjack Championships. We suggest to anyone to add this cottage to your vacation travels. It’s a great place for families to make memories and create family ties

Wonderful Experience

Our stay at the Log Cabin House on Nelson Lake was fantastic. First we would like to thank Dave Yohnk and his wife Cathy. The attention to detail of the property and us as guest was very special. The house itself is perfect for an extended family. We had 3 separate family groupings and everyone had their own space if they needed a little a break from complete togetherness. The property also had a well cared for swimming and dock area that was just right for the adult swimmers and the little 6 year old new swimmer. The 6 year old caught 10 fish in one week off the pier. The house also comes with kayaks. The lake area adjacent to the property was perfect for kayaking. All and all a fantastics week. Thanks again for sharing your house.

The Log Cabin Lake House is located only 5 miles from downtown Hayward on beautiful Nelson Lake. We are conveniently located near lots of year around activities. We have excellent biking, hiking and skiing trails within 4 miles of the cabin. Cable Wisconsin is a short drive away. If you need to get food and supplies, Walmart and Market Place are a short drive away.
