Located in Cahuita, at Playa Grange. Air-conditioning (2 units in 2 rooms-leave door open to cool off the whole house).
Nicely decorated 3 bedroom apartment, comfortable and very private. Property is 4 min walk from the beach, and the closest restaurant. The center of Cahuita and the National Park are 5min drive. The house is overlooking manicured gardens, full of tropical flowers, it is in a jungle setting where you can listen to the ocean, hear the howl of the visiting monkeys, spot Iguanas climbing the trees and a plethora of tropical birds, toucans, and sloths all from your own breeze deck.

The space:
Walk upstairs and you arrive on the large covered private deck with outdoor living room, dining area and balcony styled with top quality furniture. Step inside this light and airy California style beach house to an open plan living room/ kitchen, 3 bedrooms and bathroom with a bathtub. Each bedroom has lots of light, screens (netting) in windows, so you can get air flow. 2 rooms have air-conditioners-leave the doors opened to cool of the entire space! Property is fully fenced.
Wifi password will be given to you upon arrival.

Guest access:
You can use the entire upstairs (except the storage room), parking, and gardens.
You do not have access to laundry room and bottom level apartment.

You can use the beach road.

PASS Cabinas Algebra.

Go another 150 meters on the beach road and turn LEFT right pass the TENNIS COURT which is on your left side.

Stay on the unpaved road which will curve sharply to the right.

Keep on going about another 50 meters.

You will end up in front of a large metal gate.

Go through the gate to the end of the driveway.

Our house is at the very end of the road, it has a red roof and 2 floors. Bottom floor is turquoise color and the top floor is wooden.

Full house cleaning $90 (takes about 5-6h)-includes washing sheets and washing of towels.

We had no hot water for our stay. The live in caretaker tried to get a plumber but didn’t seem to think no hot water for showers for 4 days was a big deal. This was Christmas in a venue described as liux. It was more like camping in a house.

Beach stay

Beds are comfy. Location was not where I thought. It was a nice place but not quite what we’d hoped for the end of our trip. I need to learn to read the details more thoroughly and be more precise in communicating with the host.

This villa is in a wonderful location. We saw toucans, iguanas, monkeys and lots of other wildlife from the balcony. The caretaker and owner were also very helpful and friendly. There are beautiful beaches a few minutes away and the National Park in Cahuita is lovely. You are an easy drive to Manzanillo and Punta Uva. Bananas restaurant is a short walk away and has excellent food. This part of Costa Rica is not commercialized. This is not an area with fancy resorts. This is an area with cabanas that are more rustic and close to nature. If you want to get a feel for living as part of the local landscape, check this place out. We had a wonderful time.

Read the small print! First look said it had a pool, whole house to yourself , washer and dryer at 20$ a load? A/C did not work, TV remote was broken, no streaming ? Place needs some TLC. Gas stove was a little scary and ran out. Water pressure was horrible (except the outdoor shower, that was good, electric power showed water in port in American I phones . You couldn't charge anything! Beach and area very nice, but a walk to town if you didn't have a car, there were bikes, but again read the small print!

Great location, but that's about it

First, the location is great. Close to town, close walk to beach and in the jungle enough to see monkeys, sloths, crabs, agoutis, iguanas, birds, frogs and lots of insects. Caretaker and neighbors were a little loud. Outside living area is nice. Inside area is worn and needs some attention. Needs more fans, only one standing fan and the ceiling fans were set to lowest setting so were not useful, stove wouldn't light, dishwasher but no dishwasher soap and couldn't find any at supermarkets, no soaps for kitchen or bathroom, no kitchen towels or dishcloths, no bathroom hand towels, low or no water pressure. Came back from swimming at the beach one day and caretaker was filling her swimming pool and we had no water pressure. We had to go down and turn off the water to the pool so we could take a shower. Power was out when we arrived so had no bathroom after a full day of traveling. We were told that it happens and it's out of their control. No advice on where to go to use a bathroom or offer of any kind of refund for the messed up first night. And with the power being out, we were not able to cool down the house with the one fan. I would not consider this a "Luxury" home. I would not stay here again.

Beautiful setting but difficult to find and check in

Once we found the place we enjoyed the house & the setting. Beautiful deck with lots of birds & wildlife all around. But checking in was made difficult by lack of communication from host. I contacted the host 2 weeks before the trip to get the location & got no response. Check in was 4pm & we still had no directions to the house. I called the phone number of the host in CA and no response. I then called VRBO and was on the phone a half hour with them trying to find us an alternative place to stay. Thankfully our local host from where we stayed the night before helped us by finding the house. He went to the house twice for us and knocked on the door for the caretaker. No response the 1st time but finally he got a response the 2nd time. The house is difficult to find & you need directions. There is a small sign on the beach road but two road turns away on very narrow roads & the sign is quite a distance from the house. None of the taxi drivers knew where it was & we had to explain in detail how to find it every time. The other issue was that the house was not quiet when the caretaker, who lives below, had guests. We heard children yelling & dogs barking several days. Difficult to relax and enjoy the surroundings. There are neighbors close by also, so one late night was noisy. The house itself is nice with lots of room. Just wish the check in had gone smoothly. I got an email from host with directions the day after check in, but that's too late.

Herrlich gelegen, aber...

Das Haus liegt abseits von Cahuita gefühlt mitten im Wald. Von der Veranda kann man sehr viele Tiere beobachten. Dadurch dass die Hausverwalterin mit ihrem Sohn im Erdgeschoss wohnt, ist es natürlich nie ganz still. Schade ist dass im Haus viele Dinge nicht oder nicht richtig funktionierten. Der ausgelobte Gemeinschaftspool gehört zu einem Restaurant in 2,8km Luftlinie, der Geschirrspüler war kaputt, der Backofen schaltete sich ständig ab. Hinzu kamen eine sehr stark schwankende Netzspannung und ein ebenso volatiler Wasserdruck. Ich kann auch damit umgehen, dass Dusche und Wasserhahn nur kalt bleiben, möchte das aber vorher wissen. Die Hausverwalterin war zumindest bemüht die Probleme in den Griff zu bekommen. Wir haben uns entschieden eher abzureisen. Mit der Vermieterin haben wir eine Erstattung vereinbart, die aber leider auch nicht vollständig erfolgte. Wir hatten schon mehrere Unterkünfte über diese Plattform gebucht und tolle Urlaube gehabt. Dieses Haus hier würde ich jedoch nicht wieder buchen.

Todo lindísimo Solo q Vrbo no deberia de tenerla como casa con piscina porq l piscina queda a más de 3 km y se debe consumir algo para usarla. También dice q tienen bicicletas disponibles pero no dice q las rentan. Por lo demás la casaun encanto y la duen y Alexia fue fantástica. Gracias!!!!

Very nice house but not well kept

The house design is great with a huge veranda and huge kitchen - Unfortunately it is badly kept and looks worn down compared to the pictures. Kitchen is dirty and full of ants! The WLAN is very weak and it was down for more than 2 days of our 4 days stay... Mobile service is also very weak (just to be be aware). Price/Value ratio is therefore not good. I informed the owner to let better clean and recommended refurbishing the kitchen. Water pressure is another problem especially when the house keeper who lives downstairs is at home. Directions given were also not precise enough (coordinates pointing to a house before) and we had big troubles finding the place. One could fix a plate at the entrance junction and give a proper description from the beginning - I only received those by whatsApp while lost in the woods there. Too bad for such a nice house to be „abandoned“ like this. I would not come again if in the area.

Parfait

On se sent imediatement chez soi. Maison parfaite pour une famille. Nous sommes surfer, et la plage à moins d'une minute de la maison était juste génial..! Nous avons adoré cette maison, avec une terrasse de rêve qui nous à permis de voir, toucan, singe hurleur, et oiseaux de toutes sortes. Un vrai cocon dans un écrin d'emeraude. Je recommande à tous les amoureux de la nature et du calme. Nous étions qu'a quelques minutes du parc national de Cahuita, des restaurants et toutes commodités. Si je devais revenir, évidemment, je reprendrai cette maison.! Environnement secure. Merci à Alexia, qui nous a aider sur notre organisation. .

Nice house

Nice house with an awesome outdoor living area. Just stayed one night because original booking couldn’t accommodate our dates. Oils easily have stayed whole time in this house. We’ll appointed and close to beach. With a short walk you will be standing on a sparsely populated beautiful beach. House is clean. Owner very nice. Would definitely recommend!

Schönes Haus in super Location, aber mangelhafte Rahmenbedingungen XY

Das Haus selbst, seine tolle Veranda und die Lage sind wunderbar. Allerdings gibt es einiges, was diesen positiven Eindruck getrübt hat: Unter Tags ist es im Haus sehr heiß. Die Ventilatoren (zu wenige) sind zu langsam und daher fast wirkungslos. Es gibt keine Klimaanlage, auch wenn es auf manchen der Bilder so scheint. Wäsche waschen und Fahrräder mieten kostet extra (20$ Wäsche, 10$ pro Rad und Tag), der ausgelobte Gemeinschaftspool ist Teil einer anderen Lodge, mind. 2 km entfernt. Diverse Küchenutensilien funktionierten nicht, zumindest der Toaster wurde nach 4 Tagen ersetzt. Während unserer Abwesenheit wurden mehrfach Privatgegenstände von uns versteckt (Kopfhörer war plötzlich in Schublade, Laptop in einem Küchenregal, etc), ein Glas lag einmal zerschmettert auf dem Boden und Toilettenpapier in Fetzen im Bad. Es war also jemand im Haus, mehrfach. Unsere Sorgen wurden aber leider nicht wirklich ernst genommen. Aufgrund dieser Vorkommnisse und der erwähnten Mängel können wir einen Aufenthalt in diesem sonst sehr schönen Haus nicht empfehlen.

Ça aurait pu être tellement mieux

Points négatifs: La maison est infesté de petites fourmis. Il y en a partout même dans les chambres et les lits. Elles ne piquent pas mais c’est pas très agréable. L’internet c’est comme l’eau chaude de la douche. Des fois il y en a d’autres fois il n’y en a pas. Les vélos à louer ne sont pas en bon état et sont loué très cher. Nous en avons trouvé à louer pour la moitié du prix et en bonne état au village. Si vous n’ avez pas de voiture, c’est loin de Cahuita (45 minutes à pied). On nous a laissé un seul rouleau de papier de toilette pour 5 personnes pour 7 jours. A cause de notre transport, nous devions arriver 4h avant le check in. Nous avons demandé si nous pouvions avoir un endroit pour laisser nos nos bagages. L’hôte ne nous a même pas répondu. Nous avons eu l’emplacement seulement 3 heure avant le check in. Pas de laveuse à linge sauf si ont paye encore un extra. Point positif: C’est dans la jungle, pas de voisins visible et nous avons vue plein d’anImaux, papillons, oiseaux... Singes hurleurs à tout les jours, ( ils hurlent aussi la nuit, moi j’ai aimé mais...) un serpent d’au moins 2 mètre de long juste à côté de la maison, des toucans, des gros iguanes...

Comfortable house with a fantastic covered deck

We stayed in multiple vacation houses in Costa Rica and this was the best. It's comfortable, updated, well equipped, completely screened inside, with the most fantastic covered deck ever. We could walk to restaurants and a swimmable beach easily and even into Cahuita itself. The care taker is right downstairs and she was very helpful. It met our needs 100%. We were 4 adults and 2 kids. Note you need to purchase drinking water jugs in this part of CR.

We have 2 children 8 and 10 years old (in 2021), so the house is very kids friendly.
