Perfect for a day trip to White Sands National Park!
** Please read the entire description**
This is a great location to use as "home base" to take day trips to White Sands National Park, Guadalupe Mountains National Park, Carlsbad Caverns National Park, Hueco Tanks State park, and the cities of Hatch, Cloudcroft and Ruidoso, NM (we often go up to visit just for the day and come home).
Our geodome was built in 2001 by multiple people within the Chaparral community. Chaparral is nestled right in between El Paso, TX and Las Cruces, NM. Both cities can be easily accessed from the dome.
The inside boasts an open floor plan with living room, dining room and full kitchen. The living room has 2 futons, large reclining couch, and a smart TV. Please come prepared with your Netflix/Hulu/Prime etc. account information. There is a full bathroom downstairs with a washer and dryer.
The upstairs loft has a king size bed and with a unique view out the large window. There is also a half bath.
The back door has a doggy door for your fur babies that leads to a fenced in area. We understand you may want to do activities that your pet is not able to go to. Your pet is welcome to stay in the home but MUST be kenneled if left alone. Failure to do so could result in an additional fee and any repair costs. We do not recommend leaving your pets unattended during the summer months.
Please remember this is the desert, there are goat heads (thorns/stickers) here aka “picas”. It’s apart of desert life, so we recommend wearing tennis shoes or boots. If you are bringing pets along we recommend doggie shoes for them although, not a requirement and most pets are fine. Pets are allowed here, please consider this if you deal with any allergies.
There are Ring cameras on the outside of the dome for security purposes.
Important: June-September is monsoon season in our area. It's also summer time and very hot. The dome is run by a swamp cooler. This is much different than refrigerated air. You may find the air to be humid inside and the swamp cooler is only able to cool the house to a certain temperature. This time of year also brings flies around. The flies can be mitigated if you open and close the front door as quickly as possible.
Please note, the dome is very close to White Sands Missile range, which is an extension of Ft. Bliss. There are military trainings that occur here and you may hear noises from it. At times you may be able to watch the tracer missile's fall from the upstairs loft. This usually occurs during the summer time but can vary. We personally find it very interesting and enjoy it .
With that said, we do not want our guests to have any surprises when they get here about desert life. The desert is beautiful, the sunsets and sunrises are breathtaking and the dome offers quite the unique experience. We love the desert and hope you'll love it as much as we do. We can't wait to have you as our guest!

Amazing stay! We love staying here when we're on our way they town. The house is fun and well maintained. The hosts are great and always responsive. The doggy door and enclosed fence area are a wonderful addition after having our dogs cooped up in the car all day. We will be back!
What a unique and fun place to stay! The geodesic dome home was wonderfully outfitted with everything you need for your stay. 4 adults stayed comfortably and enjoyed the experience.

Liked: Cleanliness, amenities, property conditions & facilities, communication
One of the cleanest and well stocked place we stayed in. Nice place to stargaze and watch the sun sets. We travel with our dogs and this place is dog friendly. The property has a big area to walk the dogs and it also has a secured dog run for late nights potty break. Bailey was very accommodating and communication was easy. We will stay here again.
We had such a great time during our short stay in the Desert Dome! The hosts provided everything we could need (and more!) and we loved watching the sunset and listening to the coyotes at night. Absolutely would recommend!
We had a memorable and relaxing stay at this unique remote dome not far from Las Cruces. The space was clean, well-maintained, and thoughtfully stocked with everything we needed. We enjoyed both the indoor and outdoor games provided, which added a fun touch to our time there. One evening brought a thunderstorm, and watching the lightning light up the sky through the large windows was absolutely magical—an unforgettable experience. The location is perfect for exploring the area, with easy access to Las Cruces and White Sands National Park.We would absolutely recommend this one-of-a-kind stay to anyone looking for a peaceful desert getaway with a touch of adventure!
We enjoyed staying in this cute and comfortable desert dome. It was nice to hike everyday with our Pup and come back to this country retreat. The host of this property greeted us our first night and made us and our dog feel welcome. She has thought of everything a guest might need. If you are looking for a serene place to come back to, after visiting White Sands, El Paso or Las Cruces, this is the place.
The guys loved the dome and it was completely equipped to make it feel like home. It is obvious the owners put a lot into making this a great stay.

We love desert living. We also love to travel and see new places.
Why they chose this property
In 2016 we were looking to escape the city. Thats when we stumbled across the dome. It wasn't perfect. The dome was falling apart, and leaked everywhere. Over the last four years nearly the entire house has been remodeled from the outside in. We love this unique structure and want to share the joy it brings us with others.
What makes this property unique
The dome offers unique mountain views and an appreciate for an ecosystem that is typically under appreciated.
